You know, that plot of DBO could surely serve as either a new movie plot or that of another series. But I guess that is too much to ask.

Paying attention to details would require them to stop absolutely loathing everything for a few seconds, and we can't have that, now can we!JulieYBM wrote:Yeah, his eyes are no longer a flat part of his face thanks to that new brow. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
No one's pretending that it is, but when a song feels awkward and out of place, it'll be awkward and out of place no matter what. J-Pop songs(hell, any pop song used in films, TV shows, etc. in general) usually walk on a very fine line. They either manage to fit extremely well and become an iconic piece for the franchise they're utilized in, or they turn out to feel very inappropriate and make the viewer very aware of it being blatant commercialization.MagicBox wrote:Gettin' reeeaaally tired of people pretending that J-Pop is something new to this franchise.
The key to a pop song working is to have it be so well done and fitting that it hides the fact it's a commercialized product.

Why would anyone want to pay attention to details when they could just post the same joke for 10 pages?JulieYBM wrote:Yeah, his eyes are no longer a flat part of his face thanks to that new brow. Freeza having a protruding brow has been a thing for years now. All recent art pretty much includes this in his design.JulieYBM wrote:Yeah, his eyes are no longer a flat part of his face thanks to that new brow. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
If Toriyama coloured Mr.Popo blue would everyone defend it so much. No shots towards anyone but I keep seeing comments like"Toriyama went above and beyond to surprise us", "Toriyama shocks us again", or "Tori impresses us but going what we didn't expect again".
Just curious. I've seen fan made stuff get complaints for similar plot(I actually like the plot of the manga so far) and designs but no complains towards Toriyama.

I never said it was a recolor. And I been saw the new details. Still hated the design. Hence why I said. The more I look at it. The more I hate.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Paying attention to details would require them to stop absolutely loathing everything for a few seconds, and we can't have that, now can we!JulieYBM wrote:Yeah, his eyes are no longer a flat part of his face thanks to that new brow. I just realised that Frieza's face is now the same colour as King Cold's face.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of comments on the matter too. Even some saying this is lazier than Super Saiyan God. I can't count the number of times I've had to point out elsewhere that even ignoring the color changes, Freeza's traits have changed more with his Ultimate Evolution than Goku's did with his God form.

I reserve full judgment on Golden Freeza until we see Toriyama's artwork for the new form.
Hopefully this movie gets an artbook like "Battle Of Gods" did...

Bet if this was in GT, it'd be panned. A skinny red haired Goku ain't much better either, arguably worse. I've seen Xenoverse Freeza race designs with more creativity than this, and that's sad.NitroEX wrote:Freeza having a protruding brow has been a thing for years now. Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

It's a mixed responce. I don't see the issue at hand.Zephyr wrote:You're seriously not reading this thread, are you?TheGmGoken wrote:but no complains towards Toriyama.

Frieza's new form's looking pretty awesome IMO. Looking like Goten and Trunkd may not be in this but I could be wrong. Not sure how I feel about Vegeta swapping sides but I'm up for anything really.

I would imagine that'll be soon too, probably included in the V-Jump reveal that was originally gonna be our first look at the form.MagicBox wrote:I reserve full judgment on Golden Freeza until we see Toriyama's artwork for the new form.

I doubt it. I mean, I'd love if that happened too. God knows I'd buy the damn thing for a handful of new sketches, but wasn't the Chogashuu the first manga-specific artbook released since Daizenshuu #1 in 1995? I think there would have to be years of content generated before anything new gets published.MagicBox wrote:I reserve full judgment on Golden Freeza until we see Toriyama's artwork for the new form.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
It's interesting for me, because I didn't want a huge, significant change from Freeza. Getting something along the lines of Cooler's transformation or just a full redesign would have been jarring to me. I wanted something simple, but striking.
This... well, it's definitely a simple chance, for the most part, and it's very striking. I just don't exactly understand why they went with the color scheme, besides the "royal" colors. It honestly does look garish, in my opinion, and it's not exactly growing on me. But, ultimately, the look of his new form doesn't matter so much to me. I'm just curious to see how the plot plays out and the kind of drama we'll get!

So a derivative (or in this case recycled) villain, unoriginal and/or (potentially) vague power-ups, and promises of uncharacteristic brutality.
This is Lord Slug.
Lord Slug was all kinds of fun.
No, seriously, in a franchise like this your movie does not have to hit every point to be enjoyable. We should not encourage bad precedents, no, but parts of the franchise thrive off them and have since a lot of us were young children.

Why all the doubt Toriyama could not cook up a context in which the song that inspired the movie makes sense?

Right here. I stamped the movie as creatively bankrupt the moment we got the title. No expectations means disappointment is hard. If anything Freeza-Seiya has a perk to him, in that since it is not a normal transformation, we have no idea what it actually is. Counteract your bad premise with actual intrigue.Zephyr wrote:Speaking for myself, I don't have strong feelings one way or the other regarding the new form. I don't think it's groundbreaking or amazing or anything, but I'm also not going to throw a tantrum over it. I didn't really give myself any expectations, so this isn't a let down or anything. I would definitely rather have this than a retread of Cooler's 5th form. The metric ton of negative reaction is making me unintentionally like it more than dislike it though.Tyro wrote:So: Is Freeza's new evolution actually cool and/or nice to look at, or are we just saying that because we know Toriyama is the one who created it?
