No.
Toriyama colored Popo blue on the spine image for the revised Tankōbon release, but that seems to be because he's never consistent with colors, moreso than anything else.

Aww, man. So it is the same as the Japanese release, just without Toriyama's Q&A. We're going to be missing out on a lot of title pages.

It's not a deal-breaker for me, but I wish they (Shueisha AND Viz) would have simply released a physical version of the digital "Full Color" releases. Those had the original title pages and everything.

Thanks a ton for answering my question!

Hmm, it seems Amazon has put up a "look inside" preview for Vol.1. If you wanna check it out and skim through some pages...

Sorry for going off-topic but the Viz 3-in-1 volumes are bad releases and I should avoid them, right?

"Five years after the events recounted in Dragon Ball", are you fucking kidding me? This release doesn't even have the stupid "Z" slapped on it, surely they could have at least changed that line, to not cock-up the very first panel?

The problem is that this is supposed to be the first volume (since the real issue #1 is not part of this release).

It's also that these books are called "Dragon Ball" not "Dragon Ball Z". As some people probably know, I dislike the splitting of the manga, and lines like that which are inserted to imply that the story is two separate stories, but those lines are even more annoying when they actually don't belong there anymore.

My point exactly. It doesn't make sense to say "the events of Dragon Ball - Volume 1", when this is supposed to be the first volume for the average reader.

I pestered VizMedia on their Facebook page about fixing some of their translation issues, and got this in response from them:

"You should also know that we get approval from the author (in this case, Toriyama-sensei) for every translation, so it's completely false to suggest that we are disrespecting the author's wishes."

That cannot possibly be true for Mr. Satan's name change or Boo the Djinn, can it?

I'm going to go with Toriyama not being bothered by some changes that fans take pretty hard. Maybe he was fine with Mr. Satan being changed since Viz did use the name once, and explained the change.

Maybe some changes he just didn't remember, or liked.

You actually think those changes bother Toriyama in the slightest or at least enough to actually tell them "no"?

Also, Djinn is perfectly valid and correct for "majin", as it has been discussed and stated many times, including by Herms.

At best I assume someone at Shueshia went over it and Toriyama signed his name somewhere. It is still a solid translation overall.

And I still think it would be cool if we could get them to change the censored name to Mark.

"Boo the Djinn" isn't really a change, though, and I'm fine with it. The problem I have is with lines like "Five years after the events recounted in 'Dragon Ball'..." and everyone's inconsistent dialogue (especially Piccolo's and Chichi's).

Even if Toriyama was against it artistically there is still no way he wouldn't do it. It's not like Viz goes asking authors, "May way please change your precious creative vision?" It more than likely it goes along the line of, "if you don't allow us to change this your books will earn less money." That's all that it comes down to, right? Most changes (especially for DB) would have been done to reach a wider audience.

Do you think Viz is going to release the entire portion of Z, then hopefully go back and do the first half? If, so odds of it being completed in about years time (the Z portion anyway)?.

For the US, it mostly works though. The events in "Dragon Ball" not are in "Dragon Ball Z", nor are they a part of "Dragon Ball Full Color" for the time being. The only real argument to be made for that line being redundant is in the 3-in-1 editions.
