Toriyama's comment is very similar to his introduction to the last manga volume, where he said that he made the ending in such a way that it still seemed like the story could continue. I guess he prefers his conclusions to be open-ended like that.

I guess it makes sense. In a world like that it's hard to assume that things just settle down forever.

In-universe, I can see how this works better for Goku. Seeing how unhappy he was with the lack of challenges/absence of tough opponents in the Jump 08 special...I think it's better to leave him with the knowledge that there are definitely still other really strong guys, guys stronger than himself, out there so he has something to strive for. BOG does that. Goku gets closure by not getting closure. I like it.

If I'm gonna be honest though. It's a bit extreme, especially when compared with the Manga's ending. There it's all 'Gokuu goes to train the next generation. What challenges await in the future? Oooo... Think it up yourselves, kids!'. Here it's all very specific and oh-so promising. Oh well, I can deal with it.

I wonder how they'll design the 11 other Gods of Destruction? Will they all follow a theme or something? I'd like that.

Like in Digimon Tamers, also by TOEI, I believe, the 12 Deva who served the Digimon Gods, all had designs based around the Chinese Zodiac which was interesting...

Birus design seems to be inspire by Anubis. Why not have the other gods be design off of other gods like Odin, Prometheus, Hades, Chac and Izanagi.

If I'm reading this correctly it's due to something Trunks' voice actor says in the magazine.

Well, like it's been said in the movie's thread, it's fairly obvious that if this movie is successful, not only in Japan, but also outside of it, then there'll be something more. A movie, or a series, or more OVAs? Who knows, but like someone said, the only thing we know for sure is that people love money, and if you want to work for TOEI, apparently you need to put that in your curriculum.
So for now, I'll keep riding the wave of Battle of Gods, and after that, I'll simply wait for news from a source that I know I can trust 100%, which is Kanzenshuu, of course. As far as I know, this is the only site that has always given straight facts, and with proof behind it, about everything Dragon Ball. So one day, when I check kanzenshuu's main page (or it's facebook, or it's twitter) and I see the news of a new Dragon Ball ...something, only then I'll start dancing salsa all over the place I tried tango when Battle of Gods was announced, and I suck at it, so yeah, salsa is next

I think along with the more movie stuff I've constantly mentioned, lol, that all the new movies or whatever should STILL lead to the ending of Goku flying off with Oob at the end of the Budokai. BUT maybe have it have more signifcance by exploring something with these Gods or Goku's character to want to train a student.

So correct me if I'm wrong but will this weeks ask Akira Toriyama reveal whether or not their is a new series. Also if it is true that means that the Facebook hoax would not be a hoax.

From what I understand, the answer Toriyama gives in that Q&A is similar to the statement he gave at the end of the manga; he likes to leave things open-ended. It's possible for more things to happen to these characters in the future, but there's nothing in there (that I know of) saying definitively one way or the other about any additional movies/series.

I'm going to bet that he will likely say that there is no plans for another series. This is his first time to returning to the world of Dragon Ball in nearly 20. It won't surprise me if he helps out on another show since creators have been known to return after years later. Hideaki Anno return to Evagelion for the first time since 1997 and Masami Kurumada return to Saint Seiya in 2006.

There's a line in Nikkei Entertainment (released last week) along the lines of Toriyama's comment, and Takeshi Kusao's comment in the official movie guide (or was it the theatrical program? I forget) is also similar. Either way, neither says anything definitively about the existence of a sequel.

At any rate, of these, only the official movie guide came out prior to the hoax rearing its ugly head, and I haven't translated Kusao's comment yet.

No, it would still be a hoax. It would just be a rather prescient one.
