Goku has done nothing in this arc aside from (and that's assuming he did it in the recent chapter) attempting to seal Future Zamasu. I also hated the way he was taken out in their first trip by Future Zamasu.OLKv3 wrote:Evil Goku never fights Good Goku? Come on..

Vegeta had a bigger connection with Freeza than those 2 but I don't see many people complaining about them beating/killing him in the original while Vegeta couldn't even touch him.Doctor. wrote:Trunks and Goku both have a bigger connection to Black than Vegeta does.

Yeah it was...weird to say the least. He's just suddenly back in normal SSJ and getting frozen. Also don't like how he's taking orders from Vegeta. If the manga is closer to the barebones script they get, then Toei definitely did Goku favors making him more prominent in the arcmfwlegend3 wrote:Goku has done nothing in this arc aside from (and that's assuming he did it in the recent chapter) attempting to seal Future Zamasu. Different case as Vegeta was still an evil guy at that point in the story. Goku was the hero, so of course he'd get the fight. Vegeta being the one to kill Freeza wouldn't be satisfying to anyone after all the scummy shit he did throughout the arc.sintzu wrote:Vegeta had a bigger connection with Freeza than those 2 but I don't see many people complaining about them beating/killing him in the original while Vegeta couldn't even touch him.Doctor. wrote:Trunks and Goku both have a bigger connection to Black than Vegeta does.
And I'm pretty sure Trunks killing Freeza has been criticized to death by now for coming out of nowhere and ruining Freeza, so I don't see your point. Plus, Freeza wasn't even a main villain at that point, so it's not like it matters.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
A Vegeta arc has been waaaaaaaaay overdue so at least someone is doing it. What I'd like to know is who's making the changes ? Did Toei add the things that aren't in the manga like the Goku and Trunks fights or did Toyotaru cut those out of his version ?OLKv3 wrote:Honestly, in this arc, Goku feels like a support character for once. I guess this lines up with Toriyama's wish to have a story where Vegeta takes the lead.
If I had to bet on it I'd say Toei added those cause if they were Toriyama's plot points then surely they would've made it in the manga at some point plus Toyotaru said he followed Toriyama's outline pretty close so I can't see him changing things that much.
The reason I think Toei added those is : 1- Toriyama's outline wasn't long enough for 21 episodes and 2- they didn't think a Vegeta led arc would be successful.

I'd say Toei added the missing trip and expanded on how Zamasu killed Goku's family and stole his body, while Toyo obviously added SSG Vegeta and whatever else they add.sintzu wrote:A Vegeta arc has been waaaaaaaaay overdue so at least someone is doing it. Oh and that stupid Scythe that Black had, definitely a Toei addition

It worked out fine in the end cause it gave his rematch in RF more weight to it.Doctor. wrote:Different case as Vegeta was still an evil guy at that point in the story. Yeah that was strange that Goku power down to ssj1 outta nowhere, maybe toyble is doing this intentionally because he saw goku have a major role in the upcoming Saga,so now he is just throwing a hat to the Vegeta fans because Vegeta is going to have a supporting character role in the tournament of power, this is just a theoryOLKv3 wrote:Yeah it was...weird to say the least. Merged Zamasu's introduction in the anime was infinitely better than the manga's version. His entrance in the manga looks incredibly dull. He could have at least been hovering in the skies or something.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I think it has more to do with the script he got from Toriyama. In terms of the tournament, if this arc is anything to go by then it'll be very different then what we're seeing in the anime. The gr wrote:Maybe toyble is doing this intentionally because he saw goku have a major role in the upcoming Saga so now he is just throwing a hat to the Vegeta fans because Vegeta is going to have a supporting character role in the tournament of power, this is just a theory.

Not too surprising. Transformation scenes and character entrances have a history of being better in the anime than in the manga when it comes to Dragon Ball.mfwlegend3 wrote:Merged Zamasu's introduction in the anime was infinitely better than the manga's version. ... Or Goku beating Freeza instead of Vegeta. I don't see the problem with Vegeta not having the biggest connection. His connection is strong enough for him to care and he's capable of doing it too.Doctor. wrote:It's not about manga vs anime. Both mediums had the "Vegeta beats Rosé Black after training" plot point (in the manga's case, presumably, but it's a fair assumption). It's Toriyama's writing that I'm criticizing. The point is that Trunks and Goku both have a bigger connection to Black than Vegeta does. This would be the same as having Tenshinhan beat Piccolo Daimao.Noah wrote:You can't compare Cell arc Vegeta to current Vegeta, but the manga is vague about his motivations and he willing saying that he would like to take Black just because he looks like Goku seems dumb to me, not having Goku fighting with his "evil clone" not even once is a loss as they had chemistry interacting in the anime.Doctor. wrote: Then Trunks himself should get the spotlight. Vegeta had a minimal role in the Cell arc.
Disclaimer: I might get into a disagreement with you. Sometimes I might even get feisty about it. I'll never harbor negative feelings because of it though. I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

That is a good point,so maybe toriyama wanted the prince to be the main charactesintzu wrote:I think it has more to do with the script he got from Toriyama. agreed, the manga tend have a dull transformation or entrance, like look at gohan transforming ssj2 in the cell games and world tournament in the manga and look on how it pales comparison to the animeDoctor. wrote:Not too surprising. I just like having two versions. There's parts of the anime version I like better and parts of the manga version I like better.
I'm hoping the manga ending is more satisfying though.

Again, Vegeta was a villain at that point in the story. He did a lot of scummy, evil shit throughout the arc and Toriyama is quick to remind you. It'd be satisfying to nobody if Vegeta got the kill.kinisking wrote:... Or Goku beating Freeza instead of Vegeta. I don't see the problem with Vegeta not having the biggest connection. This is a completely different situation. The three characters are heroes and are on equal footing. They aren't being limited by their role in the story. The logical thing to do would be to put Black as the opponent of the characters who have the biggest connection to him. Gohan also has a reason to care. Present Trunks has a reason to care. Yet those characters aren't defeating Black, and for good reason. It's not cathartic in the slightest to have Vegeta defeat Black, it's just poor.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
He said he wanted to after the BOG movie was released so I'm not surprised to see this. He also let Gohan and Trunks be the main characters of the Cell arc so it's not the 1st time he's replaced Goku. It goes to show how he thinks outside of the box and how strong his characters are to be able to replace the main one like that. The gr wrote:That is a good point,so maybe toriyama wanted the prince to be the main characte.

seen something earlier about ssj red vegeta. i think it's fake i seen the panel and he didn't have those ssj god sparkles around his body like goku does. I wait until herms confirms. Also i want to see gogita in this, that has to be the major change.

I bet if it were these days it would be more or less like this:Doctor. wrote: I'm pretty sure Trunks killing Freeza has been criticized to death by now for coming out of nowhere and ruining Freeza, so I don't see your point.
"What the f***? Has Toriyama gone mad?"
"Another Super Saiyan out of nowhere?"
"Not even Goku in this form had killed Freeza so easily"
When 20 years ago everyone was like:
"Wow! That's awesome!"
"He fights with a sword, so cool!"
"This guy is so cool"
