I think I've posted this before...(haha)...

But I'm kinda sick of the canon arguments. Especially reading some Youtube comments.. 'We want GT characters for Battle of Z', 'No, we don't need them because they're not canon'. Especially with dub fans or younger fans who have no clue a lot of the moments they probably like or the movies are technically not canon. But I say who cares as long as you're enjoying something. However if it's some key fact sure then we need the manga for example to clarify it.

I don't think hat's unpopular. I'll take 500 million youtube Dbz debates over Yotube Dbz fanbase claiming Akira stated this and that in interviews. When most of them are english fans which IMO are the most ignorant when on Youtube. I'll go out on a limb and say about 90% of them only saw the english dub.

I really hate how much 'fanon' has been integrated into the dub fanbase- the stuff like 'Toriyama wanted to finish the series with Freeza', 'Toriyama received death threats if he made Gohan the hero of the Boo arc'. There is so much of that, that they still readily accept as like gospel truth.

Yea like why is the english dub(youtube-wise) so rude, ignorant , and make up facts. I bet they get 50% of their info from Dbz wiki. IMO what makes it worst is that they think they are correct. To them Akira confirmed that Freeza mother was a Kaioshin, English is the only accurate story, and what character is stronger than what.

On Topic: If you don't count the youtube fanbase. I think DB got a great fanbase. . I know that's unpopular.

I actually don't mind the added dialogue for the SSJ2 Gohan transformation scene in the Funi dub.

Terry Klassan's Babidi is under rated.

Linda Young gives Freeza a wicked snare that fits with the ruthless tyrant she also brings out his cocky side. She also has a "I'm just toying with you" vibe when she speaks and she sometimes gives Freeza a braty vibe that fits when Freeza eventually breaks down and is eventually shown to be some pathetic man child who calls his father "daddy". It's just a fun performance all round.

She also makes him sound like a she, an old she at that. Add that to the constant sexual innuendo and awful jokes, and it's a recipe for disaster. I don't hear wicked, I hear an actor desperately trying to sound wicked.

You should hear Freeza's Blue Water actor. And Linda Young making Freeza sound like a female never really bothered me since IMO a semi masculin female voice works just as well as the semi feminine voice Ayers uses for an androgyness character like Freeza and the rasp works for a lizard like character such as Freeza. And I find it pretty easy to look past the fact it's a womans voice just like I can look past the fact Goku is voiced by a woman.

Nozawa brings out Goku's youthful purity. Freeza may be androgynous, but he's clearly a he and among his defining characteristics is his polite, erudite nature, neither of which is present in Linda Young's portrayal. It's not present in the writing either.

Young doesn't have a semi-masculine voice at all. It's clearly an older lady.

People always bring up "Young doesn't polite" when debating Freeza voices but they forget that being a faux gentleman wasn't the only character trait Freeza had. Linda Young does a good job of bringing out Freeza's other traits and she makes the role her own without worrying about copying the other roles.

No, it wasn't the only but it was prominent. He only sheds the facade when he gets pissed.

Are you talking about the traits that FUNi gave Freeza? This isn't about copying other roles and making it her own. There is only one characterization and he was written wrong until Kai.

I'd have to agree - to an extent, at least. Linda Young may not be the best choice for the role, and is certainly not my preferred voice for the character anymore - but what dialogue she had that wasn't a bad joke or innuendo, was at least done with a good villain-ish vibe.

That said though, the bad jokes/innuendo bothered me even when I was a much younger fan, and still does, much more so than anything else about the old take on the character.

I prefer my villains to be a little less mustache twirly. Freeza's polite and posh demeanor was a nice contrast to his vile nature.
