Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

Hiya folks, GTx10 here! I'm glad to be apart of the forum and flex my DB muscles!
Ill be honest, I'm loving SSG Son Goku but I'm not entirely happy with the movie. The nit picky fan in me has questions like:

Is SSG form stronger than SS4 form?

How does SS4 Gogeta compare to SSG Goku?

How to the Legends of the SSG and LSS mingle alongside each other?

Why did anyone doubt Goku's purity of heart? He can ride the Nimbus. (Doesn't the redrawn DBZ Manga ending show the Nimbus? Wait Uub was riding it right?) (Son rode the Nimbus in GT's ending)

I understand GT plays no role in this movie but I'm one of the few fans you likes GT so nitpicky I shall be!

This a thread for talking about the movie, yes, but strength comparisons and similar are usually discussed in the In-Universe forum. The film and GT also have no bearing on each other, so most people in this thread are less concerned with such things in general than they might be.

I suppose even that connotes purity. Innocence tends to be rather incompatible with wisdom.

Does anybody know what the chances are of this movie being released in Japan with subtitles? Because of course I'd import this, and I'm pretty sure many out there would.

So I gotta ask, for anyone who has seen the movie: there appears to be a moment when Bulma and Vegeta are arguing about something, I think it's right before Beers and Whis show up. Is this the moment where Vegeta says that all her parties are the same every year?

My guess for why it's called into question is because he was spying on Vegeta and Beerus earlier instead of running out to help Vegeta keep Beerus from getting upset. (Even though Goku explains his spying was done in the name of creating a strategy, Piccolo may not have believed that.)

I wouldn't have liked it that much. It would've really cheapened it all, like what they did with Bardock.

So... does the background of Super Saiyan God, the whole Good and Evil Saiyans thing, does that tie into the Daizenshuu Timeline which says there was a period of strife and unrest among the Saiyan people?
Or is that referring to something else, or is it unknown?

I guess it would explain evil Saiyan babies. But I would take the Z filler's explanation over evil lizard. The original script sounded interesting when all we knew about it was that it had the theme of what it means to be a hero but the muscular Super Saiyan God with a cape, Birus being the root of evil, and Birus going Baby on the gang sounds pretty bad. I still want to hear more about it though...and see the original designs for Beerus and Godku.

It's simply unexplained, at the very least. Though if folks like Kami are capable of restoring things like the moon, then it'd probably be easy enough for Kaioshin to restore Kaio's planet for him. Perhaps it was sometime in the couple of years before the movie, in thanks for Kaio's help with Majin Boo?

Heck, maybe it actually happened before Majin Buu, and we just never see anybody go there for whatever reason. I just wish there was...SOMETHING acknowledging this.

I do want to know more about it, but yeah I'm ultimately glad they didn't go with that. It reminds me too much of some of the arcs from Sailor Moon; what with an evil entity that corrupts hearts, and the hand-holding circle gathering power and sending that collected power somewhere. I do really like Sailor Moon, but I'm not sure if I want to see the other characters, possessed-by-evil, emotionally beating down Goku. It'd be like one of those things you can't look away from, but feel simultaneously awful about witnessing.

Also, bulked-up cloak-wearing Goku would not have been nearly as absurdly-fun for me to draw as the cute, svelte, pink-haired/large-red-irised version of ssjg that was ultimately decided upon. (I'm still kind of in awe that a form like this was used.)

Somewhat unrelated, but I also learned today that Ryo Horikawa sang the Lupin the 3rd Theme song along with a Saint Seiya opening (the Fist of the North Star one I knew about).

Does anyone else think that, originally, the whole "Creation & Destruction" thing was going to be an actual theme of the film, rather than just a method for introducing the villain? In earlier promotional material it seemed like they were putting a lot of emphasis on it.

Another minor thing that I'm a little disappointed with in relation to the film is restricting the fighting to taking place on Earth. Yeah, I know they fight in space but I was hoping Birus's temple/castle thing had more of a role in the film and should've been used for the climax of the film.

It seems like the poster placed a lot of importance on things that didn't actually turn out to be much, such as Uis and the tree, which really disappoints me.
