Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
I would say getting a Japanese 3DS is a good idea.
I was lucky to get a limited edition gold Pokemon 3DS XL preowned on eBay for £120. So that came with Pokemon X (with language change options), and a few other bits from the previous owner. I then took to eBay to get UM1 and UM2, and bought a points card for 1000 Yen for the E-Store for the 2 Japanese DBZ 3DS themes. I also (unrelated) grabbed a hilarious Japanese 3DS theme of a Japanese schoolgirl with two mens faces carved into her knees. Bizarre, awesome, and hilarious!

That was something else I wondered about. Some people have said their CCs work with the J-eShop, some said they haven't. Is it pretty easy to track down Japanese points cards?Wilderness wrote:I would say getting a Japanese 3DS is a good idea.

My card works on their E-Store but it charges me £1.50 per transaction, therefore it's a little cheaper to grab a JPN points card if you intend in purchasing multiple items. They're super easy to find. Just search "japanese estore points card" on eBay. They're pleasantly cheap and the sellers email you the code very quickly. Thanks for the heads up! I caved and found a great deal on a Japanese 3DS from someone selling in the USA. Thankfully, it should be here by the end of the week. Plan on getting UM2 from the eShop IMMEDIATELY, Lol.Wilderness wrote:My card works on their E-Store but it charges me £1.50 per transaction, therefore it's a little cheaper to grab a JPN points card if you intend in purchasing multiple items. I've been looking at some gameplay footage from the ShonenGameZ YouTube account. The game seems pretty straight forward, it's all about learning the mechanics of the game. I found a really good guide on GameFAQs that details exactly how to go through the 5 rounds of a battle which really explains a lot.
Can't wait to play!
Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
This is actually the guide I found. Didn't realize you posted it earlier. Not complete as you said but truly helpful to understand the game mechanics. Thanks for posting it, as well as all your other posts that really explain the game.UpFromTheSkies wrote:Not all cards have Ultimate Unit abilities, only the cards with the faces of three characters shown towards the bottom left of the card have them, and not all Ultimate Unit abilities are attacks, only the ones with a cost of 10 hero energy are attacks. The special attack Janemba is doing is a deathblow, every card has one, and each deathblow has a hero energy cost. Hero energy is earned each round depending on where your cards are positioned, and some cards have abilities to give you more hero energy. The blue crystals or boxes shown in the top left corner of your screen during battle are your hero energy.Wilderness wrote:Thank you for the link! Trying to figure it out a bit better, struggling but getting there.
I've never even heard of an Ultimate Unit attack? I know Baby Janemba does a special attack on the third round. Is it character specific? How do I enable it?
After watching a YouTube video about it, someone is using SSJ3 Gogeta, SSJ3 Gotenks and the avatar. I have each of those but nothing has ever happened.
If you haven't read the guide over at gamefaqs, you should check that out, it doesn't cover everything, but it's really helpful http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/778834-drag ... faqs/69775

Actually, now that I think about it -- is the game actually on the Japanese eShop? Or do I need to purchase the physical cartridge of UM2 to play it?

Yep! It's there. It's a whopping 6,145 yen, though.kizuki wrote:Actually, now that I think about it -- is the game actually on the Japanese eShop? Or do I need to purchase the physical cartridge of UM2 to play it?

Thanks, dude. Guess I'll check eBay and Amazon. Though, I don't think the prices will be drastically different.VegettoEX wrote:Yep! It's there. EDIT: Yep, so .. Checked eBay. Looks like the average is around $60 U.S., since these guys know they're shipping an import game to USA they're gonna over charge a bit. $50 for the eShop would probably be the cheapest as of now.
Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
So, I got the UM2. Loving it.
Just a few questions that I haven't found the answers to:
1.) Which wish from Shenron is for the SSJ abilities for your avatar. ShonenGameZ put up most of the wishes. I know the first one is to change the avatar, the next wish to the right is to go up a class, etc. However, I can't seem to find the wish that grants SSJ. I'm 1 DB away from getting Shenron after I've already classed up twice, wanna make sure I'm doing the right one to get SSJ3.
2.) Apparently there is a way to change your avatar's move set in the menu portion. Anyone know how to do this?
Regardless, game is super fun so far and I'm halfway through with the Saiyajin Saga after some DB farming and messing around.
Any help is much appreciated. Seems like this thread is still the most active one out of all boards on the InternetZ.
Thanks!

Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
Well, as soon as you turn on the game, your avatar character will be on the left of the screen; the green button at the bottom is 'Hero Data'; from there, the three 'settings' (Berserker, Hero and Elite from left to right) will be selectable. Just click on the one you already are and the move list will appear, from which you can simply select whatever you've unlocked; alternatively of course you can change your type and do the same if the default move isn't to your taste
(sorry if this isn't the question you were asking, exactly; I thought this was it, though!) If you want to do the same whilst in Ultimate Universe mode, on the touch screen it's the second yellow button ('Status', between 'Genki Dama' and 'return'), to the right above the map. The method is the same in this case.
As regards which Shenron wish option you're after... I can't actually recall, off the top of my head; I know I just did it to get SSJ2 (I wasn't really bothered about level-upping my avatar character until now, despite nearly having finished the game [although I still have to get like 900 cards ¬_¬]), but I can't remember what it was called... next time I'll check and if no-one's responded I'll let you know
EDIT: It seems like after using 'Avatar Super Class-Up' to get to the final avatar form, the next time you get the Black Star balls the option will be available... I just had the option to get to the final form, but opted for the extra slot instead because I didn't want to go back to level 1
Next time I'll check!
It's good there's discussion on the game going on here, since Gamefaqs et al seem pretty much dead at this point... If you want any info about getting SSG and SSGSS Goku, Golden Freeza etc, just let me know, as I have most of those newer 'special' cards after going for them this past week.

Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
Spoiler:
So, is SSJ only available with the Black Star Balls/Ultimate Shenron wish? I read somewhere that the wishes were the same but BSDB give more EXP than the normal ones. I'm assuming amongst the Japanese text of the wishes, if I see a "3" it could very well be SSJ3, though I could be wrong. It's weird that ShonenGameZ, who seems to be the only site that has dedicated translating the wishes didn't include that. I sent them a tweet on their Twitter account, so we'll see.
And yea, I'm using the guide on GameFAQs as a reference, but using google translate for anything abilities that aren't updated on there.
Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
So, I dedicated most of my lazy, summer day to grinding out the REGULAR Dragon Balls and seeing what each wish does (except for the first one -- I know what the first one does, and the one that gives 300EXP as well). Here's what I came up with:
EDIT TO WISH 5 & 7 --
Regular Dragon Balls: WISHES ARE IN ORDER FROM FIRST OPTION GIVEN THEN EVERYTHING TO THE RIGHT.
1.) Change Avatar - Choose a new Avatar, start back to Level 1.
2.) Raise Avatar Class - Can be done twice.
(After No. 2 is done twice, it goes away. For the sake of the list, I'll number everything as if that option is still there)
3.) Gain 300 EXP
4.) Increase Friendship with 3 Characters - Not sure how this is picked, but if you hit the "No" option the first character fades away and a new one pops up from the back of the list.
5.) Learn Deathblow
6.) Shenron Medal - I read this is the grinding part of the game (aside from 2,000+ cards) and "X" amount give certain effects at the start of each battle.
7.) SSJ Transformation

Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
According to this site- http://enjoigame.sakura.ne.jp/dbhu2/ult ... bonb.html- when you collect the Dragon Balls you get six options, the fifth of which is 必殺技を覚える・強力な必殺技を覚える which means 'Learn a new Ultimate Technique: Learn a powerful Ultimate Technique' (or whatever they usually translate things like the Kamehameha and Final Flash and other 'hissatsu waza' into in the context of this game, I don't recall
) So that should also be one of the options? I'm not sure how they vary based on achievements/ conditions, mainly because I just haven't really paid enough attention whilst making a wish.
If only I was anywhere near my 3DS I'd check, because all I know is when I collect all the Dragon Balls of any type I just quickly flick until I find what I want and get it over with instead of, you know, actually PAYING ATTENTION, which might have helped... sigh.

Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
Yea, it seems like the 5th wish is regards to learning a "Deathblow" Technique. Very odd. This could result in how my Avatar got, what looks like, Vegeta's "Final Explosion" .. since I'm not quite sure how I got that. I can't really figure out how my Avatar got SSJ, either. Very odd. I haven't had the opportunity to grind out the DBs again today and make that same wish to see what happens. Also, I'll check to see if the 5th wish matches the Japanese posted on that site you linked. I'll eventually get that done today and post my findings.Cypher wrote:According to this site- http://enjoigame.sakura.ne.jp/dbhu2/ult ... bonb.html- when you collect the Dragon Balls you get six options, the fifth of which is 必殺技を覚える・強力な必殺技を覚える which means 'Learn a new Ultimate Technique: Learn a powerful Ultimate Technique' (or whatever they usually translate things like the Kamehameha and Final Flash and other 'hissatsu waza' into in the context of this game, I don't recall) So that should also be one of the options? Also, that wish list may be a bit outdated. There's that 7th wish in regards to the new card. Even with the Avatar Class Up wish gone, there are 6 wishes still, so 7 in total. Could be from the last 1.4 patch, maybe?
EDIT --
Welp, at this point I've grinded to the point where I've made every wish -- still can't figure it out. LMAO -- Are we sure that we definitely get Super Saiyajin levels for our Avatar through wishes? It's so odd. I literally just did the 5th wish again and all I got was another Deathblow move (this one for 7 Hero Energy). Even that list from the site translated mentions NOTHING of the Super Saiyajin transformation -- yet, somehow my avatar has SSJ1 through both Class Up wishes. Nothing even remotely makes sense ..... game is still epic, though.

Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
Wish translations are here http://www.shonengamez.com/2014/08/17/d ... nslations/
For Saiyan avatars, you have to wish for class up, then ssj1, class up again, then ssj2, class up again, then ssj3, so you'll need to make 6 wishes to become SSJ3. The wish options can change, and different dragons can grant different wishes. Something you may find useful is the google translate mobile app, you can take pictures of text and it will translate it... it doesn't usually work though if the text has a flashy background, or if the text is very stylized.
For the deathblows, you can earn them by leveling up, wishing for them, or by building up friendship with different characters. Every time you play with a character, the friendship level goes up, each level unlocks different things, and you usually get a deathblow when friendship is maxed out for that character. The guide at GameFAQs explains all of this in detail, so check that out.

Seems I have quite a bit to go when learning Japanese, as I should know when I see "Super Saiyan" .. ah' well. I called this entire thing research.
Thanks for the help everyone!

Re: "Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2" (JP 3DS)
The Heroes games are one of the best Dragon Ball games out there. I know the UM2 has much more cards and playable characters but the UM1 it's a little easier (the "press the button" QTE it's far easy), so I'm still playing it. Also, I have around 500+ cards in UM1. To discover the SSJ wish I looked in SSJ cards to "discover" the SSJ kanas.
Thanks this game, I'm currenlty learning japanese. I want to play with all the abilities.

So, we can expect an update at some point with all these new things happening for the arcade version, right?
