More and more I'm starting to think this movie will just be characters at the end of Z reminiscing about their adventures throughout the years.

I wonder if they will interdouced this movie to a bigger auddince or not? The DBZ movies are pretty much made for people who watch the show. Anyone who never saw a single episode will be confused on what's going on in any of 13 DBZ movies.

That would be a terrible idea. Who would go and give his money to a movie theater for a recap?

Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Perhaps the movie's target audience is the older crowd? I mean, if you've seen kai then you pretty much know whats going on. But, that fact that this is not a "kai" film suggests that it's for the older audience. Well, that's my thought at least lol

The Trailer doesn't feel like is going to be simply reminiscing of DBZ. It actually feels like we are going to have some serious battles (IHMO).

Dammit Sueisha/Toei, get over it and reveal more of the story. >(
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

I could ask the same thing about Kai?

And it's the kind of thing Toei would do.

Kai is different. It was a faster & shorter version of DBZ due to the filler removals. It gives a different experience. A recap movie though... no, I don't want such a thing. As an OVA, no problem. But not as a movie.

Sorry if I'm jumping into this thread a bit late, but what exactly is Fox's involvement with this movie? I'm sure their involvement means we'll see a western release but how will this effect Funimation? Again sorry if this has been addressed.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

How is that description different of a recap movie? Kai didn't even had new animation.

What about the people who have to review this movie and they know nothing about Dragon Ball. It's possible that they won't screen this to critics if it gets released here in the US.

The latest significant one being Rebuild of Evangelion, thought it drastically goes off in its own direction in the second movie.

I don't see the new DBZ movie being a recap. Shouldn't even be part of the conversation, methinks. All signs pointing to new story.

What signs, though? All we really know is that it takes place in between that time period ... It could just be Goku and friends having a picnic and reminiscing about all their adventures throughout the years.

Wait? You mean here or Japan? Because I am sure they are aware of Dragon Ball in Japan. It would probably be like reviewers here who reviewed Pokemon the first movie. Not to mention, I am not sure how these things work but I would assume a decent reviewer would research the franchise, or even have the information given to them in a press release.

For one, the quote from Akira Toriyama.
Actually, it’s the first time that I’ve been involved deeply in the production of animation from scriptwriting. I’ve forgotten many things because it has been a while, but as expected of the original author, I was soon able to get the tempo back. This movie will have the original atmosphere and a little bit of modern flavor, so I believe it will be a wonderful entertainment just like old times!

I wouldn't mind FOX hiring celebrities for a dub, if only for the surrealness of hearing something as absurd as "Jim Carrey as Goku" or something.

Regardless, I'll only buy it if it's got the Japanese audio. And then there's the possibility FOX dubbing is ridiculous and everyone is jumping the gun.

If that happens..it would be funny if later down the road Funimation got to dub and then people would get really confused. Or, they go to canada and have ocean dub it

The entire movie is just Enma Daio doing paperwork for two hours.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. "Original atmosphere and modern flavor," that same description applies for Kai, lol.
