I must say here and now, that despite the fact that Atari has sorta fixed this issue, I just can't bring myself to go through all the trouble they seem to be forcing us to do in order to get a correct GH version of Budokai 3. I really did (and still kinda do) want the Japanese VAs so I could blast through DU once more, and as well to kick ass in Dragon Arena with Piccolo Daimao, but Atari is just forcing me to do too much shit for this. I'm not about to spend $20 on a 99% chance defective copy, then most likely wipe out the save data from my original Budokai 3 just to see if it's the correct or flawed version, then have to call Atari about it and spend another $8 of mailing the disc to New York just so I can wait probably 8 weeks for a correct version. By then, I'll have to start from scratch, realize I'm out of more money than I would have had I bought the original Budokai 3 (now priced at $20 in my area, by the way), and I just don't see the Japanese VAs and the extra skins being worth all that trouble and time. I really wanted to get this release, I really did, but I'm definitively sticking with the original release. If I wanna play with the Japanese VAs, I guess I can always switch over to Budokai Tenkachi for a bit, however the original Budokai 3 will continue to remain my favorite Ps2 DBZ game. Have fun to those whom get the correct version.

This has been said before, but I'll say it again. The 'defective' GH B3 does not damage your save file. That's happened to only a couple people but it wasn't GH B3 that did it (especially since one of them lost their entire memory card). Just bad luck. The 'defective' copy is just regular B3, so if it can damage your save, so can the regular B3.

Ah, thanks for filling me in about that. However, nonetheless, I still don't see the GH 'correct' version's extras being worth the time and trouble when Atari could have just not goofed the disc packaging like they did. They made a mistake, and for that and their solution to it, I will still be avoiding this release as I have neither the time nor patience to deal with this right now. Besides, I have a feeling we'll get at least one more Ps2 DBZ game before Atari turns their heads to the next gen. consoles. *peering at scans of Chou DBZ*

When people get the new versions, try your old save files and see if they work (if you even have an old save file).

I bought the old version used, and have earned quite a bit on it. I'll probably make the swap if I can, but I'd really like to know if I can just keep all my old capsules and stuff.

My first assumption would be no, but there might be a chance.

You will be able to use your original existing save files. This has already been determined. As added proof those in Europe can use their original saves with the CE version.

Couldn't you just check if it was the correct version or not without your memory card in your PS2 if you wanted to be safe?

Ya, moving mouths, options check, etc... That should work. However, as I've said, there's no risk of save file damage period anyway. If it's the 'glitched' version it's just regular B3 which we know doesn't randomly corrupt saves. If it's the right version we know already that it will just load right up. There is no risk.

What exactly is the difference between the "fixed" GH version and the original version? And by that, I don't mean just the extras on the disc, but any disc labeling or other such things, as well.

None. They've said there wont be any difference in the packaging. So there's no way to tell which version it is until you have it in your PS2. Annoying, I know.

I've been keeping an eye out for this game, and I have yet to even see it in my area at any store. I am hoping this will mean when I find a copy it will have a better chance of being the correct one with the added features. Has anyone else bought it at a store and found it to be the updated version yet?

By normal version, I meant the pre-Greatest Hits one.

Just wanted to let you guys know, i got mine in from Atari today !!! :D The voices and the costumes are both in there !!! You still have to put the codes in for the costumes thou. :D Just a few tibits:

1. There is no barcode difference with the defective version and the fixed version. The only way you can tell is of course the cover with Goku and Vegeta and if you pop it in your PS2 and see if Pan's mouth is moving at the loading screen.

2. For those loading the previous data from Budokai 3 (non GH), click onto New Game. It will transfer over the previous data to a new save so you can continue where you left off. Make sure you have room in the memory card. If you click on load game, they will say there is no Budokai 3 data !!

3. Lastly, quick questions for those who have the JPN or PAL version of Budokai 3, How do you unlock the extra trailers in the game besides the previous ones ?? Also, i turned the Japanese cast voices on, saved it, went out of the screen, and waited for the intro to be in Japanese. It didnt show up ! Is it suppose to be unlockable as well or is it suppose to be right off the bat ??

The extras commercials in "Bonus'" can't be unlocked in the PAL "collectors' edition" of Budokai 3, and since Atari's confusing "correct" version of the greatest hits Budokai 3 is a direct port of that, it stands to reason the extra trailers aren't unlockable in that either. It's a Japanese version only exclusive, but hey, at least you're getting Piccolo Daimao, the Japanese VAs, and some improved tweaks. Like I said, I'm not gonna bother trying to go through Atari's crap to get it, they're not worth my time or patience.

Send them all to Atari for fixed versions, keep one and sell the other two on ebay. :)

Is it the "Greatest Hits" or "Limited Edition" version that you got? There's a difference you know.

Got my "fixed" copy of the Greatest Hits version today! Like Tekkaman said, it indeed has the JP Voices, 3 extra costumes, and the mouths of characters move in the menu screen. It imported my 100% save from the original version by slecting "New Game" so i checked the bonus movies, just the Budokai 2 intro, nothing new. Well actually, both movies (000 Budokai 2 intro with Japanese lyrics & 001 Budokai 2 intro instrumental) use the Japanese "Dragon Ball Z 2" logo instead of the Budokai 2 logo used in the original version. Kinda neat.

EDIT: Oh yeah! I almost forgot! Transformed Cooler's balls have sound now!

Uh...yeah. I'm kinda wondering what you mean by that. :o
What balls? Energy blasts? I'm confused. Was there something wrong with the sound before??
