Re: Beers
I can still see him being called Beers in a possible Funi dub. A FOX dub not so much, but Funi I think would be cool with the alcohol puns. (Or maybe I'm just that de-sensititized at this point). At worst for Funi I can see them going with the Virus one instead.

The film doens't ignore GT, it happens before GT.elyas11 wrote:Why do people on this forum keep bringing GT back to this certain thread?
Isn't it obvious GT is being totally ignored with the movie and 'main timeline'? What's the point in even mentioning GT?
GT won't happen in the 'main timeline'.

The film apparently does ignore GT, though. The whole Pilaf thing can't really fit at all with GT. That being said, I'm also a bit baffled as to why GT keeps coming up lately.JeffJarrett wrote:The film doens't ignore GT, it happens before GT.elyas11 wrote:Why do people on this forum keep bringing GT back to this certain thread?

Seeing how it happens before said series, the film doesn't ignore GT. If anything though, it actually makes a decent set up for it.Eddie wrote:The film apparently does ignore GT, though. But anyway, as for the whole Pilaf thing. If this film is supposed to take place when Pan is supposed to be conceived (despite the errors), then there is still a 10 year time period for them to have the wish reversed in some manner or another.

Beers and Birus make a hell of a lot more sense than Bills, Bills bothers me as a name adaptation. It ignores the possible pun sources and if you wanna get technical Bils is more correct than Bills if you go back to ビルス. Bills would be ビッルス. But, then that makes Beers confusing. Beers only works phonetically and based on what Toriyama thought his name came from, haha. Now I'm torn on Birus and Beers. But, I'll probably call him Birus since Yusuke Watanabe was responsible for him and Whis for Uisu since Toriyama seems to be behind him. Encorporating both possible pun sources. Toriyama's forgetfulness of course makes the romanizations a bit tough, haha.

I could see FUNi going with Beers for the DVD/Blu-ray but calling him Bils for the inevitable Nicktoons screening.Chuquita wrote:Re: Beers

I never watched much of Funi's Kai dub; did they do something similar with Mr. Satan? Like, did they call him the H word in the Nicktoons broadcast and call him Mr. Satan on the dvd's?

That's exactly what they did.Chuquita wrote:did they do something similar with Mr. Satan? Like, did they call him the H word in the Nicktoons broadcast and call him Mr. Satan on the dvd's?
They've also made some silly changes, such as "Over 8,000" on DVD but crazy "Over 9,000" on TV, along with general violence and language-related censorings.

Tite Kubo just said on Twitter that he wants to see the Dragon Ball movie ("ドラゴンボールの映画観たいなぁ。")! I'm happy for it

Neat! I always liked that he is a fan as well and his work for the DB anniversary is my favorite (it looks a little like the 11th division cosplaying as DB charactersTite Kubo just said on Twitter that he wants to see the Dragon Ball movie ("ドラゴンボールの映画観たいなぁ。")! I'm happy for it
Hope he mentions something about what he thought about it too.

Interesting review.
I kinda feel like it's time that Dragon Ball tried something new story-wise. For character interaction and nostalgia we have the Jump Special- I don't think it would've hurt if the movie strayed from this and did its own thing (although Watanabe's original vision doesn't sound like something I'd be too keen on).

Has there been more info about the original story aside from the "what makes a hero" idea, Beers initial design and power and Krillin and 18's wedding?(although Watanabe's original vision doesn't sound like something I'd be too keen on).

Your link doesn't work, DragonBoxZTheMovies.
I knew Kubo drew that awesome looking anniversary artwork, but I didn't know he was a Dragon Ball fan. That's nice to hear.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Fixed. Sorry, the additional "p" wasn't a typo after all.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
After reading the review, I'm disappointed to hear that the animation is apparently underwhelming. I know earlier previews were criticised, but I thought it was said that the final product was of much better quality?

Sounds like the reviewer would've been happier with the earlier draft. Such is life. It was interesting to read, but I can't say I fully agree with it (my thoughts on the film are higher than that guy's).

As Chuquita said, the reviewer probably would have liked the earlier draft much more, where as I like the film we have now a lot, going from the what I've read that is. Anyway the review was a good read, and it seems like Vegeta is the shining light for people who aren't much for this film, cool!
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Well, I think the original draft (what we know of it) sounds better in some aspects, but the final product is definitely more fitting with Dragon Ball.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I can't really take this review seriously. I get that people have their own opinions and that's fine, but he completely missed the point of Beers' character and thinks that he is a rabbit, even though it's pretty obvious he looks like an Egyptian deity/sphinx cat.
Good to know Vegeta is one of the better parts of the movie.
