Me too, but remember we had that in the last two movies (SSJ God and Blue)

Yes and if the villain is a Saiyan who came out of nowhere and is way stronger than Jiren, this will be way more BS than Freeza power jump on RoF.
Agreed, and not every villain is stronger than the last (Freeza in ROF was weaker than Beerus).

We can't make assumptions that it will happen until it does. Then I will be able to criticize it.

Thank you for understanding my side of the agruement. I don't like to jump on and rant just because some spoilers said something. I don't judge until I see. When people told me that the Last Jedi sucked, I waited and watched it. I found myself not hating it but it did not become my favorite Star Wars movie.

Believe it or not, the exact same thing happened to me. I heard a LOT of bad things before in watched the Last Jedi, but was entertained the entire time I watched it.

I've also seen a lot of times when people would say that they would quit watching Super because of the spoilers for a new episode, and the spoilers would turn out to be false.

I think that Toei puts fake spoilers just to mess with the fans.

I think the same thing. You also can't judge an episode by its spoilers. For example, when Super Saiyan Rose was revealed just before the episode, I was mad because I thought it looked horrible. However, after watching the Future Trunks Arc, Super Saiyan Rose became my favorite SS form.

It shouldn't be that simple. Z never did that. Though I'm someone that actually misses training for new forms and dislike the "forms on demand" that Super does.
Goku, Trunks and Goten didn't train for SSJ1, Gohan didn't train for SSJ2 and Gotenks didn't train for SSJ3. How was Z any different?
Uragh. I'm tired of the perpetual "Goten & Kid Trunks" claim. It was never established they did it with blind ease, the surprise was that they could do so that young. Any headcanon could make up some scenario to say they didn't. Also, yes Gohan did train for SS2. He trained with Goku to bring out his potential, and first had to force himself to control SS1, then they fought more and he shown signs of SS2 in there but didn't bring it. No different from Future Trunks with Future Gohan.

Gotenks was an asspull. A joke most likely intentional, however they still had to train as Gotenks before fighting Super Buu. They didn't instantly master fusion or understood their ki/stamina timer in the form. Nothing with Gotenks was instant on screen. It was also implied that he already went that far prior when he said he was "saving" it for whatever he was planning.

Point being, yes they all trained somewhere down the line for it.

But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Present Trunks and Goten showed no strain nor effort in turning SSJ, to argue otherwise is self-delusion. Goten just randomly did it while sparring with ChiChi of all people, and Trunks just did it with no explanation. We saw with our own eyes the kids transforming with ease. And it was outright stated that there was no major battles or conflicts in the 7 year after the Cell games. Gohan himself stopped training after he beat Cell (which was why he was weaker than his younger self), so don't try and argue that Goten got any serious training for SSJ.

SSJ2 had no foreshadowing of any kind, it just came out of nowhere. Mastered SSJ was the hyped form that they trained for in the Cell arc.

"Gotenks is a joke" is a bad excuse for an asspull. Gotenks is not a gag character, he doesn't have any toon-force whatsoever. It took Goku 7 years to get SSJ3 and he never mastered it, while Gotenks gets SSJ3 just by thinking about it with no build-up or foreshadowing of any kind. People where calling Goten, Trunks and Gotenks asspullers back in the 90s and 2000s, its funny how everyone wants to defend them now since the U6 saiyans came around.

So there was supposed to be a "something special" at the end of Super, right? Anybody know what that was referring to? Were they talking about the teaser we got for the movie a few days ago?

So, with the wish from the SUPER DRAGON BALLS on ep 131, does that technically mean the universes that Zeno destroyed all those years ago as well?

That would open up A LOT of future stuff for Dragon ball to explore.

And I'm not sure if anything concrete has been mentioned of the villain in the movie coming up( origins or stuff like that), but if there hasn't then, I think they could explore a villain from one of those universes.

Thoughts?

Goten was the only time where making SS look easy was intentional. Hence the Bargain sale line. It only spun off into a lazy trait. I also never said they strained for it specifically unless you're trying to put words in my argument now. I said Gohan & Gotenks did; hence both their uses of the ROST. Its common knowledge that Goten & Kid Trunks got it easily. That was the overt response in-universe. It doesn't justify this being carried over if fans don't want it to be universal.

Who's defending them? Did I not acknowledge that SS3 Gotenks was entirely an asspull? It being one in-universe makes it intentional enough to not be logical to complain about. Them learning Fusion was not for them. Also, Joke character =/= gag character. Gotenks is a joke character. Every aspect of him was a self-parody intended. It happening once In-universe doesn't equate the writers doing it because they don't know how to develop other characters.

Ok call me crazy but unless it's a plot hole, 17 just brought back Universes 13 to 18 with his wish. I think the movie will follow up on this...
I called it that Gogeta, Bardock, and something Broly related would be in the movie before it was even announced that it was a Broly movie. 8)

But the training was still there throughout super (unless you’re referring to onscreen training)

SSJ Blue was attained through training
Golden Freeza was attained through training
SSJ for Caulifla was practically attained through a training session with cabba, and goku taught her how to actually use SSJ2.
Toppo’s transformation was attained because of his training as a god candidate.

That’s all I can remember so far (as I’m rewatching SM:Homecoming) so there might be some more I’ve left off.

I can only assume that Freeza will in someway factor into the plot for this movie. I kind of would’ve preferred that he stay dead but I guess they just can’t let go of their most iconic villain.

It’ll also be interesting to see if UI returns, or if that was a one-time thing.

Looks like the version up on CrunchyRoll and elsewhere doesn't include the movie teaser footage that was part of the end credits for the live broadcast. It's just the same "Goku bouncing" clip we've all seen elsewhere already, but it was still neat to have it there.

You're right, it being stated slipped my mind which is what statements of things will do. Its probably because Toriyama just leaves these statements in his scripts and thus they are given to us as is. There is no story in it, which is the biggest element of DB. The stories within the training or path to new power. Maybe most of this all being off screen is the problem or not used as plot-points themselves is the issue. People want to see the process, not skip over it just for the new feat. That could solve everything with more showing and less telling.

The characters don't need to train for the movie though, as they never have time for that. I just hope they overall show us more of the information they give and not just make statements then fight. That was the biggest thing that I think held ROF back. Its why I fondly still enjoy the first Broly movie, because it set up a lot around the significance of the tension toward the fight, through Paragus. We need this.
