Though my preference lies in the Japanese music, the Faulconer score will forever have a place in my heart. I simply will NOT have 2 different DBZ releases on my shelf. It's gotta be one or the other for me, plus if I bought the DBOX, I'd want to sell my Season Sets. I guess for me, my heart lies in audio content rather than Video content. As much as I despise the look and problems of the earlier Season Sets, and the 16:9. I'll take it if it means I still have the option to hear a sentimental sound.

To me, I don't see why FUNi WOULDN'T put it on. I mean it's not really hurting anyone to be on there. You don't have to listen to it. Plus it's certainly a wiser business move. After already releasing DBZ in nice cheap Season Sets obviously there's not a huge market for this like there was back in 2006 when Season 1 was announced. I realize WHO they're marketing this for. But with the money they probably had to shell out to get this footage, how can they expect to make a good profit on a series that they just got done releasing for a cheaper price than this release will be. I mean really...

2006: HUGE MARKET for DBZ Box Sets -- FUNi releases 9 at $50 Retail each.

2009: People just coming off buying the Season Sets. Much smaller market -- 7 at $80 Retail each.

FUNi has to realize that there are people like me who are willing to re-buy the complete series for a 3'rd time. But ONLY IF we get the Dub Music. It really is a wiser choice.

Also I hear some people mentioning reverse importing. People in Japan importing these from the states. Er...I've got this to say...Remember when people were actually complaining that the Japanese DBOX didn't have English Subs on it? To me this is the same thing. This is an AMERICAN release. What people in Japan think should have no bearing. It's not a product for them.
But they can understand japanese voice track and almost everyone on this planet have english at school so we can working with fact that everyone buying this box in Japan, can understand the US menu at least (and english in japan is quiet issue). It's not even product for me and I can understand english in it's variety (And I can even talk well, if it's not to much scary for all of you) if you don't count some special words from professional science etc.
And you can't see black and white, they are Japanese people who can fully understand english or collectors.

God, I can't imagine how sickened everyone would be if Funi discontinued the Dragonboxes half way through because they found there wasn't a big enough market for them. Loads of people would have sold their Season sets or singles already...There'd be war.

Wow over sixty pages in two days. It'ld take the entire day to read it all. Could the post be edited and updated with new news regarding this? Just so we don't have to weed through ten or fifteen pages everyday.

I'm still gonna grab Season 9 and the last two movies cuz it's gonna take a while for them to get up to that point in the new release.

Once the entire series is released, where do you think I will be able to find all of the volumes in one place? Amazon? FUNi's site? Wal-mart/Target/Best Buy? Being that I will have the entire series already there will be no rush to get the set. I would actually prefer to have a (cheaper) way to get all of the extras. But if I have to re-buy the series, I will.

Sure. I'll append the first post with a couple links, at least. Makes sense :).

You damn right.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I've been reading around the web looking for other comments about this release and while plenty of people seem really excited for it, I'm seing a lot of confused people.

"Wait. Didn't they just release all of DBZ on DVD?"

"Uhh... okay... What's so special about this set? Why is it more expensive?"

"This isn't going to fit my 16:9 HDTV screen properly therefore it sucks."

"Is it going to be uncut?"

"I'm 12 years old and what is this?"

"Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?"

Does anyone else around here post in other places that have Dragon Box threads? Have you ran into comments like these?

It's all over Youtube in Funi's con video. These are the ignorant fools that this set isn't for. Their opinion is worthless to me.

I don't frequent general anime forums, so I am lucky enough to avoid the annoyance. If I did, no one would ever see me, because I wouldn't be able to over come the urge to write pages upon pages explaining to these people why they are morons and need stop talking about a product that apparently isn't for them.

The comments you're talking about are expected and can most likely just be widely ignored, though it brings up one of my "unknowns" from the most recent update on the home page:
Myself on Daizenshuu EX wrote:While noted during their panel at Otakon that it is for the "hardcore" fans, how or if FUNimation will attempt to market it to their established dub-only fanbase, and/or those that have purchased the previously-released and recently-completed faux-"remastered" season sets
I mean, they have to say SOMETHING. The "marketing" in the promo video played at the con is almost the opposite of what they seem to be saying, since it's Sabat/dubbed-Vegeta talking in internet-speak... clearly not the audience they licensed this for.

Well, would you be more happy if Ryō Horikawa was in the video instead? :P

And just out of curiosity...will you be picking this set up?

What? That doesn't even make sense.

People complained that the Japanese Dragonboxes were in japanese with no English subs, so only those who knew Japanese could understand it. This set is in Japanese (and probably English) with optional English subs. The Japanese don't need Japanese subs to understand the Japanese voice track Toei is worried about them importing for. The content of the Japanese and English boxes will be the same, except the English box will also have some extra stuff for the English-speaking audience the Japanese won't care whether is there or not.

What people in Japan think WILL have bearing, since their local sets have nothing on them that would make them a better choice for them than this.

That last quote from Kendamu almost made me have an aneurism. Why are these people allowed to post on the Internet? Being an educator, that line scares the hell out of me!

Haha... no, no... although it would have been awesome.

While it was great to have a trailer for it and all, they seem to be selling it as a sort of "sophisticated" version of the series, one with properties/aspects that exceed all of their previous stuff. They touted it as important, as special, and enough so to warrant putting it out later in the same year as them finishing up their own "remastered" version.

I, in retrospect, expected a "better" narration. Something more serious. Something with heart. Something triumphant.

This was just "lolz I'm vegeta 9000 omg definitive!" How is that the "hardcore" audience you're selling this to...?

However, you REALLY don't want to hear his Vegeta voice in english.. :x
