Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
Shida's PreCure stuff mostly is of a much higher level than anything he's done on Dragon Ball and One Piece. Some of his One Piece stuff is pretty sick though. He doesn't get to show his full power in Dragon Ball.
This scene is out of this world and the best cuts he has ever done. It is considered the best among Shida hardcores and I agree. It is insane. My personal favorites are some of his henshin scenes. Absolutely gorgeous. Disk Wars also had some neat Shida action.

Wow, that first one was all over the shop, but I can definitely appreciate the work that has gone into it to make it so smooth, while looking great frame to frame.
That second henshin scene though, wow! It was crisp, clean, smooth and the details of those accessories were on point.

How I wish I could block these distractions when I am supposed to be studying...

You really don't need to go far to find better shida than episode 66. Even just his work on 57 is better, just shorter, then there's a wealth of stuff from precure that's better, a bit of onepiece and of course his stellar work on BoG, I really want to see him get more time on super some day, but hey, at least now we get him at all.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
Why is it that the beam fx in the older series looks brighter and flashier, like real light as compared to the new one? Should've been brighter in digital but somehow it's less shiny now. Could someone please explain?

Probably legislation that doesn't allow such flashing light ever since the Pokémon episode with Polygon, that caused massive epileptic attacks back in 98 or 99.Shreyas_Singh wrote:Why is it that the beam fx in the older series looks brighter and flashier, like real light as compared to the new one? That's exactly it.
Such a shame because now the beams feel weak in comparison.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
It's just one example. There are plenty of times when the beams in Z had 0 glow effect. Final Flash against Magetta and Kamehameha against Zamasu in ep66 had strong glow effects.Shreyas_Singh wrote:Why is it that the beam fx in the older series looks brighter and flashier, like real light as compared to the new one? Man, I don't want to hear about animators being lazy again after doing a tiny tiny bit myself on paper and taking into consideration the factors that the professionals have to think about though I was being lazy by just wanting to get to the next frame than making sure the previous one was decent

I think his episode 66 cut was way better.ADdictedHD wrote:You really don't need to go far to find better shida than episode 66. The first one was godly, never knew he was capable of that. The other ones may be well animated but were total nonsense. His Super work is way more entertaining since it includes combat scenes. I searched his One Piece work on YouTube and they all were boring as hell despite how detailed the art was. I guess the style that I like is Legend of Korra animation. Nothing tops that.Saikyo no Senshi wrote:Shida's PreCure stuff mostly is of a much higher level than anything he's done on Dragon Ball and One Piece. They might not be as interesting to you, but that has nothing to do with actual animation quality.Amir wrote:I think his episode 66 cut was way better.ADdictedHD wrote:You really don't need to go far to find better shida than episode 66. Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
I just finished binge re-watching the episodes of the Tournament of Power (97-112) and it's completely insane the amount of pure action thats been taking place in the last 15 episodes. But what's more unbelievable is how consistent the arc has been quality wise.. Yes, you have the excessive bank animation of episode 97 and 98 and some weird shots here and there, but overall, the quality is very consistent..
Every single episode from 97 is action packed.. This arc has not been conservative at all... Zamasu Arc had much less action than this and it struggled to maintain a certain amount of quality.
That's how you know that those 10 episodes of filler between Zamasu Arc and Zen Exhibition/Recruitment Arc really did pay off.
The schedule must be pretty much fixed.. Them being able to pull 15+ episodes of pure action without any collapse in quality speaks volumes of how much this series has improved.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 100
I think the negative part of this arc is shida limitations, the fact that he had not enough time to produce something equal to black arc level.
All his cuts on ToP arc are generally goku close ups towards the enemy trying to land a punch.
I think since the schedule is better and big talents like takahashi being regular supervisors, they should give shida more time to make a really action packed cut that could easily surpass previous arc cuts

The arc isnt done yet, so give it some time till he can produce something that can satisfy you.cuartas wrote:I think the negative part of this arc is shida limitations, the fact that he had not enough time to produce something equal to black arc level.

Kale looks a lot less like a Broly clone now. Her design looks better now.
