Still waiting for some information on the sales. I've looked everywhere and I can't find anything about the sales whatsoever. I'd really appreciate it if someone could find out something about the sales. x.x

Isn't it a little early for information like that?

How so? Its been almost 3 weeks. Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which has been out for an even shorter period of time, has already got unit sales.

Budokai HD & For Kinect sales.

Maybe the sales for Budokai HD were great indeed (better than RB1, RB2, UT, DBZFK) but the audience/fans seem to have lost some interest along the years and Amazon's not exactly filled with a lot of reviews which normally happens with popular/successful games.

Reviews per each Amazon.

Budokai HD

Amazon.co.uk:
PS3 - 3
X360 - 1

Amazon.com:
PS3 - 7
X360 - 5

Amazon.de
PS3 - 11
X360 - 5

=====

DBZ For Kinect

Amazon.co.uk:
X360 - 1

Amazon.com:
X360 - 6

Amazon.de
X360 - 2

Namco Bandai has been doing a lousy job to keep the Dragon Ball yearly video games profitable.

Well we can't really rely just on those figures though. The HD Collection has received many positive comments, though there are obviously bad ones, but from what I've seen they've generally been positive ones.

Animal Crossing is a huge title for Nintendo that completely sold out, and they revealed the sales of that game themselves. Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection is a footnote that nobody will even remember a few months from now, and Namco Bandai has no reason to surface that information. Namco Bandai isn't going to reveal the sales numbers for it until the end of their fiscal year when they release all of their sales data because outside of that greater context nobody gives a shit.

I did not know Animal Crossing was a huge title. But there are other titles that aren't really huge titles which have been released around about the same time and you can find out their unit sales. Such as Farming Simulator 2013, WWE '13(Which didn't sell very well.) and LittleBigPlanet Karting(Which did even worse than WWE '13). WWE '13 and LittleBigPlanet Karting may be semi popular games but a game like Farming Simulator 2013? I doubt its that much of a title. XD

Unless you subscribe to the NPD Group's tracking the only region in which we get often reliable sales data is Japan, and this game isn't being released in Japan, so ...

vgchartz generally has fairly accurate unit sales from various sources. I was hoping they would have some on the HD collection but it isn't even in their database yet for some reason.

It's odd that the CeX near to me doesn't have Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection. It's a new game dammit, they have Halo 4, Black Ops 2 and whatnot but no DBZ Budokai HD.

And it only has Dragon Ball Z For Kinect thanks to me. lol

My Gamestop told me that they only had two brand new copies and they have been sitting around since day one. I guess the copies are limited given how DBZ games don't sell much then they used too in the past few years.

My local EB games has the HD collection, but it's not even on the shelves. It's in the pile of old/preowned games underneath the shelves. :?

I know that there are major outliers VGChartz reported as having sold more, and less than what the respected trackers stated. Heck, I know of a few cases where VGChartz said a game sold more copies than what the publisher had even made.

It's unfortunate that the video game industry's numbers are so closely guarded. It's a devoted fanbase, and outside of Japan we never receive detailed sales reports for games, which is why VGChartz rose to popularity. Incidentally, VGChartz is generally pretty decent with Japanese sales as they'll often revise their numbers to be in line with what Media Create, Dengeki, and Famitsu report. Unfortunately the US, and EU markets are often a mystery. In the US it's a case of a monopoly in terms of trackers, with the NPD charging major money to allow publishers, and industry analysts access to sales figures. In Europe, it's just difficult to track due to so many countries. So the only definitive numbers we get for worldwide totals are from the publisher itself, and those numbers don't give us sell through to customer, or report any incidental secondary shipments which may not be big enough to register a blimp in a fiscal report.

Gamespot must get access to sales figures too, since they report when games have a large number of sales. Out of the original 'budokai' games, I like Infinite World the best, since it had none of the 'rotate the stick' minigames of Budokai 1 and none of the wacky storymode of Budokai 2. Didn't really play much of 3 when it was originally out.

Well they're semi-accurate at least. XD

At least I know the Budokai HD Collection has sold more than 2k copies, lmao.

Yes, some of the gaming media do get sales reports from the NPD group. Though they're not always privy to sharing info.

For what it's worth, I've checked the various European sales charts provided by companies like Chart Track and this game failed to chart in the UK's top 40. Failed to chart in the separate Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Ireland top 20 charts. It also failed to chart in the separate Netherlands, Germany, and Italy top 10. It lastly failed to chart in France's top 5 sales charts. Due to the fact it's the holiday season, and the fact that HD collections tend to be a slow burn (something that starts off small but sells gradually over time) I wouldn't panic or anything.

The uploader of this video argues that the U.S. version has Budokai 3's opening song kept intact: http://youtu.be/SBB6_jYO6LQ

Is this bullshit or what? :?

Dunno. I hope it's real, since I bought the American version online rather than getting the PAL version in store. :P

I think VegettoEX among others have said that the US Opening is the same as in the EU Opening.

Hiring Kageyama to do a voiceover on the new Budokai 3 Opening would cost Namco Bandai too much (probably) so they kept it instrumental only, though, it feels like it's missing a vocal.

Edit: Between a version with better graphics and the older that features the original music which also happens to be cheaper, I think for the time being I'll go with PS2 Budokai(s).

Let me confirm again, then, that the US release of "HD Collection" still has "Rock the Dragon" over the "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" animation in the first game, and has the replacement song from the initial trailer for the third game -- no Kageyama anywhere.
