Dragon Ball Kai: The Unofficial Buu Saga (CANCELLED)

I have some bad news for the OP. Along with a glimmer of hope.

Anyway, I just got Dragonbox 6 in the mail. Tried getting Majin Vegeta vs Ssj2 Goku without music...and it's screwed up. I'll outline this for some people.
When I do the music removal process, I usually have it up on Sony Vegas 10, it display's 4-6 tracks

Track 1: Video
Track 2: Voices+ Sfx
Track 3: Music
Track 4:Music
Track 5: Music.

See? This is how it would be if it were perfect. Just get rid of everything except Track 1+2. This method works for (in no particular order)
1. Dbz movie 9
2. Dbz movie 10
3. Dbz movie 12
4. Dbz Movie 13
5. Gt season 2 remastered( I dont have season 1)
6. Kai DVD's

Now, when I tried Dbox 7, I came across some issues
Track 1: Video
Track 2:Voices+Sfx
Track 3: Music+ Sfx
Track 4: Music + Sfx
Track 5: Music+sfx

So when I get rid of everything but 1+2, I'm stuck with the video without sound effects(or the SFX is pretty low). However, it's still bearable as you can still hear the voices...and add in your own sound effects . Or deal with it.

This was the case for specifically :Ssj3 Gotenks vs Super Buu. The whole Mystic Gohan vs Super Buu(with gotenks as well) fight. And the whole Vegito vs Buuhan fight. I didn't test Ssj3 goku vs kidbuu yet.


NOW with Dragon box 6 (well for the specific disk that has Gohan vs Dabura and Goku vs Majin Vegeta)on the other hand..., it's screwed up.
Track 1: Video
Track 2: Voices+Sfx+Music
Track 3: Voices+Music
Track 4: Voices+ sfx+ music
Track 5: Music+ Sfx

As you can see, it's all over the place. Even if you get rid of 3-5, you'll not only lose out on voices, but you'll STILL be able to hear the old bgm. And it IS noticeable. But this was done on Majin Vegeta vs Ssj2 Goku + Dabura vs Gohan.

The Ssj3 Goku fight with FatBuu works.(Along with Goku's transformation). but has little to no sgx


BUT yeah. My assumption is that Funi screwed up some parts on on Dbox 6, and fixed (Or tried to)their way's with Dbox 7. It's why I didn't hear the old Bgm from the Gotenks vs buu fight, gohan vs buu fight, or Vegito vs buu fight.

So you'll either have to
1. Deal with it. Try to add in music to override the old Bgm. And honestly, that process usually results in mediocrity imo. You would barely have any chance to have "silence"(Since you'd hear the old bgm)."

2. Cut out those fights for your "buu saga". Or cut out some parts. Not all of them have the old bgm, but most of the fight does.

3. Try some other process. The one crab was talking about. Issue is, I haven't seen a step by step guide on this(like a video, or pictures). And other people i've talked to, have said that they screwed up on this method. And I'm talking about that Utagoe(sp?)/inversion process.


Now, I refuse to fucking believe that in 2012, we still do not have a sure fire program to separate voices from the music. And that's where this program comes in


4. Spectral layers. Apparently, you can separate the Voices from the music

Look at tutorial 2. You may as well look at the other tutorials to see what the whole program is about. It seems like a pretty darn good program .Since he was able to do it to an old Star wars movie. There is a TRIAL for this. Though you cannot save

Downside: It's $695 for the standard version(limited btw) and $2,199 for the full version.

I've been aware of this problem. I got tons of DBZ SFX so no worries.

Yeah adding in Sfx to the fights shouldn't be too much trouble. I recorded some RB1 SFX+ used an Sfx pack on the internet. It's doable. At first I thought it was complicated. But it's easier than I thought.

My main issue is that funi or whoever is in charge of the audio set up, mixed the bgm with all 6 tracks. At least for the Goku vs Majin Vegeta fight and parts of Gohan vs Dabura.

Darn. Perhaps you should just try using the Orange Bricks footage for the Dragon Box 6 material? The animation and colors may be a little inconsistent, but hey, that's how you'll know it's Dragon Ball Z Kai!!

Well I tested my method with both the orange brick+Dbox and...

Result is pretty much the same. As in, audio set up is the same for both. You would still hear the old bgm for Goku vs Majin Vegeta on both versions . Event's after that however (such as goku teaching goten and trunks how to fuse, Goku turning Ssj3, goku fighting fat buu) aren't really an issue(Besides the loss of some sfx).

AFAIK, I believe this same problem exists for the "return of cooler" dvd as well(A friend of mine who does the same process as I do, informed me) . For some reason, the people who who were responsible for how the audio is set up, mixed the music with all of the tracks that it's nearly impossible to remove them.

And I say "nearly" because if you look at the "Spectral layers" video, it is possible to separate them. But hey, maybe there is another cheaper/better alternative to getting the fight without music, that I'm not aware about. I mean , Turtle Marked stone from page 2 states

There's 2 ways you can do this without fighting the music.

The dub for the Boo arc isn't awful at all. If you use the season set's audio you can separate the music from the dialogue. If you don't want to do that then you'll just have to work with the music and not fight against it. If the music starts off say...panning across a field leave the field shot in. There will be more filler than usual but you'll still be able to get rid of a lot of it

Just gonna bump this thread to say that the later parts of Goku vs Vegeta work. They don't have the old bgm mixed in

Fat Buu vs supreme Kai and Gohan works

The whole Majin Vegeta vs Buu fight works

Ssj3Goku /Ssj2 Vegeta vs Kidbuu works.

All in all, Funi or whoever handles the audio seems to have only screwed up on the particular disk that has Gohan vs Dabura and the early parts of Goku vs Majin Vegeta.

Your NEP was actually fairly impressive, but why stretch the footage? Your OP also suffers from this. It would kill my enjoyment. Either crop the footage yourself, or do a standard 4:3. Please, PLEASE don't stretch it and leave us no other option!

But, the Episodes themselves will be avaliable in a 16:9 and 4:3 ratio.

Considering I can't remove music from the Jap voices, I wouldn't count on it.
