Dragon Box to include BOTH dub tracks?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Come on... Seriously, you're just adding fuel to the fire.:?

Perhaps this thread was ill-fated from the get-go...

Seriously people, stop it. Stop treating those who disagree with you as a child. This is aimed at both sides of this argument.

Listen man. This isn't the place for that. So can we please drop it? Every member here would love to trash the hell out of anything dub related at the drop of a hat. If you don't want negativity toward something you love, it's simple, don't incite it.

If FUNimation puts in 2 dub tracks and the video quality is bad, then I'll be asking for my money back very fast. I just can't stand the dub track and it's music.

If yourself and LeprikanGT didn't post lowball comments, this wouldn't have gone this far.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Same. I'll get the Season Sets, since I actually loved the 2 I had.

I like them because they're cheap, they're consistent, and as far as I knew, they were the best option available. Something better comes along and I want it. I don't see what's wrong with that. I especially don't see what's amusing about it. I don't believe anybody with half a brain cell ever claimed that the season sets are superior to the Dragon Box. I said I liked the season sets because the Dragon Boxes were some intangible item that obtaining would be a pipe dream.
Eh, you're not exactly the type I was referring to, but I'll answer nonetheless.

The big thing is that the season sets were targeted for a casual audience, with a flashier appearance (attempted emulation of digitally animated shows, a new aspect ratio, 5.1 audio, etc) and an advertising campaign to boot (the commercials with their local DFW area band playing that "The dragon, the dragon" song, the "5 year old born every day" statement, etc). And the show was released fully and consistently in that form. Honestly, that demographic has been fully served.

Now, in all fairness, it's time for those who kept waiting for a genuine release of the original show to get theirs. And that's how FUNimation announced it and has advertised it. Honestly, I don't care if the dub is there (and I doubt many do)...so long as it doesn't impact the release otherwise. Nothing has been said to indicate it won't have some effect, whether you notice it or not. And the people who bought the season sets really don't care, either because they don't have setups that show these problems or because they simply don't pay that much attention. I think that's the main problem with breaking from the initial marketing of this release as being for the "hardcore" fanbase: the "casual" fans are just that much easier to please.

And honestly, quite a few people (here and elsewhere) have said they genuinely preferred the season sets to the DragonBoxes in terms of their picture quality. Brain cells or no, they have their opinions and they've stated them.

Who is this aimed at?

If it's at me, then I just find it boring, and repetitive. Not to mention just plain wrong for the source material... I don't "hate" it. I just don't like it.

You can like it all you want, but then going around flaunting it as the "superior" version and talking about how the original sucks, that is where I have problems.

You can say you like it better, but childishly insulting the other version is where I draw the line.

What purpose does that serve? If these sets and the show at large sell no matter the score, why is the dub score important? So important that it risks lowering the visual quality of these sets?
Using this logic, why is the Japanese score so important?
Because it fits the intended attitude of the show as a whole much more. Or that it came first. Or because the only reason the dub score was conceived was because FUNiamation thought kids were too ADD to enjoy the original, and they could make money by playing their own music constantly.

Take your pick.

The Ocean dub isn't on there either by the way, that dub, plus the score, is the one I grew up with, and gives me a nostalgia boner.

I'm not whining about it being missing, I was pissed when I heard the voices on the Season One box set, for some reason I was expecting the Ocean dub, and it disappointed me, but I turned to Japanese on the menu and loved it, and it's sunk in so far that I don't even say Hercule or Tien, or even pronounce Saiyan wrong any more.

It doesn't matter if you grew up with it, you shouldn't ruin this for everybody else. Stop being babies. If the score is on there, good for you, if Funimation were really aiming this at the fans, they'd redub the show, or save money and keep it Japanese only.

If the score's the only thing missing, you shouldn't mind, it's not Dragon Ball Z music anyway.

You should suck it up, watch the show properly for once, if you don't like the music right away, then stop watching, maybe find new interests, go fishing, talk to that girl you've been eyeing for a while, learn to play an instrument, because seriously, you're whining about a Japanese cartoon having Japanese music.

I'm not INSULTING the JP music, I'm just saying its not my cup of tea....but 95% of you ARE insulting the Dub music.

Seems pretty contradictory to me.

Dude, there's also more then just YOUR opinion too, stop acting like only your opinion matters, and that merely DISAGREEING with your opinion is insulting you, it's really getting old.

If I have to watch DBZ with music that I don't like, then I'd rather not watch it in it's "proper form." Not everyone likes the Japanese music or think it fits just because it's the original version, and because of questionable decisions Funi made in the past, you have an alternative.

Is it really so wrong to NOT LIKE the Japanese score or think it's crappy music or think it doesn't fit the show?
