That claw was edited from the Saban airing, too.

And so was Yamucha in the crater. It was just an empty crater! Both Yamucha and the Saibaiman had been exiled to the "Next Dimension," so leaving any stray body parts wouldn't make any sense.

Actually, come to think of it, that entire shot was scrapped, if I recall correctly. There was the explosion, the individual group members' reactions, and then it cut to Kuririn digging his fingers into the ground. Granted, there WERE other shots of the crater that were retained, particularly in the news footage, leading to Chris Psaros jokingly questioning why the news crews would spend so much time filming an empty crater.

No, I can't. Nicktoons that's airing DBZ Kai is not available in Asia except you use some kind of satellite that can Nicktoons that's airing DBZ Kai and why do that when you can just buy the BD or DVD or both with the "uncut" lines instead of the "ridiculous edited"! lines?Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:That or you could record the edited dub onto DVD.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Seeing all these "uncut" lines, I think I'm gonna buy DBZ Kai BD

Dragon Ball Z Kai (TV Version Edits): Episode 10 "Sit Tight Chiaotzu! Tien's Screaming Tri-Beam!"

I think this episode has every kind of edit so far. Blood edits, scenes cut, dialogue changed, an editing error... it has everything! This was one of the biggest edited episodes so far. Jeez and I thought episode 3 was bad. Here we go...
As the episode starts, Krillin is powering up to attack the rest of the Saibamen. His attack is pretty effective and kills all but one Saibaman. The last Saibaman goes after Gohan, but Piccolo stops it, punches it, throws it into the air and destroys it with a blast that shoots out of his mouth... The punch, was cut out of the TV version.

Next, Nappa powers up and everyone is just standing there bracing for an attack to come. Nappa, seemingly out of nowhere just blast Chiaotzuinto a mountain. Chiaotzu hitting the mountain was cut out...

After Nappa powers up, he goes after Tien. In Nappa's barrage of attacks he knocks Tiens hand right off. In the the TV version, the exact point we see the arm detach is cut out. This is the last frame we see in the TV version...

...as appose to this being the last frame in the uncut version...

We then get a dramatic scene of Tien holding his arm and screaming. This scene was cut in an odd way because yea, you'd expect the blood coming out to be edited but they changed the background from blue with red splatters (I guess to signify blood?) to just blue...

The fight with Tien and Nappa continue even after he lost a hand. At some point during the fight Tien screams out...

Tien is knocked to the ground and Krillin looks at the devastation that has happened and says to himself...

Why did they need to change that line? I have no idea.
Krillin then runs off, I don't know where he was going cause Tien and Yamcha were behind him in the previous shot. Nappa sees this and blast an attack towards him that leaves a huge crater. Tien then looks up at Nappa and all the blood that is visible in that shot is now gone in the TV version. I find these blood edits weird. Sometimes they re-color them brown or almost a flesh color, sometimes they don't edit it and sometimes they edit all of it out.

Seeing an opening, Chiaotzu clings onto Nappas back so that he can blow himself up taking Nappa with him. Nappa tries crashing into mountains to try and get Chiaotzu off. These shots were cut in the TV version...

We then see a close up shot of Chiaotzu as he is talking to Tien telepathically. All Chiaotzu's blood is gone...

As Tien looks on, all his blood, again is gone...

Chiaotzu then tells Tien...

I should note that there was no need to edit Chiaotzu in the above image because there was no blood in the uncut version.
Chiaotzu blows himself up. Krillin, seeing Nappa is totally fine says...

Nappa looks at Tien and says...

Tien, realizing nothing is going to work on Nappa and frustrated over the loss of his friend, in the uncut version, grabs a rock, holds it up for a second and yells "I'll gonna kill you" and then crushes it. In the TV version though, he picks up the rock and crushes it.

Tien then runs to Nappa trying to connect with a hit but nothing works, Nappa then starts attacking, punching him in the face and smashing him in the back throwing him to the ground. In the TV version the hit to the face was cut out...

