Don't worry, it'll be there on the Blu-ray, they just had to cut it for commercial time.

Jason Douglas took a little while to get his Beerus voice back, but it's here, and it's absolutely fantastic. I'd never been too convinced by his performance as 'stern Beerus', but this episode changed that. Wonderful stuff.

Negatives: the filters on the screams are just too much. They're almost laughable in this episode. The Kamehameha sounded ridiculous. That needs to be toned down.
Well i must say, i absolutely loved Goku's kamehameha scream. It reminded me a lot of Vegetto in the Dub powering up to Super Saiyan against Super Buu.

Overall, i thoroughly enjoyed this episode. More so than i expected i would! Beerus' voice was nice and cocky, and Whis' as always too! I liked Goku's overly enthousiastic expressions and voices too! Some things got changed in the Dub, like adding that bit about King Yemma in.. but overall i'm not too bothered by it. It seemed pretty accurate on the grand scale, and i really enjoyed this one!

That's my issue with them. This is a single character with a single voice. I'm fine with some subtle layering and your standard reverb to increase the vastness of the scream, but when it's such overtly layered vocals, it's just distracting and far too much. They're 'trying too hard', for lack of a better term.

Hmm didn't really notice any filter, just sounded a bit deeper, maybe I wasn't paying full attention or the quality I was watching wasn't good.

But anyway Schemmel teased it and him and Douglas were on fire this episode, the end of the fight with the flick flick was what I was anticipating the most and it didn't disappoint.

Forgot how annoying the Pilaf cut aways were but the best of this retelling has begun, (though that whole episode of beam struggling that's upcoming wasn't too great).

So... just caught up on the Funimation dub...
Look I know many are not going to agree with me however Goku is dumbed down in the dub moreso than the Japanese subs.

Watching episode 9, in the scene where Whis explains they don't have enough saiyan Goku has similar, but different implications of the same response.

English Goku: "What? 6? That's one more than we have, right?"
When Vegeta tells Goku he shouldn't have expected much Goku replies " Well math was never really my strong suit"

Japanese Goku " What? 6? We're one short!"
When Vegeta tells Goku he shouldn't have expected much Goku replies "My bad, I thought it would work."

When looking at them out of context of the entire episodes they dialogue difference seems tiny, and it is. Independently it wouldn't be worth a second look.
The issue is the English version seems to imply Goku can barely count to 6 correctly, if he at all. The Japanese version seems to imply Goku just misunderstood what Shenron said along with everyone else.

Like I said, but itself its nothing at all, but in context with the rest of the episodes of Super it seems there is a deliberate effort to paint Goku as a complete idiot. To the point where he has no concept of math or numbers at all...
It's bizarre and can't really be attributed to an offhand statement. I'm sure many won't agree and I'm making no statement of the quality of the Voice acting, merely the translated script where it seems Goku's personality may be even more exaggerated and misunderstand than the Japanese version in my opinion.

So basically the dub made Goku more than an idiot than the original had, how amusing.

Yeah, the dub was feeling fine but it's kinda getting annoying now..
Goku being an idiot all the time is getting old, it's either he is an idiot or he is an even bigger idiot..

I was against your idea before but now this seems to be the case indeed.. the subtle changes add up and it's becoming pretty annoying, more so than the original which I already dislike for this trait

Well luckily for you, it was just a short scene. That was soon over with. But it was indeed a bit over the top, and not what we're used to. Although i personally did enjoy it.

So, how's everyone feeling about Champa & Vados' English voices?
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Pretty good, they're pretty perfect! In all honestly all the U6 voices are, the one I am not 100% sold on is Hit as of yet.

The dub is fine people are just blowing some innocuous lines out of proportion.

Honestly, I'm really hoping Mercer's the voice for Zamasu. He's a great voice actor & I'd wanna hear something similar to Trafalgar Law as Zamasu.

Who else thinks that Gowasu should be voiced by Steve Kramer? (The voice of Third Hokage from Naruto)

I would love this! But Kramer is not Funi, he's mainly appeared in Viz dubs and I think works at Bang Zoom ironically. When it comes to the Funi cast of their current talent pool I could see R Bruce Elliot getting cast as Gowasu, but he does already play Ginyu. Brian Mathis could also work, he plays Monkey D. Garp in One Piece.

About Kramer though, hasn't he played a character in another Dragon Ball dub before or am I remembering wrong?

I would've been very hyped if the AoT wasn't also mentioned along with the rest of the titles which matches with the date of the season premiere. I wonder if it's a typo and they just meant Simulsub instead.

It's got Trunks on there and Sabat and Sean have been talking about the Black arc a lot lately....

Isn't AoT coming in April though? Also Simulcast is used not Simulsub so hard to say if it's a typo but probably is.

Simulcast is what I meant thanks for the correction english is not my first language. As for the AoT I don't know if it's possible for the big series such as that to be simuldubbed the same day the simulcast comes out though we can only hope.
