No they aren't, jesus. As a conneisur of hair colour, I can tell you dark brown and black are not the same colour. Dark brown is much more washed out than black, or more red toned shades of brown. I don't really care what "Most people" think since their taste fucking sucks. But most people who do pay attention to hair colour would hold black hair in higher regard than brown.
You know, Akira Toriyama often drew brown shine on Vegeta's hair, if he has brown hair in the sequel, if there is one, are you going to be pissed?
That's one character, and a "Brown shine" is still different from brown hair.
Captain over-reaction. Hair color doesn't mean shit. As long as Goku's and the rest of the Saiyan characters have dark hair, that's all that matters. You are reacting like they made Goku have blond hair.

Excuse me, I rather think I can speak for what "means shit" to me. You've really been obnoxious over the last few posts, typical bullshit elitist attitude towards "fanboys". Calm down, jesus. Maybe you should look at your own over-reactions. Some people will have different opinions to you as to what's important and "hair colour doesn't mean shit" is hardly a compelling argument, just you acting like an ITG.

Woah, you misunderstood me completely. I should have used different wording I guess. Sorry to have used the word "shit".
I personally think in the grand scheme of things, having Goku have dark brown hair, as opposed to black isn't that big of a deal, and I think people who see it as a major problem are over reacting.
I personally think the bigger problem is Justin Chatwin's light colored eyes, because the transition from Blue to Green for Super Saiyan in a later movie, if there is one, will not be all that drastic, unless they make it look really shiney/glowy or something.

Not that anyone cares, but... They just launched the official dutch site. They didn't even subtitle the trailer yet...

Anyway, guess I was wrong when I thought we'd get the site after the US would. What countries are left now anyway? (except for the US?)

Chatku having blue eyes does kinda bug me, but its not a deal breaker.

Chatku being an angsty high school student who has fruit-related fantasies about Chi-Chi is a deal breaker.
Mess with my favorite character's personality so badly that I can't even recognize him and I'm not going to pay you the cash to go see your movie in theaters.

(And yeah, Vegeta has really really dark brown hair. I'm ok with that. I mean, in some shots Goku's hair has blue highlights in it.)

Its kind of ironic how FOX is hitting up all of Europe and Asia first in terms of getting official websites up.

Well from what JAPPO released he appears to be a fairly confident but a bit DUH DUH teenager. So, maybe he will turn out quite Goku like in the end.

Er, all full-blooded Saiya-jin hair is black...

I understand it's supposed to be, but in the Bardock special and in other flashbacks aren't there Saiya-Jins with brown hair?

Also King Vegeta

Also, if a Saiya-jins hair remains the same from birth, then how did Vegeta grow a mustache in GT. shouldn't he have just had it eventually, I mean we never see Vegeta shave until GT, and he spent a year in a space pod and nothing happened. I guess to grow his mustache it took the time from after Z till GT to grow?

I can only hope so.

The cover of that third chapter book looks about as close as they've gotten in terms of looks; but I'm more worried about his dialogue.

The Bardock special, most of the flashbacks, and GT are all filler. So those probably shouldn't be taken into account. Unless you're just going by anime.

It's just an inconsistency. Vegeta's line should have been altered to all Saiya-jins have "dark" hair.

I mean as I posted up there, King Vegeta had brown hair, and although I think he only appears in filler, Toriyama definitely had enough power to be like, "Um hey, all Saiya-Jins have BLACK hair!" To the colorist guys or whoever.

I'm on the laptop so I can't bring up my imageshack account at the moment (where I've got loads of screenshots from the new animated special), but here; from Daizex's image gallery: Image

I assume as long as the hair in general is really dark, a tiny dash of color isn't gonna kill it.

You know.

Think of King Vegeta.

Its not like he was born with a goatee.

Saiyans can grow facial hair. Nappa had a mustache too.
They also cut their hair, Nappa used to have hair, as shown in the Bardock special.

Vegeta has always had Brown Hair, it was just so dark it looked black, in good lighting you could see the brown shine on it.

Brown Shines don't happen to Black Hair.

It's safe to say this:

The entire movie, I think, is about Goku's "evolution" as a character. While other characters have enough screen time, obviously Goku is the star. While he may start off out of character, by the end of the movie he is exactly like the anime. There's stuff that happens (especially near the end) that separates Goku from other super heros. To be honest, he has a lot more depth than the anime, while still keeping the heroic, naive, stupid (although it has been downplayed) personality mostly intact.

I think the changes make sense. You may not agree with them, but I don't think you'll argue that they aren't for nothing. It's clear the writers aren't trying to ruin the anime.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

In the anime, yes.

In the manga his hair was always black, so when Toriyama added the line about all Saiyajin having black hair, it was true from his perspective. All the inconsistencies are Toei's fault, really. If anything they should have changed the line to 'dark hair' -- it still would have worked in the context the comment was used in.

To be honest, adding "depth" doesn't necessarily mean I'd enjoy a character any more than I already do. Some people might like an angstier Goku, but I'm perfectly content with the one Mr. Toriyama and Toei have laid out on the table already. I don't need any vinaigrette dressing on my ice cream.

I won't judge this "deeper" Goku until the actual junior novel comes out, but my current opinion based on what has been released so far about him is that they're just trying to ground his quirks out of him and wedge a square peg in a round hole.

Though I'll probably check it out too, I don't have much confidence in the Junior Novel to provide any sort of in-depth look into anyone's character development. I wish there was a more adult, actual "novelization" of the film coming out.
