^ Alright, thanks for the clarification. ^^
Herms wrote:When they say it's going to be set-up like the TB, I assume they just mean the whole "fought in a ring, and you lose if you get a ring-out/KO'd/give up". Presumably it won't be a three round tournament of eight fighters (or four rounds with sixteen fighters, or any "tournament ladder" setup like that), since that goes against everything we've seen so far, particularly in the manga. But we'll find out next episode.
Indeed, that's most probably gonna be it considering the fact that Champa specifically said in the last episode that the tournament is basically going to be set-up like Fortune-teller Baba's one (or even like the Cell Games if we consider Cell as the sole fighter of "his team"): both teams start off by sending in their first fighter each, and whoever wins gets to fight the next opponent of the opposite team, and so on until one of the sides has no more contestant left (the first team that gets to "0" first loses). So yeah, this format is completely different from just a regular Tenkaichi Budokai.

But I kinda find it stupid to include something like "Goku is suggesting the K.O., ring-out and give up rules for the tournament" in a preview summary of an episode, like, is this even a major event of the episode? I mean, it goes without saying that a Martial Arts Tournament will have this kind of rules, it's not like it is a revolutionary suggestion from Goku.

Anyway, I'm just nit-picking a little bit. :p

Yep, Megumi Ogata could be a good choice. I can also see Romi Park as a potential VA for Kyabe, given the fact that she has voiced Hitsugaya from Bleach, who I find to look a little bit similar to Kyabe as they give off the same vibe. But we can rest assured, Toei has always made good choices when it comes to finding the most suitable Voice Actors for Dragon Ball characters, latest good example of that are the VAs of Beerus, Whis, Champa and Vados.

I'd like to see Ono Kenshou voice Cabba and Ono Daisuke voice Hit. Those voices are easy to think of when I think of those two characters' designs.

I was thinking of Ono Daisuke for Hit myself, but for Cabba , Hiroshi Kamiya . They seem to end up working together a lot lately.

Anyone else think/hope that if Dragon Ball Super is marketed right in North America, we could potentially see a toy line?

I'd say it's almost an inevitability, considering how important merchandising is for Toei. After all, it is all about the money, isn't it? I don't see any reason for North America to not get toys.

If Nakao doesn't voice Frost I was thinking Kamiya would work for him.

If it airs on a kids channel then maybe. Otherwise I doubt it since Kai didn't even have a toyline when it was airing on Nick Toons and CW. DB is more market to older fans now since it's just easier to keep things uncut.

Well, I got an email today from Amazon JP saying that Super Blu-ray Box 3 has been delayed a month. The new release date is July 2nd.

I wonder what that's about. Ideally it would mean there's more time to fix up the animation, but it could also be indicative of something else delaying production. Or maybe it doesn't mean anything, since Box 2 is still scheduled for March 2nd.

Box #2 probably doesn't need further corrections. If what Hamakawa and others have said and the production schedule is in massive, dire straits and what Toriyama has complained about is the animation, I'm thinking that there could be a push to try to improve the series. That being said, we really have to remember that Toei Animation has other productions in production, movies included.

It would be cool if it was indeed, to have time to fix any animation problems.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Or do it right the first time around. But that would require putting quality over quantity and changing the outdated business model in the industry which neither Toei or rival studios seem interested in at all unfortunately.

Yeah, I'd highly doubt Toei would have the resources to spare to fix any animation errors. I mean, some scenes in later episodes would have to be practically reanimated from scratch because of how terribly they were originally animated. I mean, EP 25, 26 and 27 need some serious overhauling.

Ever since episode 22/23, something changed. They were introducing new stuff in the FnF arc, material was going fast but steady. All of the sudden, they started rushing the arc delivering weak episode after weak episode. This was around the time that the new arc was starting to be advertised.
At the time I assumed they finally got word that Mr.Toriyama finished writing all the new material, something along those lines and just wanted to get to it.

Maybe it wasn't that, maybe his criticism and the fans growing fatigue from the re-tellings made them focus on the new stuff. There was also that person who tweeted criticizing the production. The postponement of the bluray box might just be another way to try put to Super on track.

There must have been some wrist slapping. I think were safe for some solid episodes (like the last two episodes), at least for the first half of the new arc. Toei must be in full damage control, they did it to themselves.

Excluding Episode #16 the Golden Freeza arc did not really have any good animators other than Tate. The Beers arc had Takahashi and Oonishi. There eas definitely something going on behind the scenes. Oonishi wound up working on the One Piece special and Takahashi has been of doing other things. There probably was not a rush to do anything good with this arc because controversy had died down.

God knows what will become of the tournament
Our best hope is Tate giving up as a sakkan and focusing entirely on animating fight, unless a handful of good animators agree to join the series.

Speaking of which, where the heck is Yamamuro? He just disappeared all of a sudden. I don't think that there is something wrong between him and Toei since he did animate the third ending, so why is he not here anymore?

Is it because he's not satisfied with the working conditions at Toei studios, which maybe turned him off and didn't motivate him enough to work for any more episodes? Which leads to the conclusion that he actually does have problems with Toei, but as I said, it doesn't appear so.

Character designers don't always work on the shows they are character designers for. Kudo Masashi didn't start working on Bleach personally until Episode #118. Yamamuro has also been handling the entirety of the Ending animation himself, in addition to his duties as character designer and chief animation supervisor.

Does the chance exist for us to get Shingo Fujii now that he's left Precure or do you think he's been recruited into One Piece Film Gold?

Where did you see that he left?

Anyway, if he's left then he might be working on a new PreCure film or One Piece Film Gold. Or he's off working on a series from another studio. He does have connections outside of Toei Animation, after all.

Well that's a shame considering how the episode he worked on (13) is one of the most enjoyable of the series so far.
