Dragonball Movie Update! What is UP with this?

It says that "Mr. Fox" one comes out in November 2009, so that's off the list too I guess.

Here's a much better list, no offense.

1) Movie in late August IN JAPAN
Fox stated the teaser would be released in Japan first. Japan gets movie later than the U.S. For example, The Dark Knight was released on August 9th in Japan. There's more June/July movies that haven't aired in Japan to come.

2) Babylon A.D. - August 29th, FOX
It's Fox. It's Sci-fi. All there is to it, really.

3) Max Payne - October, FOX
It's Fox. It's an adaptation. It's action.

Or they could release it August 15th, 2008 on their official website if they were feeling generous.

I was really hoping that they wouldn't give the characters retarded names for this movie..and maybe if they were to do things right actually include little puns in the names like Toryama did, but with names like Weaver, Agundas and Mr. Kingery I don't think they're thinking twice before writing down the names of the characters that they actually have to create.

So apparently it's impossible to determine the movie will suck before it's released, but it's easy to tell that it will be the greatest thing ever to grace Dragon Ball fandom....

It works both ways guys.

I'm skeptical about the whole thing but the fact remains the people who are for the movie tend to present their opinion in a much more intelligent and appealing way. The people who are against it rarely give any reason other than "LOL OMG GOKU IS WHITE."

It gets old.

1. I don't think anybody who defended it also said that it was going to be "the greatest thing" ever to happen to dragonball.

2. "ZOMG!!!!1 thers no kulilin!!1" Does get pretty old after a while.

Krillin's out, the Crane students are possibly out, Goku's a high school student, we have a couple and possibly more useless added characters, and just some weird plot stuff in general (Mai working for Piccolo, Piccolo being able to make evil clones...what?). I'm still bound to see this film because I almost feel obligated to, but I'm pretty sure most of us has given reasons past "Goku is white" which...barely anyone here has said. Reread the posts of the people against it again.

Yeah. It's mostly been advocates of "Why is Goku in High school? Are they trying to adapt Dragon Ball, or parody it?" Which is a valid point. Get off your horse, Jappo.

This movie's going to suck, that's obvious. Every game to movie or anime to movie project has been a miserable failure. This is going to be no different. It might end up being one of those "it's so bad it's good" type of movies though.

I'm sure that the movie will be OK from a non-fan's standpoint, but with other anime based movies such as Astro Boy and Akira coming out in 2009 and getting much higher caliber actors and what seems to be better treatment, this movie may seem even worse when compared to them.

You first. This forum isn't the majority of people, in fact it's quite the minority. Most people, and this is fact, say nothing more than "this is going to suck" or "omg wtf goku is white" or "WHERE IS KRILLIN." Those are 95% of complaints I hear, and trust me I devote a hell of a lot of time to reading opinions.

I know there's legitimate complaints out there and I will admit there's some people here who have legitimate arguments (though you certainly are rude about it) but that doesn't mean they are presented often.

I thought we were talking about daizex. I don't really care about other forums, I visit this one and post here, so that's all that matters to me. This forum has the best quality of people and therefore I respect this place and it's members more than gamefaqs (just an example, I don't know if they discuss the movie over there) or any other cesspool.

Well the people here will account for very little of the movies box office sales.

Just because a film makes a lot of money doesn't mean it's any good. America eats up anything Hollywood sells them.

Personally I think Hollywood's a joke, I'm sick and tired of the ridiculous crap they spew. The only movie I went to this year was The X-Files, because I was a fan of the series. It was alright. So no, I don't buy into hype and see movies just because of some flashy commercials. And Pineapple express? C'mon, really? That right there is a perfect example of what's wrong with Hollywood.

You realize "The X-Files" movie was a Hollywood cash grab like every other movie even most indie films.

There are plenty of good Hollywood films. Too many to name, in fact. Even though they are cash grabs, they are still entertaining. Everything in this world is about money, yet it doesn't mean you can't enjoy what people sell.

It's just some movies like "Star Wars: the clone wars" are more obvious cash grabs than others.

Like I said, I went because I was a fan of the original series. If it wasn't related to the X-Files name, I probably wouldn't have had much interest. I'm sure the same will be said for a lot of Dragon Ball fans, but that won't make it a good film. Besides, my main problem with the DB movie is the live action aspect, X-Files was always live action so I didn't have to worry about that there.

Edit: Also, I didn't say you can't enjoy something just because it was made with the intention of making money. What I will say is that they should at least put enough effort into such productions so that it's not so damn obvious that it was just an attempt to cash in on people's stupidity.
