I'm aware of this. I know how content ID is "Supposed to work." Be that as it may, things don't always play out the way they should. If it generates a ton of ad-revenue, then they won't bother. It's a complicated one, but essentially, any dubbed Dragonball is liable to be removed by DMCA complaints on behalf of either Toei or Funimation, whereas any Japanese language Dragonball is liable to a DMCA request from Toei or Pony Canyon, the latter of which tend to be the most proactive.

Maybe i'm weird, but i like the "green tint" version more than the "fixed".bkev wrote:Funny how much better this simple balancing looks. Apologies for the lazy screenshot.
I like how everything is brighter, it fits with the Buu Arc being the most silly arc similiar to the original Dragon Ball.
I don't like how dark the "fixed" version is.

Given your 'dark' comment, I think you misunderstood which is which.Flame Dragon wrote:Maybe i'm weird, but i like the "green tint" version more than the "fixed".bkev wrote:Funny how much better this simple balancing looks. The fixed version is the bright one with the subtitle on the left — the unedited shot is the one on the right with the NST logo.

Left: Original Episode with the Supposedly Green Tint
Right: Fixed Version
Thought it was obvious by looking at the subtitles

No, no, the subtitled one is the fixed one. The fansubbers colour corrected it.

Youtube doesn't make money off of the ad-revenue of advertisements played before the video, the video uploader does.thekingfallsdown wrote:I'm aware of this. Pretty sure it's split between YouTube and the uploader, and YouTube actually gets the bigger share.

From what I've read it's a 60/40 split between the uploader and Youtube with the uploader getting 60%.Blade wrote:Youtube doesn't make money off of the ad-revenue of advertisements played before the video, the video uploader does.thekingfallsdown wrote:I'm aware of this. Do you mean that this guy is a YouTube Partner (I mean how else is he getting the 60%) and makes money out of Dragonball videos?
Re: Kai Episode 99 (06 April 2014)
No you can only make money off of videos you own the complete rights to for example when you see an ad on a DBZ abridged episode on youtube team four star isn't getting any money from that the person who owns the rights to the content has the choice to either take the video down or run ads against it so if you see ads on a dragon ball video either Toei or Funimation depending on what the video is of I'm actually not sure how it works between the two but one of them gets the money from the ads.TheRed259 wrote:Do you mean that this guy is a YouTube Partner and makes money out of Dragonball videos?

Re: Kai Episode 99 (06 April 2014)
You can't monetize a video if it has a copyright claim on it. So even if the upload went undetected, as soon as it got claimed, all the money would go to the original creator anyway.
Re: Kai Episode 99 (06 April 2014)
Once you upload a video, you can monetise it instantly and, for as long as the video remains undetected or unflagged, all of the ad revenue goes to you. However, until you hit $100, you can't access that money.
If you make $100 prior to anything being flagged, you can withdraw it and there's nothing they can do. Depending on the RPM the uploader is getting, along with the popularity of the video, that doesn't take all that long.
It's really shitty to see copyrighted content having ads tacked on by the uploader. Really horrible practice.
As has been mentioned, the left image with the subtitles is the colour corrected version and the right hand side is the raw TV image.

For future reference, you only have to look at the whites of the eyes to tell the difference. If they're white as white can be, that's very likely the corrected version.Which is which? You mind editing that in?

To whom are you referring? Toei or Toriyama?Flame Dragon wrote:You can't monetize a video if it has a copyright claim on it. So even if the upload went undetected, as soon as it got claimed, all the money would go to the original creator anyway.
Re: Kai Episode 99 (06 April 2014)
Ad revenue from videos like that would go straight to Toei. Maybe part of that would go to Toriyama afterwards. Very rarely do companies like Toei let you keep their content online so long as they get ad revenue though, that's a rarity that is usually reserved for irritating companies like Nintendo.TheRed259 wrote:To whom are you referring? If the video is still up, it likely hasn't been claimed by anyone.

Don't talk about Nintendo, they might claim this thread for Copyright Infringement.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Ad revenue from videos like that would go straight to Toei. Lol
Yes they are jerks, to the point that no small YouTubers (not protected by the right connections) even bother playing Nintendo games anymore. I still remember the bullshit they tried to pull with that harmless Smash Bros. Melee tournament. Seriously?
Re: Kai Episode 99 (06 April 2014)
Think I've watched this episode about five times now. Just posted up my review of it if anyone cares to have a read.
Working on the layout of the blog currently so I do apologise for the absence of real line line breaks between paragraphs. You may have to zoom in in the meantime while I try and get this fixed. I haven't touched HTML/CSS in years now.
Temporary theme installed while I work this out.
My initial hype has certainly subsided and it's been an interesting experience taking a critical look at the episode. I'm very curious to see how Sumitomo's score pans out throughout the next few episodes. That's definitely my biggest fear over anything visual.

I'm both disappointed with the poor color correction, but at the same time glad that they didn't use that terrible color palette from season 1. Because with them keeping the old color palette intact, it's possible to fix the color issues in post if we have some good references.

Having watching this for 20 mins, I can concour the new OP/ED animation is modernized. Sadly, the series was never reanimated from the start in 2009's First Run.
Rating: 8.9 / 10 - High success, but the dialogue is revised.
