I also said translations can be subjective, but there is a fine line. If the translation just makes random shit up, then I think it would be no longer subjective. Voices on the other hand, are completely subjective, no matter what the original voice sounds like.

But proper characterization isn't subjective. Often, especially in anime, the way someone sounds plays a big part in their character and personality. Like Goku having a child's voice (despite his physical appearance). If a dub is going to go a slightly different direction with that voice, then the most important thing is to make sure the character is still portrayed faithfully through it.

Now, like I already said on the previous page, this thread isn't meant to be a Sub vs Dub "debate." So let's try to leave it be, a'ight?
