Since Kenji also did this, I can only expect good things.

Yes, the upbeat songs in those games were always good... never cared for the guitar-heavy battle music though.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I really think that the music used in the commercial is an instrumental remix of the new opening theme we're going to get. One of the reasons I say that is because it's structured like an opening song, only quicker and brisker. It'll probably be used for Next Episode previews and what-not.

I can't wait to see it, honestly. New music by Kenji Yamamoto sounds like it could really make for a brand new experience with the show... and I'm pretty down with that!

I thought this too. Like how a version of Head-Chala was used for the previews and recaps.

Yeah, it isn't uncommon for a Dragon Ball advertisement to use an instrumental of the opening for whatever the ad is for, whether it be the TV shows or even the games.

This question just occurred to me:

What about censorship? Will we get the full scratches/bloodied/uncut version, or the toned-down TV version censorship where people who get hit in the face 30 times still don't bleed a drop?

You won't be seeing baby Goku's penis anytime soon, but all the blood and such from the original Japanese version should still be there in the new Japanese version. At least, that's what I'd expect.

Let's say this get picks up by FUNimation... do you think that maybe CN would want dibs? Or are they done with anything that's not Naruto?

I hope they don't want dibs. I'd rather see it on Hulu.

Cartoon Network isn't going to want to it. It's obvious they're moving away from anime. I'd laugh if 4kids aired it.

We might get it on the Funimation channel. Preferably the internet version.

Well, if CN still has the rights to Z, then they might push for Kai too. Then again, they don't have the rights for the original dragonball, so I don't know how it works.

anyway, who wants to watch stuff on their computer? Whenever I do, it lags like hell... I just can't sit at the computer and watch stuff. Maybe that's just me?

Hulu doesn't lag.

And no way in fucking HFI L will FUNimation put episodes of Dragon Ball online. That's the one thing I hate about their new video section; I know the Dragon Ball/Z/GT sections are just housings for trailers.

It's because their contracts for DB and DBZ were created at a time where the interwebz was the home of nobody, and the time of 56K connections.

By the time GT was licensed Japan, and the US probably thought they could still wrestle around the online market since it was still non-existant.

Now though, Toei would probably want an Arm and a Leg for DB/Z/GT's online rights. Probably same goes for One Piece.

Also a friend keeps on telling me Kai will air on TV Tokyo, is this true? I thought it was solely to be on Fuji TV. Will it air on both?
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Dragon Ball episodes HAVE been online from Toonami's online viewing service. Jetstream was it called? I don't remember. I believe they were the censored episodes, but they were there nevertheless.

Oh, I'm the same way too, I don't prefer watching videos on my pc, but I wouldn't want DBKAI on Funimation's cable channel because no one has it. This could all be fixed if Funimation would push their cable channel into mainstream, but that won't happen.

To be honest, I don't see DBKAI airing on television in America. No one would want it, and I doubt there would be enough outcry to make anyone take it. Sure guys like us might/would push for it, but the casual fans won't.

So yeah, I'd expect a straight to DVD release here in America.

Can anyone tell me if this is about Dragonball Kai? I think it is; it's either that or about the new Kai DS game:

Yeah, it probably is, seeing that it's along with One Piece. All they posted on this blog regarding Dragonball recently has either been Kai or Evolution news... so I sort of jumped the gun. Thanks!

I'm actually thinking it might be the recap music.
