I'm not surprised. It's probably incredibly hard to keep up such a pace, especially when your livelihood DOESN'T depend on it.

That said, I really do hope they find someone who can keep a similar quality in the art.

I imagined something like this happening, but I didn't want to say anything about it.

I hope the new artist is just as good as Gogeta Jr. He was a great artist, and is going to be hard to beat. Maybe the guy who did this last special?

I guess I saw this coming. Like I said not long ago, If I were him I'd abandon the project. Salagir's treatment of the whole thing has become way too amateurish with all the incredibly bad artworks from the specials being mixed in with the manga, and even the poor English translations. His lack of professionalism and overall input isn't worth Gogeta Jr's effort and time.

I hope his skills get to be part of something better in the future like they deserve.

The Universe 13 guy? With the awkward proportions and with a level of panel orientation that he needed to included arrows to point out with panel was next?

Maybe if the only other choice was the "mediocre at best" art from the Bardock special, with female Sasuke as Goku's mom.

I thought the art for U13 was a lot better than the art for U3.

I dunno, the awkward proportions got better as he went along I felt, and hopefully he could learn better panel control as it went along, so he could stop the arrow thing. Just going by art alone, he was probably the best of the special artists.

Yes, U13 guy was the best out of the specials....but because each and every special before it was crap. Although, the Bardock story was alright...the art wasn't.

Being the best out of the "specials" doesn't earn him the place. Remember who's being replaced. Not someone who got better as he went on, but someone who was good from the beginning.

Gogeta Jr posted in the french explaining his reasons behind abbandoning DBM - basicaly there are 2 of them:
1. He didn't find any pleasure in drawing DBM any more.
2. He's unemployed so he's got to find a job. This means abbandoning not only DBM but Amilova (and Hemispheres) as well.

And what about albertocubatas? I think that his second chapter was really something in terms of art (I know, everybody wants to forget it 'cause it was about Brolly). And inbetween he must have progressed.

Also about the artists: the U3 one - Stef84 - actually served as assistant to Gogeta Jr during many pages (several hundred if I'm not mistaken) so she's pretty experienced by now :)

Yeah, he beats the U13 artist IMO.

I went back to see his, and the art seemed okay, actually. If it ends up being someone from the specials, should be him. (even if it isn't as consistent as we could hope, his second chapter seemed a little more off at times than the first)
Tzigi wrote:the U3 one - Stef84
Which chapter was that?
EDIT: Nevermind, that the Bardock special (featuring Sasuke, the mother of Goku), isn't it? The art was worse than those, in my opinion...

Yeah, I'm not saying I want it to be the U13 special artist, but just that out of the special artists if it's one of them, that's probably the best option from what we've seen of their work.

Hmm...looking back, his art is REALLY good too. I think that was so early in that most were content to take out Broly hate on the special rather than observing the art itself (myself included, and I don't even hate Broly), but looking back at those pages now compared to some of the other artists...I could deal with albertocubatas taking over.

Unfortunately no matter who replaces Gogeta Jr. this is going to feel like a knockoff. Like a fan manga of a fan manga. Or when your favorite cartoon loses most of its budget and voice actors and has to switch to a new style.

Oh, god...

...DBM is now 'Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters'.

Gogeta Jr has been doing this comic every week since 2008. I can see why he would want to quite and want to move on. When you have been doing this every week since 2008 then you would get tired of it. For example, Doug Walker ended the Nostalgia Critic since he feel like he was done with the show after doing it since 2007 or 2008.

Somehow I kinda knew this would happen.. He has my respect though. I wonder if the new artist will be the one who illustrated the "Be Patient" image. I don't think Gogeta Jr. or Salagir drew it.

I do wish that he stayed until the end of this chapter so the switch between art styles won't feel so .. uh... "random" I guess.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Kinda weird how those were so close to each other. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if DBZA or the AVGN ended abruptly. I've gotten so used to them being around that it would feel odd if they went away.

Read it again. Salagir said Gogeta Jr. already drew the entrie chapter.

Is this referring to me? I know the chapters already complete. If DBM were to somehow end after that chapter, it would still be abrupt.

Just heard the news, man this really blows. Gogeta Jr. did a fantastic job with DBM and I hope Salagir takes his time finding a good replacement. I hope he doesn't feel rushed to find someone soon.

Props to Gogeta jr. He managed to unite the dragonball fandom to the point where people would almost consider DBM canon. At least the vast amount of criticism and expectations would suggest so.

I would nominate Shenronmeteor (U13 guy) to take on the torch. His faces and poses are brilliant. Just needs to draw those bodies a little bigger.

Insertclevername: AVGN is kinda dead already, especially since his friend, Mike Matei, is in charge of their side, and start block comments :( I hope Salagir will find someone as good, as Gogeta Jr. his drawings were almost like Toriyama (Through, his Freeza always looked off)
