I agree.

I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

Isn't it supposed to be in color? Or is it your camera?

Ah, cheers for that, that's the best price I've seen so far. And here I was thinking I'd have to order it from America.

You filled my request, without noticing. I thank you a lot. That site rocks and free shipping and it's in UK. How happy can you be.

Also Tanooki, does have the same paper quality?

I'm buying this, like right now from Amazon.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Trying to order it, but my mum has my card.
BookDepository.co.uk has it for £5 cheaper than Amazon.co.uk, try there, Brits!

I'm Dutch and I also ordered from there :D. I'm so happy. Free shipping and fast. At Amazon I would have to wait 1 month before I could get it. I can't can't can't wait to have this in my hands.

I am really kinda peeved cause no one is going to be at my house for a week, so I can't order anything cause it will just sit outside in the rain, *cries*

I'll just have to wait till Thursday or next week or something. And why does this book only show up on amazon if you type in the full name. I put in just Dragon Ball Illustrations and it didn't come up.

I would like to add that earlier today when I bought it earlier, Dragonball: The Complete Illustrations was ranked 99 among Viz's Comics and Graphic Novels. Now it's ranked 55, so it must be doing really well.

Well, this is fantastic news! I'm sure I'm not the only person here who thought that the book would be heavily edited. I'm definitely gonna pick this up along with the latest Viz release of Eyeshield 21 at Borders.

As for the issue of whether they'll release the others or not, I'm of the opinion that they removed the #1 on the front cover for this release in the case that the book doesn't sell well. Though from what we've learned about it being a perfect US release of this book, I don't think that should be a problem. Like EX said, people should just put their money with their mouth is. Hopefully, that'd be enough. Kanzentai's job of translating the daizenshuu is fine and all, but there's something about having an actual tangible book that you can flip through that the internet just doesn't get through.

My side theory about the lack of the #1 is that the daizenshuu were originally released with 7 plus the additional volumes 8-10. 8 and 9 are pretty much guaranteed that they won't see the light of day in the US, and it'd be weird if they name daizenshuu 10 as such without 8 and 9, so the whole lack of numbers could be a benefit. It also makes it so Viz isn't obligated to release these things in order. For all we know, they could start off with the manga only stuff followed by the anime stuff and then finally bring it on home with the massive volume 7.

Also good to know that the anime-centric daizenshuu are at the least a possibility. If anything the fact that terminology is different between the English manga and anime could make the guide books that much more interesting. I can already imagine the excessive amount of asterisk notes explaining crap like "Cultivars" and "Vegerot".

That actually seems pretty likely to me. Viz has done similar things as articles in issues of Jump time and again. It wouldn't be too hard or far-fetched for them to whip up something for the US version of the Daizenshuu.
I know they've also done similar things with that Naruto fan guide book and volumes of One Piece that had some fan art submitted in them.

Either way, at the least we can finally say that we've got a perfect release of at least one daizenshuu for the English speaking community :D.

I have a feeling that's why amazon suggests that we tag products so it's easier for others to find 'em online. Word order might have something to do with the search not coming up, too.

Is it me or does the VIZ version look sharper than the Japenese one?

I think that the fact that VIZ's Daizenshuu aren't numbered more likely means that they will be releasing them out of order than them not releasing them at all. If they were properly numbered that wouldn't mean they have to release them all, but if they were numbered and they released them out of order there would be a problem.

That's the German translation of Daizenshuu 1.
