As I recall, at one point in the series when Mezase had a remix/cover for the theme, the dub (still done by 4Kids at the time, I think) likewise produced a new cover of the original English theme.

Pokémon is one of those series where, IMO, a certain amount of localization in a dub really doesn't hurt it. Just about every region and language in the world has their own names for the monsters themselves and such, after all.
I'll agree to this somewhat, if only because there are so many monsters, and they're just as, if not more, steeped in Japanese word puns than DBZ characters.

Sohnano and Sonans, for instance.

The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Don't forget the ones whose Jaanese names are just regular English words. Sounds punny in Japanese, isn't always punny in other languages.

They did a cover for the first movie, like the Japanese did a cover of Mezase. I take it you're thinking of the fourth English OP, though, which wasn't a cover like the fourth Japanese OP, but just reused the first few lines from the first English OP and used them as a base for a new song. It's one of the best English openings.

No, most just use the English names. Only... 7? adaptions of the franchise have their own name sets.

Names like "Crab" aren't puns, they're just... well, English. A lot of the early Japanese Pokemon names were just terribly lazy, that's all. "Zenigame"? "Hitokage"? "Yamikarasu"? Say what you want about "Squirtle", "Charmander" and "Murkrow", but at least some sort of effort was put into their names (not like the English names didn't have their problems, though - "Persian" and "Golem" are pretty lame)

And yeah, the various Pokemon dubs are perfect examples of localized and edited dubs done right. Well, minus the "replaced music" part they still suffer from.

Hi guys, I know this may be strange to some people, but I wanted to know if there was a way to find DAN DAN for download. I have not been able to find it on iTunes. I searched but could not find it. It is my favorite DragonBall song, and I wanted to listen to it on my ipod. If anyone could help me, I would be very thankful.
hey, what's up?

...What does any of that have to do with this thread?
