One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
Re: One Hour DBZ/Toriko/One Piece crossover to Air April 7
I feel I've already stated what I've got to say about the first part compared to the second part of the series in my previous posts. I'll just add that I fully disagree with your opinion and that, no, at first the series wasn't all about Sasuke's clan and their eyes (at first they weren't even more special or more powerful than Neji's clan eyes for example, nor was the clan itself), the Hokages weren't godlike (you just have to read or watch their fight with the third when they were brought back the first time to see that) and the first Hokage's cells weren't the answer to every problem.
And yet it seems that the series just comes down to that, and the tailed beasts.
Wasted potential.

POSSIBLE NARUTO SPOILERS IN THIS POSTJulieYBM wrote:The series was always about those things, though. I sure as hell don't want Kishimoto to spend time on Lee, Neji, Tenten, Ino, Chouji, and any other of Naruto's classmates "just because." It's like complaining about the lack of Tenshinhan and the other Earthlings in later arcs.rereboy wrote:The problem was the focus and the amount of focus on Sasuke and his clan's eyes, among other things. After a while, everything that matter in the series was Sasuke, his clan eyes, the tailed beasts, the first Hokage's cells and Naruto.JulieYBM wrote:
Regarding Naruto: the Sasuke stuff was the best thing that could've happened to the series. It was an exciting plot twist I certainly didn't see coming and catapulted the story in an exciting new direction that has been paying off years. Arguments against Sasuke always come off as awful whining that's worse than Sasuke supposedly is. "Oh God, a character with the power seeking revenge decides to indulge in his negative feelings and the story isn't resolved in one arc; how am I going to pretend everything is sunshine and rainbows now?" That the kind of shit that drags other titles down.
That's actually a small complaint I do have with DB, though. IMO, It would be great to get more action involving the supporting cast. Kishi did a great job in Part 1 of giving characters great back stories and giving nearly all of them a chance to shine. However, over the past 2/3 years it's quickly begun to push them off to the side to the point where, when a major supporting character died recently, the death had nearly no impact at all because we hadn't even heard from this character in over a year or two. And they hadn't really contributed anything to the story since the beginning of Shippuden, maybe even before that.

I'unno 'bout that. I thought it was about as affective as any of the Saiyan arc deaths and half of them had arguably less importance than the Naruto character.Big Momma wrote:

My point was that the Hyūga were also pretty high up there, even if the Uchiha were considered the best, and still they hardly mattered in the second part of the series.
(Especially in a series where even the strongest should be able to be killed by a simple knife if he gets distracted. At least at first, characters in Naruto weren't immune to different powers and techniques and any one of them could kill any ninja given the opportunity. In a series like that, I fail to see the point in focusing the entire plot and series in just a few of those elements).

Given how this crossover will be, does anyone else picture Vegeta sharing a powerful car with Chopper but always stopping to cheat with Chopper laughing? Or someone singing this song that some guys might have to ask their dad about:
Stop that Saiyan
Stop that Saiyan
Stop that Saiyan
Stop that Saiyan
Stop that Saiyan
Stop that Saiyan
Stop that Saiyan
How?
Nab him! Jab him! Tab him! Grab him! Stop that Saiyan, now!

Not sure I'm really interested (Toriko/OP), but I'll just watch it for the DBZ part.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Just saw my first bits of Toriko on Youtube.
I'm not sure if that's an anime or manga I'm willing to get into at this time, but the concept certainly is interesting.
And I imagine that I should not watch it on an empty stomach.

Well, those deaths didn't impact me much, either. Since, when I first saw that arc, I had no idea who they were. And after that, I knew about the Dragon Balls.JulieYBM wrote:I'unno 'bout that. I'm not fond of this kind of crossovers because the DB characters have to be drastically weakened to respect other series, which irks me very much. Who wants to see Goku having trouble with characters from other Jump series who normally would vanish for good with his one jab?

This is how I feel about it, it really gets on my nerves. I hope they don't do a fight scene between the characterskei17 wrote:I'm not fond of this kind of crossovers because the DB characters have to be drastically weakened to respect other series, which irks me very much. I hope another Cross Epoch podcast appears from this.

I've heard of this special issue. There's a theory surrounding it that Jump is having problems getting new battle manga that interests readers and that the magazine is wondering how viable the genre is nowadays since many of their newer series that have stuck around aren't straight-up battle manga; meanwhile they know two of the still-big battle manga series (Naruto and Bleach) are going to be coming to a close sooner than later. I don't know how true that theory is or not, it's just something I've heard.TheRed259 wrote:http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... honen-jump

I love how "into it" Luffy and Toriko look while Goku looks like he's only pretending to be excited. XD That's one half-hearted grin; he doesn't even care enough to do the air-punch like the other two; he's just doing his "Ossu" hand gesture. He does not want to be there; poor Goku. XD
Also, I had forgotten just how strongly Toriko's outfit rips off of Goku's. Could they have given Toriko a different color pallet so it doesn't look so obvious?

All I keep thinking when I see Goku in that image is that he must be wondering if his check cleared yet... xDChuquita wrote:That's one half-hearted grin; he doesn't even care enough to do the air-punch like the other two; he's just doing his "Ossu" hand gesture. Gokuu's thoughts: "Yeah touch my arm while your at it, you time slot stealing ass".

Yeah... That is one wonky image.
