Took the survey, answered 4:3 of course, said Dragon Ball is my favorite series, which it is. It's just kind of funny, because I just purchased the Dragon Box sets days before this was announced. I don't regret my purchase, as this proposed release may not even be 4:3, and even if it is, who's to say it will include the NEPs and everything else that makes the Dragon Box so great. Regardless, it's good that Funimation is seeking input from the fans in regard to future releases, and hopefully they'll stick to the proper aspect ratio.

That's fair enough, it's not exactly a tasteful or mature joke but heyho. Fear not, I'm not actually going to go on a killing spree over an aspect ratio.

You shouldn't regret it. The Dragon Ball "Season Sets" are an excellent product for the money. It's the least-altered/tainted of all the FUNimation releases.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I too, hope to get this release in 4:3. I just had to mention the art styles and the Ocean dub just to top the icing on the cake :P
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

What about the GT sets?

FUNimation should just release it in 4:3 and have a sticker on the front saying "SPECIAL 16:9 MODE!!! Activated by pressing the "zoom" button on your DVD remote!"

Just taken the survey, went for 4:3 of course. Tried to get across how much I care about the series and why it deserves the best release possible - basically the Dragon Boxes.

Just out of interest, how much did you pay for Dragon Box 2?

I'm not a buyer for DVDs and Blu-rays but I took the survey and it would be best if it was in its original 4:3 aspect ratio.

I've always wondered what the price difference would be if they just included both 4:3 and 16:9 in the same box. I'm sure it would increase costs somewhat, but it would be a good way to satisfy all customers.

Would anyone here complain about getting both 4:3 and 16:9 is the price was increased by $7 on the final price?

I don't regret my purchase at all. Like I said before, it's just that the timing of my purchase of the Dragon Box sets timing up with this survey was funny to me.
DHM211 wrote:What about the GT sets?
I know you weren't responding to me, but I think the GT sets are great. It would have been nice if they had the NEPs like the singles, but overall I think they're better than the Dragon Ball blue bricks, which are still good, but it would have been nice if they had all the openings & closings, but I know that's not Funimation's fault.

I bought them all in one eBay auction for $630 shipped, so unfortunately I don't have an individual price for you.

The cheapest new Dragon Box 2 on Amazon costs $615, so I guess you can consider yourself lucky now. By the way, were the ones you bought used or new?

Wow! Is it really going for that much now? Last I saw, it was around $450. About the sets I bought, it was a mix actually. 1, 2, 3, and oddly enough 7 were opened, but 4, 5, and 6 were sealed.

Wouldn't it be better to get both options so you can choose your preferred aspect ratio instead of being stuck with an aspect ratio you don't like?
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

People need to understand that "buy it now" prices aren't indicative of what things are going for. If they aren't selling, then they have no correlation to what they actually sell for. Nobody's buying Dragon Box 2 for $600.

Dragon Ball Z was made in 4:3. It cannot simply bend over backwards to fit humans' whims. We humans must bend to the truth.

You are right about Buy It Now prices (I know all about this when I was completing my NES collection), but sadly, someone did pay that much for the box set.

From the Amazon page for Box 2:

"You Must Buy It, January 16, 2013
By MARTY LOVO
This review is from: Dragon Ball Z: Dragon Box Two (DVD)
Insane awesome quality, I paid $600 for this copy totally worth it, a must have for any dragon ball z fan."

I would never pay that price and in fact it took me a little while to justify spending that much for the set, but I guess this person had no problem paying that much for one box set.

Aside from the idea that, basically, if you don't like the show the way it is, you probably shouldn't be watching it, the truth of the matter is... ZOOM! Why pay $7 or whatever more when ignorant proponents of film destruction can get what they want for free?

Psh, I say that all the time about the English dub, but then I get accused of trolling. :P
