GENERAL UPDATE:
- Versions based on one or two specific "Daizenshuu 1" artworks will now be named after their Daizenshuu illustration number ("Daizenshuu _ version" instead of "Manga version N°_").
- New entries will now also be displayed on the Update Notification post.
- Minor arrangements of pictures and descriptions so that Daizenshuu versions appear in order from 1 to 265.
UPDATE: KAIO / KARIN / NYOÏ BO / SHENRON / SON GOKU

It's actually Shen Long, but spellings are completely irrelevant to the point of the project.
You're right, many people have many ways to call the characters depending on countries and medias, but just for you guys to know why:
being French, I use the French Tankobon/Kanzenban as my reference.
And it was chosen in the official final retranslation (both for Tankobon and final Kanzenban updates), that "Shenron" would prevail over "Shenlong" or "Shen Long" for the French market.
The translation notes state:
"Each Dragon Ball has a Chinese name meaning 'star ball', preceded by the number of stars contained. The Chinese transcription being hard to pronunce, we chose to use the Japanese version. Example: Su Shinchu instead of Si Xing Qiu. To remain coherent with most other characters and elements, the Japanese transcription is used for the sacred dragon as well: Shenron instead of Shenlong."
So for the French market, it's Shenron and Su Shinchu, keeping with the Japanese pronunciations instead of the Chinese meanings. It's as simple as that!

Kinda similar to how we constantly choose to have "Freezer" likely to pronunce it in a proper English way, most French people seeing "Freeza" would pronunce it "Fray-ay-za", not seeing it's English-based because of the exotic "za" ending the word.
KAIO:

1) Anime version.
2) Kanzenban version N°1. Totally new colors for Kaio's outfit compared to the anime. He reappears in a later Kanzenban cover with yet another set of colors (a little closer to the anime version, with pink or red sleeves), but playing a minor role in the illustration instead of being the main (very detailled) center of interest, so I guess this first version you see is more relevant.
3) Daizenshuu 196 version. You've already seen a pink Kaio. But maybe you've never seen OUR North Kaio being pink. In a party artwork by Toriyama, Kaio appears in his usual outfit, albeit with a purple hint on his hat. But his skin has changed! What if Kaio could actually change the color of his skin when it's party time? Might be his way to suit up for the occasion! That, and white glasses too.
KARIN:

1) Anime version.
2) Manga version N°1. Karin has been shown to have several colors for his fur. But Toriyama seems to prefer blue. I took this specific "light blue with white spots" from the color pages (chapter 163). His staff is lighter than in the anime version.
3) Manga version N°2 /
Dragon Ball Online version. A version of Karin shown on the side cover when putting the Tankobon together. Karin is all dark blue, except for the nose which is black. His staff is lighter than the anime version.
4) Daizenshuu 67 version. An artwork by Toriyama used for a calendar. He has a "golden cat" fur (somewhere between orange and yellow) and a blue staff.
5) Daizenshuu 196 version. An artwork by Toriyama. A fully brown Karin, except for his little pink nose.
NYOÏ BO:

1) Anime version.
2) Kanzenban version N°1 /
Dragon Ball Online. The first cover of the Kanzenban edition clearly shows this brown color, for a scabbard clearly made of wood! It is also used in
Dragon Ball Online, but with Goku's original blue outfit (as opposed to the first Kanzenban cover).
3) Daizenshuu 2 version. The scabbard is blue for this Toriyama artwork.
4) Daizenshuu 5 version. Orange scabbard this time, still in a Toriyama artwork.
SHENRON:

1) Anime / Manga version.
2) Daizenshuu 1 version. The most striking difference - similarly many Toriyama artworks about Shenron - is that he actually has irises and pupils (blue-grey irises and black pupils in this case). Shenron appears with a darkened, almost turquoise blue, which includes his jaw. Whiskers share his skin color, and so do the combs over his body.
3) Daizesnhuu 2 version. A greyish pink color, with a skin that's a little darker than usual. The combs are just slightly darker than the skin. His eyes are yellow, with red irises and black pupils.
4) Daizenshuu 3 version. A fiery dragon: vibrant orange color and bright yellow skin, along with brown combs. Note that his whiskers are yellow too. The red irises (with black pupils) are noticeably smaller in this one, which doesn't impact his friendly representation in the original artwork, but does make him look a lot more threatening in this render. If Shenron ever looks at you that way, I would advice you run for your life!
SON GOKU:

1) Anime version.
2) Manga version. The Kame Sen Gi is orange instead of red in the manga. The Kame Sen symbol has a white background.
3) Daizenshuu 10 version. While still retaining his black belt, Goku's wrists are turned red in one Toriyama artwork.
4) Daizenshuu 21 version. One artwork shows Goku sporting a blue belt and purple wrists.
5) Daizenshuu 23 & 29 version. The belt and wrists are faded purple in at least two Toriyama artworks.
