Meh, I don't doubt the film is finished post production. They pretty much only delayed it so they wouldn't be competing with The Dark Knight, Tropic Thunder, The Clone Wars, and Pineapple Express.

Honestly, I can't blame em.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

I like how Marsters in that interview said "Dragonball is the beginning, you just can't skip it". If only more fans took his advice.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I have to agree that I do think the movie's been finished for a while now and that the movies you listed were at least part of the reason as to why it was delayed.

I still wish they hadn't chosen Easter weekend/spring break. People are generally traveling either for holiday reasons (visiting family members) or for spring break (going down the shore, going to Florida, California, etc) itself. It doesn't seem like a "movie" weekend to me.

The less of an "ideal" time for movie premieres, the better, if you ask me. That way there will be less other new releases to compete with. That was largely why Speed Racer despite being such a great movie, did so badly by the numbers; it ended up competing with Iron Man.

Would you know what other movies the live-action movie would be competing against at its new April release date?

I'm not that big of a movie buff, admittedly; so I wouldn't really know where to check for that.

EDIT: Oh wait, I found it. I think.

According to http://www.film-releases.com/film-relea ... e-2009.php , April 10th Movie Releases are:
# Bandslam
Summit Entertainment

# Case 39
Paramount

# Dragonball
20th Century Fox

# The Hannah Montana Movie
Walt Disney Pictures

# Observe and Report
Warner Bros

Is it wrong that I'm eager to watch this adaption blow "Hannah Montana" out of the water?

As much as the alterations I've read so far bother me, I still want to see it win against her.

Nope, not wrong at all.

*High-fives*

Maybe that should be what we rally support for this movie under? "It's better than Hannah Montana!" can be the battle cry.

If all that were true, considering how much effort Fox has put into keeping details of this movie under wraps, wouldn't they have taken that down by now?
I can't help but notice that it's all just elaborating on stuff we've already heard or could have guessed at.
I really have no clue since I hadn't even heard the movie was getting pre-screened already but this has my suspicion radar going crazy, especially considering this user only registered with IMBD 2 weeks ago.
Kind of smells like a troll to me.

Marsters' Piccolo, the Kamehameha, Goku flying off into the sunset after the credits? = coolness.

Just so everyone knows, August is a horrible time to release a movie. I have been working at a movie theater for 5+ years, and I can tell you, if you release your movie in August, it has a very slim chance of getting out of "bomb" territory. Tropic thunder was the only august release this year that didn't tank. Star Wars Clone Wars Bombed hard. We had it out my theater and I think 150 people came to see it over it's entire run.
Now, the spring March/April time is better, only slightly though. It's a good time for sleeper hits. Like 300 for example. It was released around that time and was a huge hit, and i can tell you, 300 has far less of a following than DB.

Also, there are far more fans than we know of. I was honestly surprised the last time I was in FYE (a few days ago), there were a couple of 15/16 year olds talking about DBZ, and then some little kid, maybe 8, started talking to me about it.

Just look at stock. With all all the flavors of the week coming out, the overall tone shift in what tends to get licensed now as opposed to ten years ago, and the obscurity of many titles that were prevalent back then... DB/Z is a very well-stocked (and very large) chunk of space in most major book stores. To a lesser extend, I still see the DVDs in fairly high volume in stores too.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

 Not Hannah Montana, She is a musical genius worthy of been put their with people like prince and David Bowie, Her acting is worthy of shakespear himself.

To sit there and criticise the greatest entertainer of the last decade or two is quiet frankly disgusting and I shall have no part in it nor will I stand here and allow this corruption of the people that you type to continue

So an interview of the French magazine, "Cine Live", to James Wong surfaced online, thanks to dbthemovie.com.
And it kinda confirms what the girl (who apparently saw the movie) says about Roshi, that is, no perverted Kame-sennin.
Is Roshi true to the manga character? “Yes, somewhat,” said director James Wong. “We kept his main features, like his humor. But in the manga Roshi is a true sexual pervert, which wouldn’t work in a family film. So we removed that part of the character.”

