And Kai's not a kid's show?

That aside though, I'm pretty sure they'll be going with the more 'adult' version of Toonami that we saw on April 1st. That style went over pretty well I think, and since the return ad is 'Toonami's back, bitches', it's all but certain that's what they're going for this time.

I'd love if Kai got put on there though, uncut or even just nigh-uncut. Nicktoons did great with the series, but not everyone gets that channel. The CW airing being what it was...Kai would be perfect for this.
All of Dragon Ball is for kids, but uncut includes blood and whatnot.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Funimation described their new dub as being a lot more adult and they have a lot of language in the uncut version that wouldn't pass on old Toonami.

Yeah, I know. That was my point.

It was, but that just meant it wasn't dumbed down like the old dub was. It was being what the show was meant to be, instead of their adaptation. Both versions are still aimed at kids primarily though. And like I said, this isn't just Toonami, this will be 'Toonami on Adult Swim', so there's no reason to assume that even on a Toonami block that they'd have any problem showing the uncut.

I mean, didn't they air DBZ back on the Toonami: Midnight Run block in an uncut form? Though...that would have been Ocean dubbed times I think...quasi-uncut then? Or something.

Well I've watched the uncut version (Japanese subbed) with both my parents and they consider it to be an adult show so to them it is an adults show they aren't wrong.

Look like I need to update the first post now.

Great news. I don't care if not many other people will watch it, because for as long as it lasts, I will, depending on the shows they air. There are quite a few classic anime that I never watched on the original Toonami (I was all OMG DBZEE LOLZ when I was a kid, even skipping out on Slayers in the International Channel in favor of GT...), so if they air things like Tenchi Muyo, I'll give them the viewing that I neglected when I was a kid, having only seen a handful of episodes of such just when the TV happened to be on them.

It's an American channel it's gonna be in english I doubt a casual fan really want's to watch it in Japanese.
I'm tired of everyone constantly saying how bad the dub sucks Its still DB and I bet almost everyone here watched it as a kid in english.

Seems like they're just showing the regular AS lineup but calling it Toonami instead.

Well, whatever prevents a new generation of DBZ dub fans. If I have to explain why "Ally to good! Nightmare to you!" is bad writing to a whole new group of people, I'll kill myself.

I hated Dragon Ball when I was the kid, the dialogue was terribly cheesy and unpleasant then I got the season sets and watched the Japanese version, that got me into it. If you enjoy the old dub fine but for me I couldn't handle it at age 7.

Actually, that was kind of what I was hoping/thinking they could do maybe - air Kai, and then when they finished that, switch to the Boo stuff in regular Z. That way they get the whole story re-aired if it went that far.

And heaven forbid we get new fans into the mix, regardless of what version they become a fan of. New blood is such a terrible thing. *watches the sarcasm just rooooollll off of his post*

They probably just haven't changed the schedule yet quit jumping to conclusion's

(it still seems like people treat the english dub like GT)

I would also like to point out that, again - those 'new dub fans' that a lot of you all hate on so much? Some of them might eventually check out the Japanese version you tout if they stay in the fandom long enough. I did.

Don't want to rephrase that at all? Like, "new generation of fans of the 1999 dub of DBZ"...? (see: Gyt Kaliba's comment)
son veku wrote:I'm tired of everyone constantly saying how bad the dub sucks Its still DB and I bet almost everyone here watched it as a kid in english.
I was 14 when dubbed DBZ began in 1996. While I was certainly still a kid, I was 16 in 1998 when I began my website, 17 in 1999 when "season three" hit and Toonami exploded, and well into college when the series hit its prime in the United States.

I hold no nostalgia for Toonami and that version of DBZ what-so-ever, not out of spite, but because it was irrelevant to me and particularly so once the uncut DVDs hit in 2000.

To be honest the old dub wouldn't fit with this new Adult Swim infused Toonami, it really was for very young children.

If they air Kai I'd assume they wouldn't get the old Funi Boo saga. Something tells me there's some contractual mumbo jumbo that makes the original Z a package deal.
