That's a bullshit thing for them to do. If they haven't charged me before shipping they shouldn't charge you before shipping, either. You should let Amazon know ASAP.

Did they send you an email confirming that they shipped it to you and it's on its way?

If not then you perhaps should contact Amazon, normally they don't charge until it's shipped.

Just checked my account and I haven't been charged so you must be an odd one out, with that being said you should let Amazon know about this ASAP because usually they don't charge without shipping first, so them charging you without shipping seems off.

I took it that you were charged from Amazon after the minute you can't cancel your order, right? You can't cancel the order if you're charged. Hence why if I am able to cancel my order of Dragon Box Two, that means I haven't been charged for anything.

Anyhoo, my card's bills are coming this week, so I should be able to see if I have been charged or not. If by any chance I am, I am going to lose it. If this keeps the same, I am going to cancel the order once and for all by the next week. So I don't have to worry anymore.

Off-topic but can't you check online the bills of your credit card? That just seems so outdated and waste of paper when companies want to go green, and this way it's more private than someone opening the letter.

With my credit card, you can. I am skeptical about the aforementioned charge being from Amazon as it is Amazon's policy not to charge until the order has been shipped. It is easy to verify whether an order has been shipped or not simply by logging into your Amazon account and checking the status of your orders. Chances are, most who have ordered the Dragon Box will have a "Not yet shipped" status, in which case they have nothing to worry about as far as charges are concerned.

I would ask Insertclevername to provide a scan of his card statement with his personal information blacked out to verify that the charge is from Amazon.ca and for the price listed for the Dragon Box and not some other charge which may have been made in the interim. I apologize for not taking the claim at face value, but I have been using Amazon.com and Amazon.ca for over ten years and have never had a charge for an unshipped item.

If he has been charged and his account on the site indicates the item has not been shipped, he should contact customer service about it right away and get it sorted out. With that information and the identifying charge on the card statement, there should not be a problem in getting the charge reversed. Just do not delay in doing so.

Not exactly, as I mentioned above you are charged from Amazon once your order is shipped. You can cancel an order up until the point where the item is being prepared for shipment, at which point your order status would either be "Shipping Soon" or "Shipping Now" at which point you no longer have the option to change the shipping speed or the method of payment but you may still have the option to request a cancellation, but the package may be past the point of cancellation by the time you submit a request. Once the status is "Shipped" you are no longer able to cancel an order, and the option is replaced with "Return or Replace Items."

The only time you are charged for your order prior to shipment is when you are buying from a Marketplace seller and not directly from Amazon. However, the product page for Dragon Box 2 explicitly states: Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information. Your account will only be charged when we ship the item.

At this point I'm pretty much on the verge of canceling my order, however I'm going to be fair and wait until after tomorrow to do anything (my shipping estimate is from May 21 2013 - May 29 2013 so they still have one more day before they go over their shipping estimate), if they don't ship by then, I'll send them an email inquiring about the order, and if I get a similar message to what OmegaRockman did, then I'll cancel my order and use my money for other things (I've been looking into getting some of the Mahou Tsukai Sally DVD's so I already have something planned out in case this whole thing goes sour).

You may as well keep you order if you haven't sourced elsewhere since you would loose your place in the queue and you would hate yourself if others started to ship and Amazon ran out of stock but initially had enough to give you a copy.

Hmm that's a good point, however there's a bit of a problem here, so many people on these forums have ordered vol 2 and to the best of my knowledge not a single one of said orders have been fulfilled (hell not even the ones that were placed when the Amazon.ca link was first revealed have been fulfilled) so at this point I'm starting to think they don't have the supply.

That would be a reasonable assumption, especially considering the email response provided on the previous page, the relevant info I will quote:

Sometimes unexpected fluctuations in supply can add time to our original availability estimate. We have learned that "DragonBall Z: Dragon Box 2 (ep.43-84)" is now back-ordered, and our supplier is not able to tell us exactly when they expect to have more in stock. I apologize that you were not notified sooner of this change.

This confirms that Amazon.ca did not have Dragon Box 2 physically in stock and as their supplier does not have it in stock does not bode well for anybody who may have gotten their hopes up. While the point of potentially losing place in the queue is a good one, it would be like waiting in a queue for a ride at Disneyland which had been discontinued. You can wait in line as long as you want, but no amount of determination will allow you to ride what no longer exists.

What I don't understand is don't Amazon.ca and their supplier know that Dragon Box 2 is out of print and practically every other legit source for the product has long since run dry?

Yeah but what if you don't have the money in your account anymore when they (hypothetically) ship what happens then, for example let's say you buy something because you don't think vol 2 will ship (or you forget that you ordered vol 2), then out of the blue Amazon sends a email saying that your order is shipped, when this happens you don't have the money you was planning to use to pay for vol 2 anymore since you used it to buy something else, your best bet would probably be to cancel your order before buying anything else to avoid hassles in the future.

£41-ish for Dragon Box 2 really isn't asking too much money because normally it's between £100-£200 to £400. But have all to be realistic about it and consider that Amazon.ca never had stock of it and it was just a mistake on their part.

I can't say £41 is really too expensive, I paid like £38 for Kai Part 4 even though it's only 12 or 13 episodes.

The only real update I got was a change of the estimated ship date to the message, "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date." Great. Maybe I'll see it by the end of this century. I'll just have to build a time machine.