“I discovered that Dragonball had such a rich universe that it would take several films to cover all of its treasures. My goal with this movie is not to convince existing fans that Dragonball is great, they already know this, but to give a new audience. More adults, as I was a neophyte myself before discovering the manga!”

And Tim Van Rellim gave some insight into what the set picture /Film posted was for.

“Here, we can build a large [volcano], including the decoration of the volcano where the hero must take one of seven Dragon Balls.” The crater is impressive, gigantic artificial arena. “By day, the volcano is nothing. But at night, the lighting for the scene takes it to another dimension.” And that’s not counting the digital special effects that will fill the green screen with lava.
The rest of the interview talks about the picture of the volcano we got a while back.

In the criminal justice system, sexually-based offenses are considered especially heinous.
Roshi's pervertedness is of those societal things that doesn't translate well over into the U.S. I suppose.

Kinda like how people can lose limbs and heads (Tenshinhan, Guldo, Freeza, etc) in animated shows intended for younger audiences in Japan, yet such stuff is considered for mature audiences over here.

Meh; I don't really overly care about Roshi though; all that matters to me at this point is that Goku's personality is kept in-tact and in-character. If Goku's still Goku, I'll be far more accepting to anything bizarre that goes on around him. (Which is why I'm hoping that account name from the last page or so is telling the truth about having seen the movie.)

Well one of the things she said seems to be true so who knows. I hope she was telling the truth and not just yanking our chains. :(

EDIT: Apparently, one of her post got deleted. She also had this to say:

Does Yamcha wear a gi?

Yes, but he doesn't when we first meet him. In fact when we first meet him he looks nothing like Yamcha. This is when he saves Roshi, Goku and Bulma from a pit.

Does Roshi try to fight Piccolo?

Not exactly. He attempts to fight some of the Namek-Jins though.

Who all competes in the World Martial Art Tournament?

Goku, Mai, Chichi are the most notable characters. Lesser known characters competeting are; Jackie Chun, Giran, Bacterian, Nam & two others whose names I have forgotten.

How does Goku learn to fly?

He learns this with Roshi which is rather strange because in the show I believe he learnt how to fly from Kami. Kami was most likely omitted because the Nameks are portrayed as bad guys in this picture.

Is Kami in the movie?

I think I pretty much just answered your questions.

Any nods to other DB/DBZ characters?

Not really. Theres not really much to elaborate on this question.

Is capsule corp in the movie?

It is mentioned but the power of the capsules is toned down, for example they can't hold houses or anything, only minor, small objects.

Thanks for reading

I don't know about this... :? Then again nobody here believed that one guy. You know the one who had information about that new special ?

I would be depressed if it turns out she is yanking our chains; because most of the information she gave made me feel a lot better about the adaption. If she's lying I'll be all :( / :? again.

What would make me laugh is if Live Action Jackie Chun is bald. X3

I STILL want to see the rest of his character sheets that nobody wants to share with us.

A lot of the time you can tell when something is bull or not. The fact that everyone hasn't completely brushed it off makes me feel like the poster could be telling the truth. It seems SO believable.

Um... those are all over the web, Chuquita.. On my site on the Cast page, on CHUD.com, and on a lot of other sites.

It's from an old draft I heard though?

I know! Not only that but by her count there are 9 fighters in the tournament when there should be 8. I think. You never know though about Jackie Chun. It could just be Roshi in disguise like the show. They did give Goku the blue gi after all.

I really want to believe they were telling the truth, because this:
No, he doesn’t discover he has the powers because Grandpa Gohan has already trained him slightly. The High School scenes only feature Goku as almost a freak show. Forced to fight a bully, demonstrating his power by lifting objects etc. Everyone knows of his power and in the high school scenes he isn’t afraid to show it.

And this:
There are funny parts. The idea of Goku and Chichi had some of the audience giggling. Goku is oblivious to the fact that Chichi clearly fancies him, lots of distractions & confusion ensues.

Made my hopes soar higher than they've ever been throughout these various movie threads.
On hiatus.
