I know, its just that whenever I get into arguments like this, saying Goku's genetics play as big of a roll in his power (which they do, there's no two ways about this) his fanboys get pissy even though it's fairly accurate.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

1 - Their humor isn't funny
2 - It's clear the "acting" is done by amateurs doing silly voices
3 - Nothing about it well crafted
4 - It's nowhere near as quotable as The Simpsons
5 - It's not even really written. It's a bunch of jokes strung together

The people who love that show speak in hyperbole and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. I've never seen a TV show or movie as god awful as TFS be as well regarded as it is. I've never laughed once. Every time I've been shown a video from someone trying to come around, I just shake my head because I don't get it. I get that humor is subjective, but it's not even remotely clever. I'd say the thing that grinds my gears is that it is well loved as it is. You want funny, watch Deadpool or Blazing Saddles or Cheers.
Are you over the age of 25? Because I feel like you need you be in the 12-22 range to truly "get it". This copypasta really sums up the type of fanbase Abridged caters to (in my opinion):

If you enjoy TFS, I'm not here to tell anyone they shouldn't. It just boggles my mind that it's spoken so highly of.

It's not a function of age. I'm over 30 and I can still enjoy a good show regardless of the target audience.

I'm not ignoring anything at all. By making the hero being trashed to get ridiculously stronger than the villain without any form of explanation it's an "asspull". That's basic stuff when you writing a story. That's my final response, since you don't want to continue anymore I'll stop.

I get what you're saying, and I feel the same way. Adults and children can find entertainment in material catered to either. But lowbrow humor aimed at a younger audience I'll never be able to enjoy, however hard I might try.

Lol glad some other people feel the same as me on this. I wouldn't say I NEVER laughed at it (and I've only seen maybe 6-7 episodes, to be fair), but by and large I think it's not very funny and mostly relies on tired jokes like Krillin being a wimp.

The first season of Abridged is like that, but basically once they get to Namek, it really comes into its own.

Even assuming that's true, it's not worth my time to wait a season for it to get good.

Clearly you didn't apply this to Community, then. :P

Most series don't get good until after their first season anyway. Star Trek: Next Gen(Aswell as DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise), Parks And Rec, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Red Dwarf, Doctor Who(Both classic and modern), Stargate SG1... I could go on, but you get my point.

Besides, DBZ Abridged's first season is 10 episodes, each only 15 minutes long, whereas most series take 20-26 episodes, each 25-43 minutes, so saying DBZ Abridged isn't worth your time sounds pretty silly next to others like it.
Hell, look at Dragon Ball Super; that didn't get any proper new material until its 29th episode.

It does apply to Community. They had a great first season, and while I get your point, even in great shows that have first seasons where they are finding their footing, there has to be something that I like that's keeping me interested. In Buffy, it was the characters and the dialog and the humor. Same with Angel, The Office, and Parks and Rec. Of the shows mentioned that I've seen, even in shaky first seasons, there was plenty to like. DBZ Abridged doesn't have any of that. I'm not willing to waste 2.5 hours of my life on the off chance that it might get better. The first episode of DB is not its strongest, but I fell in love with those characters right off the bat.

I don't see how you can say Parks And Rec's first season was alright, but say that Dragon Ball Z Abridged's first season is completely unwatchable... Besides, given the amount of praise it's getting, you can't just say "On the off chance it gets better." The only time something like that has got that degree of undeserved praise is Big Bang Theory after its first three seasons.
Besides, if you really don't want to "Waste 2.5 hours", just skip to episode 11, and watch a couple from there. It's not like you have to watch every episode.

I liked the first season of Parks and Rec a lot. It was funny and I liked the characters. Ron Swanson is my hero. I was also pulled into the story of the pit. Yes, the series got better, especially when Chris and Ben arrived, but I found it enjoyable off the bat. The Office's first season was worse than Parks and Rec's and even there I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Abridged is unwatchable. Don't compare an amateur production to even a nascent season of a show with terrific seasoned actors and writers.
Besides, given the amount of praise it's getting
I think that praise is undue. I don't like ths show AT ALL. DBA is awful from bottom to top and I don't see why it has as good a reputation as it does. Even with movies and TV shows I don't like but others do, I can usually see what would appeal to them. I can't in this case, and it does bug me as people often make it sound like I'm not getting something. "Well, if you got the joke, you'd find it funny." I got it, not that I think there's much to get.
just skip to episode 11, and watch a couple from there. It's not like you have to watch every episode.
I tried watching later episodes and at best, the production is better, but the performances and the writing is still the drizzling sh***

I don't see how it makes much sense to review a show if we don't actually watch it all. In fact, that might just be something that "grinds my gears": reviews or critiques of a whole show/series/books/etc where the whole show/series/books/etc weren't watched.

Things that grind my gears: People needing to inform non-fans of DBZA that they're not just not "getting it" and need to watch more. I've heard ABED express his distaste for DBZA before and even if I almost feel like he's getting some sort of pleasure tearing into things that people love, I feel like I said this a couple pages back: move on. Someone doesn't share an opinion with you. It's okay. Find another thread to contribute something worth while to.

Things that grind my gears because the thread needs it: Hercule's name showing up in any content outside of censored dubs on daytime TV. ...of which I should clarify, is not a thing that happens anymore. Kai's run on Nicktoons is over and while we may see reruns one day, both KaiTFC and Super are airing on Adult Swim, uncensored. Besides, the uncut dubs have used "Mr. Satan" since day one. I'm calling out BandaiNamco and Viz for this nonsense.

How much do I have to have seen? I've seen about 2 full episodes and 3 more episodes worth of material over the years. I have a pretty firm grasp of the show to give my thoughts on it.
