- New staff list-

I'm glad Manabe will take a bite of the Special, he deserves this, but it's frustrating to think Nagamine/Nakamura will pop up in episode 107 and not in the Special.
I'm also disappointed Yamamuro is nowhere to be seen. Why doesn't he supervise at least one ToP episode of his own franchise?! Back in FT Trunks arc, I could assume he was busy with all the character designs for this arc, but now that doesn't hold up anymore. There's still time for him to appear, but after 100+ episodes I sincerely don't like how the face of this franchise is being so absent in a new TV series.

Anyway, now more than ever I've have big expectations for episode 107. Toshio with our two great Directors can only give us something awesome.

As for the Special, we can judge everything properly when the Tournament ends. It's important to not forget the Special is the beginning of the climax, not the end, and supposing the Tournament will last a couple more episodes after that, Nagamine/Nakamura can still appear later with Shimanuki/Karasawa. I doubt episode 106 was the last ToP episode Shimanuki supervises and the only one from Karasawa.

While it can be frustrating we not having our Directors in the Special, we still don't know how everything will turn out in the long run. We also don't have the staff list for episode 110 either. I doubt the Special is a long episode 109 and not episode 109 + 110.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

I think Nagamine and Nakamura will be back to direct the end of the ToP. The special is only the beginning of the climax, it's not the end of the tournament. I also expect to see more of Tate, Shimanuki, Itai and Karasawa.
Also, shouldn't we get some Tiger Mask W staff?

Not sure how credible this information is, but according to Geekdom101, a source has told him that the animation in the special will be "breathtaking". Hopefully it's as good as it sounds.

Tomioka hasn't shown up since #102. I wonder why.

He did some uncredited work during #89. We came to knew that because of Tsu. He showed up when they were running out of time to complete the episode. But he didn't show up on any episode of the FT arc according to the credits. I don't think he showed up to do any uncredited work on the FT arc . We will have to take a look back at the episodes to double check, but I really doubt it, because he should have popped up in #62 and #64 if he was doing some uncredited work, when the episodes were super rushed and really needed some corrections.

In this arc he did Supervise the opening and has done all the endings. Its weird that he hasn't been involved in the actual episodes, apart from #89 which was super rushed and needed helping. But its a good thing, because Ide and Tsuji now handle the episodes on their own, and they don't overcorrect people. Tate went totally overboard in #86 and Tsuji handled the corrections very well. If Yamamuro was actively involved I don't believe the episode would have turned out like that. There would definitely would have been a lot more corrections.

I was also wondering why don't other animators take a different approach on the CDs. I mean Tate's drawings are always loose and its very easy to recognize his work. The same goes with Shida and Shimanuki as well. But why don't the others take such an approach ? Is it because they don't have the license to do so or is it because they don't have their own style on Dragon Ball and thus stick to the CD's. I would really appreciate it if someone can answer this.

He'll probably show up to supervise or animate, if neither of those then he'll probably at least do some correction work.

He'll probably show up doing 5-6 episodes in a row for the climax.

I assume these new images are from the new ED.
If so that's new, usually we don't see anything till release.

EDIT: Does anyone have images of the U6 character designs circa the Champa arc? I think Yamamuro might have updated the designs for this arc.
For months this has been Frost's image on the official site.

But the new Jump preview uses a frumpy looking version.

Ughhh, Caulifla with Cabba's face again?! Can't Yamamuro learn how to draw her?

He's the one who made her character sheet for the show and gave them to her there, I guess he just decided after that he prefers to draw her without.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Yamamuro did either the Kaio-ken times 20, or the transformation for Goku's new form.

They might re-use the animation from the opening for the 20x Kaioken.

Maybe, but I do think the original parts of it are probably going to have at least some Yamamuro.

Edit- Oh wow completely missed that. Guess it's probably wise to stop posting/reading this thread then too.

I don't know if they'll reuse any of the Jiren stuff from the opening, it paints Goku and Jiren as being more equal while the previews make it sound like Goku is greatly outmatched.

Could be just that KK doesn't defeat Jiren like Goku was expecting, I doubt Goku could use it for too long too. It could still be even. It's really hard to take these summaries at face value though, they have a habit of wording things vague and misleading.

They did update some of the character designs for the arc. I noticed it back when they first uploaded the images on Toei's website. Hit and Frost were notably improved. Helles also got a pretty goid revamp about the same time. You shoukd be able to find the old art on the characters' respective DB wiki pages
