Wow, just found this thread. Amazing. This really should be a guide on the main site.
How do you get into the Ginyu Force? With a letter of RECOOMEndation!
Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Watching the episodes again, I think a few corrections should be made:
1) "The Pterodactyl" is actually the tail end of "Goku Vs. Gyumao". I think "The Pterodactyl" was unused.
2) "PK Powered Ropes" isn't part of the M300 series (Karin Land and Tao Pai Pai), which debuted in episode 58.
3) The cues that play during the final scenes of the final episode of DBZ are not exactly the same ones as listed.
4) Not a correction per se, but regarding the cue that played during Pan's introduction, I think it might have been an unused cue from Movie 13.

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
I'm generally saving corrections for the final draft. It's how I work on projects: I have to focus on just that one thing, and in this case that means rewatching the entire series in a several-week marathon, which I currently don't have time for.
Yeah, this was something I actually figured out years ago, but procrastination won me over then, as it'll be a bit of a headache when I go in to correct each instance of this cue, since it's part of the heavily-crossfaded Ongakushu tracks. There's more than one error in there, due to my not having actually seen the original series in 2002 when I first got the 5-disc set and transcribed its program, and having to guess where one cue ended and the next began (not to mention not understanding enough Japanese at the time to realize the liner notes said A6 is PRECEDED by F48).DB1984 wrote:1) "The Pterodactyl" is actually the tail end of "Goku Vs. Where does it say on my site that PK-Powered Ropes is part of the M3XX batch?2) "PK Powered Ropes" isn't part of the M300 series (Karin Land and Tao Pai Pai), which debuted in episode 58.
OK, I'll keep that in mind when I get there.3) The cues that play during the final scenes of the final episode of DBZ are not exactly the same ones as listed.
Yes, after a while it hit me that that one was probably unused from either Movie 12 or 13.4) Not a correction per se, but regarding the cue that played during Pan's introduction, I think it might have been an unused cue from Movie 13.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Right here. That song first appeared in episode 55.

I think you're referring to Zestanor's post.

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Oh, right. Sorry.
Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Great to see Zestanor back in action with the unused cues. Some new thoughts I just had:
1) I am willing to bet that "Bumper Cars!" was an unused M3XX cue that Shigeru Miyashita dusted off for DBZ. The cue has a bongo track, just like in "Pestering Dracula Man", not to mention the 80's synths that were common in early Kikuchi DB music.
2) "The Ankle-Biter Revolution" may have been one of the unused cues from The Mystical Great Adventure. The cue sounds like it was intended for the Arale scenes.

Here I am! Yeah, sorry for the delay... umm, yeah, sorry.
I got suuuuuper burned out. But all that's left is the rest of movie 3, and the very few from Z that haven't been covered in Kei's unreleased flac-pack.

It does play early, as most of the new ones come in episode 58, but it plays well in the M500 territory (Piccolo Daimao). Do you have any other information that would prove me wrong on this?

You gotta sell me why it's not in the M300s.DB1984 wrote:Right here. That song first appeared in episode 55.

Thanks for the input. Maybe Bumper Cars will take PK Powered Ropes's place if you can sell me on bumping that one back.DB1984 wrote:Great to see Zestanor back in action with the unused cues. Some new thoughts I just had:

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Unfortunately, I do not have any information that could prove that "PK-Powered Ropes" was not part of the M3XX series. I am not sure if it resembles some of the cues from the M1XX series, or some of the cues from the M3XX series. Maybe the M3XX series did begin in episode 55, and I was wrong. The only way to find out would be to gain access to the original recording sheets, if Toei still has them, that is.
What I would really like to know, though, is how did someone find the recording session dates for all those cues? That is amazing!

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Kojiro Sasaki sent them to me in a PM back in March 2014.
[/quote]Kojiro Sasaki wrote: A friend send it to me. They are taken from Daizenshū and BGM Collection booklets. They did not write there that "this M-session was recorded then" etc. We connected the dates with M-numbers partially by guessing. All recording dates seems to fit the movies release dates and episode broadcast perfectly, so I figured out that it can be accepted. Here are the dates:
Session 1 (A-J) - '86 February 3
Session 2 (M) - '86 March 31
Session 3 (M100) - '86 August 4
Session 4 (M200) - '86 November 27
Session 5 (M300) - '87 February 17
Session 6 (M400) - '87 June 24
Session 7 (M500) - '88 January 29
Session 8 (M600) - '88 June 22
Session 9 (M700) - '89 March 24
Session 10 (M800) - '89 June 28
Session 11 (M900) - '90 February 21
Session 12 (M1000) - '90 June 22
Session 13 (M1100) - '91 February 13
Session 14 (M1200) - '91 June 26
Session 15 (M1300) - '92 February 13
Session 16 (M1400) - '92 June 18
Session 17 (M1500) - '93 February 13
Session 18 (M1600) - '93 June 16
Session 19 (M1700) - '93 August 24
Session 20 (M1800) - '94 February 15
Session 21 (M1900) - '94 June 22
Session 22 (M2000) - '95 February 11
Session 23 (M2100) - '95 June 23
I'm not sure if this list is 100% correct. You may check the dates by comparing them to movies release dates and episodes airings.

I'm done. It's done. http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... 40#p751575 Everything is there. And I'm absolutely sick of this.

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
I asked Kenisu3000 if "Bumper Cars!" and "The Ankle-Biter Revolution" were unused cues from the original Dragon Ball series. He said that it was very much possible. I then asked him what he thinks of the possibility of the former being an unused cue from the M3XX lineup, and the latter being an unused cue from the 3rd DB Movie, or the possibility that they were on Dr. Slump. He says theory 1 is much more possible than theory 2.
I suspect that the former was composed for the M3XX lineup, because it has those 80's Synthesizers that Kikuchi used in his music throughout that decade. But by the time the Anime got to the Piccolo Daimao arc, he stopped using them.

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
That makes sense. Bumper Cars has the bongos like "Pestering Dracula Man," and it is 1 minute long, which is a common length for non-movie pieces. I'll move Bumper Cars.
Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!
Hey, I never noticed that before. Cues that were nearly a minute long were for the series, while cues that were only a few seconds long were for the films.
Good observation.

What is the name of the song that plays when Goku arrives at Bulma's party/Whis eats a Cup Noodle/Goku runs towards Whis while saying goodbye to ChiChi?
Is it an original piece of music for Dragon Ball Super?

To Ree and raulvalente, I'm afraid I haven't documented anything from Super. Plus, if the cues you're looking for are indeed original music from Super, getting the cue names probably won't do you any good as I haven't heard of any BGM releases for the new series yet.
