It made me immediately think of Vegeta's death scene, but now the roles are reversed? Hmm....

The new screenshots bring all kinds of excitement, particularly Vegeta standing over Gokuu. Oh my god, please let it be just before he gets some big moment to shine! (and hopefully NOT yet another time where he says, "You can't defeat Kakarrot, I will be the one to beat him!" )

Freeza having grunts who actually pose some kind of a threat is an amusing (and welcome!) concept.

I imagine that Gohan may be the first to fight Freeza and subsequently get whipped before Goku and Vegeta show up from God-land. Of course, that's just an inkling, but the idea of him getting beat down by Freeza grunts doesn't sound very Toriyama-like, especially given that it seems that he has chosen a limited roster of characters for this film as to give them all more meaningful roles than simply walk-on cameos, like in Battle of Gods and the JSAT.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be Freeza who does it which would be the correct way to handle the scene here...but I really wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of grunts did it. At this point not much more dumb can surprise me.

Yeah...you're right. Probably would just have some guy with a P-Shooter do him in, or a casual neck snap from Freeza's tail.

Well can't be wished back with the earth balls, he died once in the Boo arc. May as well have stayed dead there. Though Porunga can bring him back for more jobber positions...oh goody.

Geeze man! A bit pessimistic aren't ya? Maybe I missed something, but I never really saw Gohan as the guy Toei(yama) never cared about or actively despised. I mean I guess you can argue that this was the case following the Boo arc but that was years ago. Are you talking about the Battle of Gods movie? Cause he got more action than Piccolo. Are you talking about after? Cause the guys a father now. You can't really expect him to keep training given that he's probably supporting his family. Are you talking about that recent blog post, because if then I think you're overreacting a touch as it was basically just him saying, (stretch) "Well let's see if this family man's got some fight in him left!" You know? You know its basically Kururin after the Cell arc. Its not like he can't fight anymore, its just that its been a while since he's seriously trained.

Anyways the screen shots have gotten me pretty excited about the film. I'm guessing the yellow lantern ring that Sorbet has seems to maybe amplify the power of Freeza's soldiers. It would be great if Togoma was still alive. Then maybe he and Gohan would fight. (And Tagoma would kill him... mwahahaha...)

You're missing the point. Doesn't matter what he is. If he's gonna be a fighter, they won't have him amount to much and completey skim over the potential they've portrayed as the highest among everyone. If he's gonna be a scolar, it's not gonna matter cause 0 focus will go to that, and so you'll at most hear about it. If he's gonna be a family man, the most you'll get is padding without much meaning. Some stuff to extend movie time, but mean nothing overall to the actual plot. See where I'm getting at. Doesn't matter what focus or angle they want to go, cause they won't you know...put focus on it. It won't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. It's like my beef with Police Krillin, The Hells Angels, and any of that new info. They are tidbits and probably nothing more. They mean nothing and they might as well be improv scenes. Police Krillin will probably be nothing, and maybe next time he'll be a hockey player. Why? Cause it's random. Will the Hells Angels get any depth or reasoning beyond a simple cutesy gag? Probably not. Just there to pad. That's my problem. Focus. They go nowhere with their choices if it's not Goku and maybe Vegeta now.
