Both Road to Ninja and Film Z made half of their total gross by it's second weekend so if BoG did the same as that it'd make around 3.7 billion Yen.

However if BoG is infact holding out better, then it could do even more than that, it could make 4 billion Yen or more. If it followed Detective Conan's pace which had a similar opening ($7.6 mil) and a similar second weekend drop (35.7%) then it would make as much as 4.7 billion. Though that would be hoping for too much i think.

On the otherhand it could all go downhill quickly.

Man, they sure do love reusing that shot of Goku and Birusu over and over and over and over....

If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? So it looks like Battle of Gods is set to surpass that goal of 3 billion yen. I wonder if a hypothetical sequel would do just as well or if the hype/novelty will wear off some.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

I think a lot of people will be curious on the reveal that there are multiple universes and 11 other Gods. Depending on how they approach it I'm sure it'd certainly generate enough interest. One Piece Strong World made $50 millionish while Film made $72 million afterall.

Speak for your own, not for the whole fandom. While the majority of the fan-base hates GT, there are still people who like it.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Only Bills and Beers are valid. Birus was never officially used in any release.

I think that the majority of the fan-base doesn't hate GT, and most of them don't even know who Akira Toriyama is (unfortunaltelly). The majority of the DB fans watches the show on TV, buys DVDs and video games, but doesn't care about the production details. I'm sure you've watched TMNT, bought some video games or comics, but can you tell me who the original authors are and what's canon or not in this franchise?!

Being used in a Japanese release doesn't make it any more valid than other options when there's no western versions by the people in charge of the western translation.
Stuff like "Son Gokou", "Son Gokuh", "Kulilin", "Krylin", "Piccoro" are used in releases, and they're not the official western versions chosen later by any country, proving that the Japan staff(s) opinions on what they should be written like in western characters is off and irrelevant to what "should be or should not be".

So Bills and Beers are not any more valid than Birus, Birusu and other variations people may come up with. They're all valid as long as they are a logically possible western version.

If anything, I'd say "Bills" is the least legitimate since it doesn't fulfill either of the name puns.

Just because some people like GT that does not mean it's not view as one of the most disliked show in the series. I see people who liked Die Another Day, Final Wars, Alien 3, Star Trek Nemesis, Kamen Rider: Decade, Superman Returns, Terminator: Salvation and The Star War prequels but they are still dislike by most fans.

I'm curious as to what the official name will be...I doubt they'll go the Beers route.

Apparently, "Beers" is the official name since it appeared in the movie's pamphlet and Shueisha endorses it.

Beers and Whis have been used in the theatrical program. It follows Toriyama' s ideas; isn't that what Shueisha is going with?
An interviewer asks, "The soundtrack in Sonic 3 has become legendary. Is it true that you worked with Michael Jackson on it?" Takashi Iizuka kills all of our hopes and dreams by replying, "You know, those are just rumors, and SEGA does not want to say anything about them. So they will forever be just rumors..." WHY!?

I know, but given Dragon Ball's track record I think it may be censored. I mean, I know now anime/manga has made strides with practically no censorship in either now, but I still wonder what it's going to end up being here.

Oh, you're talking about the official name in your country. Yeah, it might or might not follow the Japanese name.

Dude, you really need to let it go yourself.

I've noticed everytime somebody brings up GT, whether bad or good, you always have to bring up how either-

A. How much you don't like it
B. How the majority of the fans hate it
C. How the merchandise for GT didn't sell well.
D. How the ratings didn't do well
E. How much you were let down by it

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Why do people on this forum keep bringing GT back to this certain thread?
Isn't it obvious GT is being totally ignored with the movie and 'main timeline'? What's the point in even mentioning GT?
GT won't happen in the 'main timeline'.