Seeing that Nappa is distracted with Tien, Piccolo plans to attack Nappa with Gohan and Krillin. While Piccolo plans this we see Tien getting his ass kicked. One scene of Nappa punching Tien in the stomach and pausing for dramatic effect are cut out...

Nappa fly's into the air to give Tien the final blow and yells...

In the next shot we see some blood is re-colored...

Piccolo puts his plan into action. Everything goes fine until Krillin knocks Nappa towards Goha. Gohan starts to remember all the horrible things Nappa has done. In the flashback, we see an uncut version of Tien loosing his arm. Craziness! I can understand if the flashback happened a few episodes before, or something like that but, this just happened!

Nappa, affected by the attack says...

Next we see Kami talking to Popo about what's about to happen. Kami tells Popo...

During his conversation with Popo, Kami says...

Meanwhile, Tien tries one more maneuver and musters up enough energy to hit Nappa with a "Tri Beam". This has little to no effect on Nappa and Tien falls to the ground, dies and says...

Next, Nappa goes to attack Piccolo and Krillin. Vegeta then realizes Goku is Kakarot. Vegeta tells Nappa to stop where he is. Vegeta asks Krillin if Goku is indeed Kakarot. Krillin tells him yes it is and that when he comes you'll be sorry, to which Vegeta replies...

Vegeta thinks this is interesting and tells Nappa to wait 3 hours for Goku to get here. Nappa eventually gets impatient and asks Vegeta...

Episode 10 ends soon after that.

Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.10*
Hmm, this episode seems pretty consistent with the '96 version in terms of editing. Piccolo's punch to the Saibaiman, for example, had been edited out before. The severed arm was a bit different, as the '96 version didn't show the second shot at all, not even in a censored form. But the funny thing is that, because of that, in the '96 version, when Gohan is flashing back to Nappa's evil deeds, it shows the photographic negative shot of Nappa hitting Tenshinhan rather than the second shot, so it remains consistent, unlike this version.

Lots of edits, but none of them too surprising or show-ruining, considering where it's running. There's still no, "Look, I can see parachutes!" or "Wait until it grows back!" Amputation is amputation, death is death. Just slightly reworded.
I have to say, though, they've come a lot farther with the digital paint than ten years ago. Maybe it's Kai's better source footage, but I would not have noticed most of those blood edits on their own.

Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.10*
The blood edits are especially hard to notice because even in the original animation wounds keep vanishing and reappearing.

Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.10*

Is there even any point to this? Does anyone really think the uncut line would any more (if at all) upsetting or unacceptable than the TV line? Does the word "kill" just spark rage in parents or something?
Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.10*
I think there's actually a standards board-based set of rules on the words "kill" and "death" for off-cable children's shows. Stupid, but true. So this would 100% be a result of wanting to air on the 4Kids block.Amigo Ten wrote:Is there even any point to this? Does anyone else find it strange that this channel changes references to the word "kill" here while they have no problem with it on Avatar?

I'm sorry if this has nothing to do with the topic but I am SO @#$%^&* tired of the censorship and soccermoms in this country.
Do you REALLY think kids don't know what blood is or haven't seen it before or haven't heard the word 'killed'?
So frustrating.

Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *Updated Ep.10*
It's Nicktoons' censorship restrictions. Had this been on Cartoon Network it wouldn't have been edited as much. But yes I don't like censorship, but at least Kai is watchable. It's no where as bad as Saban's mess.LeprikanGT wrote:I'm sorry if this has nothing to do with the topic but I am SO @#$%^&* tired of the censorship and soccermoms in this country.

No, it's apparently CW's censorship standards, not Nicktoons.

I don't believe any network has specific guidelines as to what sort of language is allowed.
ALL of these networks at one point or another have aired children's programming that used such words. It's just wildly inconsistent broadcast standards between American animation and Japanese animation.
