Will there be an advertisement trailer for this DVD set? that'd be cool to see. :)
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Ohh, all right. My bad, I can see now that there's an 'I' there instead of an 'E'. ^_^; Kudos to your friend Stephanie for great work as well!

I haven't been following that particular Tumblr, but I do follow a different Lupin tumblr that posted about those restoration images a while back, so I was already blown away with how great it was looking.

In the end, it's precisely stuff like this (as well as them reaching out for the right people to work with on these projects) that has made Discotek one of my absolute favorite companies as of late - they're putting out awesome, classic material, and doing it in a pretty awesome manner regardless of how 'niche' it may or may not be. Again, kudos all around!

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I've ever seen an ad for any of Discotek's products. From what I've seen they've mostly gotten releases known via word of mouth on the internet, but I could be wrong.

...At least in their case though, it's forgivable if there's no trailer. Not like with Viz, a larger, more established company, not making one for one of it's products...or even putting any trailers at all on it's release, almost like they don't even deem it worth pimping out Naruto and Bleach on...or even putting any effort into the release at all...not that I'm still bitter about I"s, or anything. :P (That reminds me, I still need to double-dip for Discotek's re-release of DNA2 too...dammit, I'm not made of money!)

That I can definitely tell you no! Unfortunately the only way we'd have a trailer is if I had time to do it, and production on Cagliostro is taking almost all my free time.

Here's some screenshots directly from the DVD, though. Please note, this DVD is widescreen but the caps are the native 720x480 (I didn't have time to resize them), so they look a bit squished. Rest assured the DVDs are proper anamorphic!

Off topic, but yes Discotek is doing Cagliostro on Blu-Ray. No idea if it'll work in an Australian region B player though. The UK also has a region B Cagliostro Blu-Ray already on the market though. (It's pretty good, but probably not as good as Discotek's since they're including both dubs and probably some really rad extras.)

And more on topic, soon as this went up on Amazon, I put my pre-order in for it! I really appreciate all the work put into this and hope it leads to us getting more Slump in the future!

Sorry to be off-topic, but I have the UK Bluray and it's good, but unfortunately the Streamline dub goes way out of sync by the end. :( It's the main mistake I'm going to make sure we don't make on our Bluray. Haha! And we have some cool stuff planned. David Hayter recorded an interview with us (super nice dude.), and we have a bunch of other cool stuff.

On topic, I'll dig up the disk designs later and show those if I have time. :)

These screencaps look gorgeous. The colors seem to have been properly corrected like the HD remaster of Hokuto no Ken. I hope Toei will do the same with the DB series someday, but they are actually pretty lazy these days that they are releasing old TV series on Blu-ray by upconverting old SD footage for DVD releases without any color correction.

It must be really fun to make a living from something you love, Ashura. I wish I could, too.

No, there's no slip cover unfortunately. Just no budget for it. Thanks for letting me you know that you preordered it though, Kei and gang! Please also make sure you thank Herms, because he went above and beyond for this release too.

If you want to see what the full cover looks like though, here's an exclusive just for Kanzenshuu!
Shame about no slipcover I'd have loved to have it with the DVD but oh well, no biggie.

The cover looks pretty creative, original and stunning so I can't wait to own my own copy of it. ^_^

Whoa, the PQ looks great for the films.

It's not only here but also on Discotek's Facebook, as well as Fandom, ADC and other places people are anxious for this so hopefully it'll be a success and thus far allow Discotek to sub the 80's series too. :D

Thanks for the screencaps Ashura! Holy crap the footage for this looks amazing. I'm not even the type of person who's that big on video quality issues, but I'm drooling here. Remind me again why this set isn't already in my hands? :P

Not to go too far off topic, but I'm curious - are there any other properties for Discotek that you've been able to work on, or has it so far just been Lupin and Slump? I ask mostly because it's my understanding that this kind of work is pretty freelance, as a friend of mine got to work on the Monster Farm release (not sure if they've also gotten to work on the dub Monster Rancher release).

Do any of the Dragonball characters make any appearances in any of these movies out of curiosity? maybe just in the background somewhere haha

The Dr. Slump cast had a brief crossover with Goku and friends in the original Dragon Ball during the Red Ribbon arc, that's the connection. You could argue that Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball takes place in the same universe.

For meta-related reasons,

1) Both Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball are creations of the same author, Akira Toriyama.
2) Both anime adaptations are animated by the same company (Toei), along with both sharing the same musical composer (Shunsuke Kikuchi).
3) People who are involved in the Kanzenshuu community have contributed towards the production of this DVD set. (Ashura, Herms, etc...)

Those good enough for ya? 8)
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

In the original series, Dragon Ball they had one episode (#057) completely dedicated (plus partially the third film of Dragon Ball too) to Dr. Slump which not only had Shunsuke Kikuchi music from the Dr. Slump series but also Goku was involved in it. Yeah, Mr. Kikuchi also composed and worked with Toriyama before the hit-series Dragon Ball commenced.

Then there was New Dr. Slump series which had more to do with Dragon Ball than the 80's and lastly, I think it was the thirteenth Dragon Ball Z film which featured Trunks holding King Nicochan & his partner from the Dr. Slump series, IIRC.

So as you can see Dr. Slump has a lot to do with Dragon Ball.

I think Lemmy's point is that this movie set specifically has nothing to do with Dragon Ball...

... but let's be honest: I'm allowing it 'cuz we want it to sell. I'm a rule breaker, I admit it. I'll show myself out the door.
