Especially since a year (more, I think) ago, the Ultimate Uncut Editions were also advertised as "The way it was meant to be seen." FUNimation sure likes that phraseTsukento wrote:So let's see. They first tell us "You think you know GT? YOU DON'T KNOW GT!" and now they tell us this is Dragon Ball Z the way it was meant to be seen.
Boy, FUNimation sure is insulting the intelligence of Dragon Ball fans. o_O

Well, to their credit, the Ultimate Uncuts were the way it was meant to be seen.MajinVejitaXV wrote:Especially since a year (more, I think) ago, the Ultimate Uncut Editions were also advertised as "The way it was meant to be seen." The new sets are "a more cinematic viewing experience."

Yeah, point being they advertised both as "the way it was meant to be seen."The Lecherous Muten Roshi wrote:Well, to their credit, the Ultimate Uncuts were the way it was meant to be seen.

I guess I should be glad they didn't use random katakana this time to appear "hardcore" >_>;;

Also, as much as the orange packaging hurts the eyes, it's much better than the red/black combo they used for the first seven Ultimate Uncut DVDs.MajinVejitaXV wrote:I guess I should be glad they didn't use random katakana this time to appear "hardcore" >_>;;

Oh, I'm talking solely about the advertising. When FUNimation advertised the UUE's, they posted an online commercial which had random katakana. I wish it was still up, but I can't find it on YouTube.MagicBox wrote:Also, as much as the orange packaging hurts the eyes, it's much better than the red/black combo they used for the first seven Ultimate Uncut DVDs.
Here's the archived news post about it, look at the 20th, and here's the post where we made fun of it.

Random katakana:

And the actual video.
I hope FUNimation doesn't have it removed like my other video.

First you're praising and defending season 1 like no tommorow, regardless of what facts are thrown at you, now you're suddenly "only buying seasons 1-3" and finding reasons to throw a minor bashing. Interesting lightswitch. Well, it's your opinions. >>JAPPO wrote:I liked the Ultimate Uncut advertisements and the packaging. A lot better than Season One's.
About that Katakana, looks basically like FUNi just typed the words out in English in a WS-Japanese font that any common computer has available.

You must have read wrong. Or, you don't care enough to support your claims.Conan the SSJ wrote:First you're praising and defending season 1 like no tommorow, regardless of what facts are thrown at you, now you're suddenly "only buying seasons 1-3" and finding reasons to throw a minor bashing. I said I WILL buy up until AT LEAST season 3. I've said this before today as well.
I've never said I didn't like the Ultimate Uncut Packaging and advertisements. Do I like the actual thing? Not as much as Season One.
I said I liked the "Ultimate Uncut" Packaging MORE than season one's. I DIDN'T say I liked the PRODUCT more.
Please stop harassing me.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Oh wow, Funimation, you surprise me by the minute. I was tricked by you again! I didn't know that was gibberish until now. I have lost a lot of respect for them these past months. Can't they get anything right with Dragonball Z?Taku128 wrote:"yanena rachiru noya rachimo henachihoya yama tsuna monanaho" Straight form the link MajinVejitaXV posted.dragondyle wrote:Can that random katakana be translated or is it way too random to make since?SatoSky wrote:Random katakana:

I actually thought those trailers were pretty cool, I had no idea that the Japanese was gibberish (Until a year or so later where I discovered Goku's name has only three characters. Three)MajinVejitaXV wrote:Oh, I'm talking solely about the advertising. When FUNimation advertised the UUE's, they posted an online commercial which had random katakana. Where the hell do you get me harassing you from? I simply assumed you'd changed your mind about the season sets with your desire to only go as far as seasons 1-3, and your preference in packaging gave me the feeling (apparently misinterpreted) that you suddenly light-switched in feelings about the season sets. I called you up on that and while I would've preferred a mature reply, you give me an explanation combined with some unneeded smart-ass BS trying to make me out to be the bad guy. I hope you had fun. >_>JAPPO wrote:Please stop harassing me.

Here's a funny dbz web related story I just remembered..Conan the SSJ wrote:About that Katakana, looks basically like FUNi just typed the words out in English in a WS-Japanese font that any common computer has available.JAPPO wrote:I liked the Ultimate Uncut advertisements and the packaging. One time this person submitted his site to be added to my links page and the logo had that "english with an MS word japanese font" on it. I told the person that the japanese was wrong and even gave him a proper katakana chart to correct him. He went all apeshit telling me it was wrong and I should get a new japanese dictionary and that he was right because MS word said so.

I never heard from the kid again.
