I like 'em actually, they make it REALLY clear what the rating actually is (Green for G, Yellow for PG, Blue for M, Red for M15+ and Black for X). With ESRB you have squint a bit before you can actually tell what it is, at least IMO. I will say I think they are a bit too big, thoughJohnnyCashKami wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 10:55 pm Australian TV/Movie home releases have that ugly Australian Rating System on them but the good thing is that Madman at least offers reversible covers.
UPDATE: Fixed subtitle files added to OP. The Broli movie will use dub names in its subtitles, at Toei's request.

It's at least not as bad as Germany's USK rating logo:KBABZ wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:15 pmI like 'em actually, they make it REALLY clear what the rating actually is (Green for G, Yellow for PG, Blue for M, Red for M15+ and Black for X). Ugh, European boxes are the worst because they have to come with multiple ratings just to cover all the various countries!JohnnyCashKami wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:25 pm It's at least not as bad as Germany's USK rating logo:

If it's a standard release then it just comes with PEGI, if it's a special edition then with multiple rating logos.KBABZ wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:34 pmUgh, European boxes are the worst because they have to come with multiple ratings just to cover all the various countries!JohnnyCashKami wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:25 pm It's at least not as bad as Germany's USK rating logo:

I'm personally a fan of the PEGI rating logo as it takes hardly any space and it doesn't get in the way of a cover's artwork. Better yet would be if there was no rating logo at all.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I really want to buy Super Broly with dubist subs and green tint, or one or the other. I just might buy the Spanish and/or Portuguese Blu-ray (if it gets released) but then there's the question.. does it have green tint too? Smh. What have you done, TOEI.
Re: The Broli movie will use dub names in its subtitles, at Toei's request. Could this become the new "standard"?
The dub names are really a shame. I did notice that I wasn't as upset as I thought I'd be while watching the movie, and I think it is because I watched all of Super on Crunchyroll which also uses them, so I'm used to it. But to put them on home release is so bad.JohnnyCashKami wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:53 pmIf it's a standard release then it just comes with PEGI, if it's a special edition then with multiple rating logos.KBABZ wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:34 pmUgh, European boxes are the worst because they have to come with multiple ratings just to cover all the various countries!JohnnyCashKami wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:25 pm It's at least not as bad as Germany's USK rating logo:

At least the UK version still has "Bra" and fixed an incorrect line translation from Paragus (Incorrect: "My Broly will be killed!" vs. Correct: "I will be killed by Broly!"). But Freeza's name is uttered several times in the movie, so that definitely got annoying seeing "Frieza" all the time.

I wonder what tomorrow’s news from Manga UK will be? I doubt they can make it region free and I don’t think it’ll be surprise extras that they got at the last minute (they’ve said their disc does not have any extras because they weren’t given any).
...could it be...the subs...!?

No, there is no way that would be it. The subs are a Toei thing.Char Aznable wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 12:36 am I wonder what tomorrow’s news from Manga UK will be? I'm tempted to buy Manga UK's Blu-ray (standard with slipcover) if, IF it doesn't have the green tint and it would be even better without the "Frieza" thing too.
I take it that the Blu-ray Steelbook just comes with a Blu-ray and a DVD, no booklet (other Manga UK BDs did come with one). I'd totally go for the Blu-ray SB if it would feature a booklet.

It has already been confirmed to not have the green tint. 99.9% chance it keeps "Frieza" though.JohnnyCashKami wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 1:05 am I'm tempted to buy Manga UK's Blu-ray (standard with slipcover) if, IF it doesn't have the green tint and it would be even better without the "Frieza" thing too.

That's fantastic. Just need to know if the Steelbook comes with something special or not, it I'll go with the Slipcover Blu-ray.Forte224 wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 1:08 amIt has already been confirmed to not have the green tint.

Why is it that Funimation's release has the green tint but Madman's does not? This is confusing.

TOEI sent FUNimation, Madman and Manga UK different versions? That's my assumption.gokaiblue wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 1:58 am Why is it that Funimation's release has the green tint but Madman's does not? This is confusing.
Just pre-ordered the Steelbook Blu-ray by Manga UK but if it's not worth it, I'll just cancel the order. That's the good thing on Amazon, I don't have to send the company an email to get it done. x)
Re: The Broli movie will use dub names in its subtitles, at Toei's request. Could this become the new "standard"?
Doesn't seem like it has any extras. The FUNi one doesn't (other than a digital code and a promo for the manga, but nothing special). But it sure does look nice.JohnnyCashKami wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 1:11 amThat's fantastic. Ajay speculated why. If his speculation is correct, it seems more like the UK version dodged a bullet than anything.gokaiblue wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 1:58 am Why is it that Funimation's release has the green tint but Madman's does not? This is confusing.

Not having extras doesn't make sense but neither does using dub names on subs. Let's see if it changes. It's going to be released on May 27, after all.

I saw it in theaters and definitely don't recall a green tint. It has been three months though, so I might not be remembering it clearly.Forte224 wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 2:06 amAjay speculated why. I'm having a hard time accepting that we're forced to read "Frieza-sama".

I didn't notice the green tint on my PC monitor as I tweaked it but I've seen it now on my Samsung tablet. Awful. Just awful.
Please, Manga UK, please don't use the "Frieza" spelling.
There's still time.

This is all so bizarre. By all accounts it's looking like Manga UK's release will be the superior version of this movie. I'm so used to Manga UK's releases being either identical to the US releases, or objectively worse because they went in and did unnecessary tinkering that messes things up (such as their Shingeki no Kyojin release throwing out the original subtitle script and replacing it with one that was terribly translated).Ajay wrote: Mon Apr 15, 2019 6:47 pmOn the plus side, the Manga UK guy I know informed me that they fixed the mistranslated Paragus line I reported!simtek34 wrote: Mon Apr 15, 2019 5:05 pm Bad news.
