Exactly, and that isn't limited to old Anime either. Newer Anime do it also.

But at least with older anime, the grainy quality made it a lot less noticeable.

Vegeta fighting Perfect Cell and get his ass kicked and Trunks fighting Perfect Cell. It is amazing how Trunks is constantly buffing up in the episode yet it looks always the same.

That shot is supposed to look cartoony and silly. I wish people would stop posting "bad" shots and focus on trying to find the worst looking overall episode. Even if the above shot wasn't meant to look the way it does, that doesn't mean the whole episode looks bad, and it misses the point of the thread. In fact, the episode was gorgeously animated by the awesome Studio Cockpit, and seeing so many Studio Cockpit images in this thread makes me a sad panda.

I thought this episode looked great too, but I thought the shot looked kinda werid so I quickly posted the image just for the hell of it, I am starting to forget this is a "which episode looked the worst" thread and thinking this is a thread about the worst looking shot. I apologize if I annoyed anyone.

Episode 051 is really the most horrendous looking I can think of. That's the "triangle crap" at its best... eer, worst. Whatever.

Yeah, I thought that we all agreed back in the day that the above shot was meant to be used as a distant shot, but then the camera just keeps zooming past the point it should, and so the low detail cels were brought out in all of their low detail glory.

There are countless cels like that in countless anime, it's how far away shots look. It's just that the camera zoomed in way too much. You can find millions of cels like that throughout Dragon Ball, but you can't really see the low detail of them because they are so tiny and far away.

That was the only decent-looking episode in recent Naruto memory; it was obviously a stylistic choice and not a result of people not knowing how to draw. Haters gonna hate.
