Sorry for reviving such old thread but Herms threads are this good. We have read material for over a year.
Herms wrote:The section also explains that all the nifty technology the Saiyans are shown using aren’t their own inventions, but rather stuff they stole from other planets. This goes along with Toriyama’s comment in the interview section, where he says that since time immemorial the Saiyans raided other planets and built up goods and wealth.
So the Saiyans are already "space pirates" before working with Freeza? Are the space pods, scouters, battle armor, etc. already used by Saiyans before Freeza "subjugate" them? I thought Saiyans are essential "cave-men" before Freeza.

I don't know about the attack balls, but scouters are Tsufuru-jin tech, and the battle jackets are technology that Freeza's scientists either created, or he gained after absorbing the group who made them into his organization.

Saibamen were created by Saiyans, so most likely some crude spacecraft was invented by them, too. They then invaded other planets and used what was better from then on. So just going by the manga and this character volume, the space pods, scouters and battle armor that we see in the manga were not being used prior to encountering Freeza. However, it is possible that older ones were in use. For example, the armor used by Vegeta after his battle with Recoom is considered "an older model." That or something more rudimentary like Bardock's armor may have been used by Saiyans prior to being conquered by Freeza.

So for what I know, the Saibaimen were used for training and for gauging a person's battle power when a scouter would be inaccurate. Do you think they also used them for taking over planets?
