FUNimation owns the distribution rights to North America. The only company that can release Dragon Ball Z DVDs or Blu-Rays or any other home format is FUNimation. Ocean Studios can not release the show on DVD.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:That's the point. The Ocean Group never released the singles, let alone dual-language. To this day, Ocean still borrowed the script from Funimation. They COULDN'T even be creative on their own or a proper script for all that matter. Now Funimation has own the right to Dragon Box masters, they just made Ocean looked like a nun.Taku128 wrote:
What? What he meant is Ocean Studios only does voices.
The point is? Funimation wins by large margin.

Well reguardless of what they did with Cowboy Beebob(another personal favorites) thats what they did for Dragonball, and yes ADV has some decent stuff too and yes I love(d) their anime on demand but its hard for me to image who they would pick to play Goku. Chris Patten, Greg Eris....NeptuneKai wrote:Wow you're grasping at straws aren't you? C'mon, can we all at least try to understand what it is we're talking about and try to put some effort into proper sentence structure?
Don't look foolish.

Sorry, its getting late. I'm starting to fall asleep. Besides, I don't even know whats up for debate anymore. I stand by my opinions on Funimation and my belief that hatred is just annoying nonsense. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so this sort of stuff is pointless.VegettoEX wrote:C'mon, can we all at least try to understand what it is we're talking about and try to put some effort into proper sentence structure?

Um, yeah, you can pretty much lock this now, Mike.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
That's impossible. This always happens in any thread where someone criticizes the dub. Somebody takes it too far and it never settles down after that.Raki wrote:Did you even read my post on the last page?DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:There. Fixed.NeptuneKai wrote: I'm an idiot.

Depends on what you mean by dub bashing. If you mean correcting flawed dubbie logic until a shitstorm occurs then yes you're right.Taku128 wrote:That's impossible. I think I have stated my opinion long enough. Too bad ADV was too late to acquire the rights to Dragon Ball.

Actually according to fellow poster on ADV's forum, they weren't even considering getting Dragonball because of the price. They were getting movies and short series at that time. We are speaking of IF they were able to get Dragonball how different things would have turned out. Your posts make no logical sense at all. How about addressing the points?DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Why yes, I did.Raki wrote:Did you even read my post on the last page?DragonBalllKaiHD wrote: There. Fixed.

Ocean still would've buttfucked DB. Almost all of their dubs are name changing atrocities with different, unfitting music slapped on. .hack//ROOTS is the only one that comes to mind as an exception, and surprise surprise, THAT show isn't very good to begin with.Taku128 wrote:You mean FUNi failed. Because the Ocean dub of seasons 1 and 2 was run by FUNimation. They had Ocean Studios do the voice acting. So if the dub of seasons 1 and 2 failed that's FUNi's fault. Also, when DBZ started airing on Toonami they only ran seasons 1 and 2 as voiced by Ocean Studios, and it became popular. After several airings of the first two seasons in their entirety, FUNimation finally started dubbing the series in-house, and season three started airing on Toonami. So basically, the English dub has always been produced by FUNimation in America, and the show managed to become popular with the Ocean voices once it aired on Toonami because they finally had a timeblock that didn't suck.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Well you said"any other company without their heads up their asses could have done it much better." Ocean tried...and failed in comparison.NeptuneKai wrote: Because that company sucked just as bad as Funi.
So now what?
EDIT: Oh, and it just occurred to me Bandai handles .hack// series in North America, which probably is the only reason Ocean was faithful with that.

Ocean Studios was a voice acting studio. They were given the lines from whoever and they simply acted the show out. They didn't do any of the writing, name changing, etc.B wrote:Ocean still would've buttfucked DB.
