The unthinkable happens. General Blue kills Arale and Goku.

They get revived, Red probably gets betrayed and killed before he can.

The thing is, King Cold was injured to the point he couldn't hurt anyone. He was begging for his life and couldn't fight back at that point.

That falls back to Future Trunks preserving history. He needs events to remain the same, aside from Goku's survival, so that he can recover relevant intelligence.

It's funny you should say that. In Supersonic Warriors, Cell kills Gero in dispute of their future plans. The sequel reverses the situation and has Gero send Cell to the distant future in paranoia. It appears they only get along for a limited amount of time!

Not necessarily. Alternatively, they capture both of them, and they're in one jar, or two separate jars. Trunks, Gohan, and Bulma would work on restoring Earth. Things might be looking up, except for the unexplained disappearances of people, leaving their clothes on the ground as if they been raptured. Trunks and Gohan may or may not investigate, but if they do, they likely won't survive against Cell.

The androids are vastly superior to Trunks and Gohan in power, if something strange happened to one of them there's no way the other would just let it slide. Even if they tried to get both at the same time, the best they'd manage would be one.

Power doesn't really mean much if you're not aware of how the Mafuba works and don't know how to counter it which #17 and #18 wouldn't. They'd probably just stand around like a bunch of cocky punks and let Gohan & Trunks do their thing and only realize they screwed the pooch too late.

I guess if Gohan and Trunks managed to get 17 & 18 stand still for a prolonged period of time while they both perform the Mafuba at the exact same time it could work, but it's unlikely.

Not really, Dragon Ball villains love to stand around and talk shit, its not out of character at all for them to see Gohan and Trunks with some dumb jars and try to act cocky before getting sucked in.

But if that's too hard to swallow, they can also blind them with Taiyoken and take them that way while they're distracted.
