I think it's because FUNi wants the episodes to air on TV before they release them on DVD.Kendamu wrote:Really? September? That seems a little longer than usual. I guess it's to be expected since the show is still in production.

Makes sense. It's still a surprise to hear about Dragonball Kai actually being on TV.

I'm honestly not surprised. If you look at Z's ratings, airing Kai would be a no brainer.Kendamu wrote:Makes sense. It's still a surprise to hear about Dragonball Kai actually being on TV.

There are a lot of series that would be a "no brainer" but since they're anime they've been overlooked in recent years. I guess maybe there's finally something good coming out of the reputation in the US that, "Dragonball Z is not real anime."Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I'm honestly not surprised. here a hi-res pic from the dbzkai cover:

and could it be possible that the cover has a holographic effect with shenlong ???

The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

Re: Funimation Dragon Ball Kai Bluray Speculation
It's not surprising at all that they would go ahead and try to get a TV deal out of it. Dragon Ball Kai is only known by fans of the show who knows it exists. Besides that, Dragon Ball Z has not been on the air in years. If they want to attract new fans and new kids to buy their product, putting it on TV will give them a lot more success than just releasing the Blu-ray to fans of the show who already probably are buying the Dragon Boxes, and hoping for the best.
Plus, they actually put work into it. They had actors come into the studio and all that. Just like any one of their other titles, it's almost as if they're doing a brand new show. Why not put it on TV? But putting it on Nicktoons is a weird move to me. Unless they're looking at Wolverine and the X-Men's ratings as a guide, which is an exclusive for Nicktoons. I think that putting it on regular Nickelodeon would be better than even putting it on Adult Swim in terms of gathering new fans (kids). People who watch Adult Swim were probably around for the run of Z and would watch Kai even if it was on Nickelodeon. Hey, I'm just saying how I'd look at it. I'm not marketing genius, and I don't know what FUNimation were thinking, but that's just my two cents. It would be cool if they had a dual contract, where they'd play it both on Nicktoons and Adult Swim, to give that uncensored version some TV time. Unless of course they're saying, "hey guys, only way you can see it truly uncensored is to get the release." That works too.
