Toriyama didn't mention Black vs White being the reason or racial sensibilities, that's why I asked you, if you thought that was his reasoning.

At no point did I mention race, nor did it even cross my mind. He said SSJ White would "clash" with the next villain. "Black" is literally the opposite of white. The corrolation simply jumped out to me. I'm not sure what made you read into that as to imply some kind of sociopolitical commentary, but I assure you they're not there.

I know you did not mention race, that's why I asked, if that's what you possibly implied.

In my head, having Black clash with White and that apparently being a no-go for Toriyama(if "next enemy" really does mean this Black character and not just Freeza, because he was explaining how he came up with SSB, which was likely created almost 2 years ago) made me think he could possibly have consider racial sensibilities, as I don't see another reason for that apparently being a no go.

I hope we get to see Hit/Cabba in this arc at some point. Future versions of them would be cool. Maybe even a flashback to Goku Black killing Future Hit before he came after Trunks.

It's possible. Most of the what-if's of those I've seen have Gokû in the same outfit Beerus wears, but since Whis has been added to the list of characters who can make clothes he could've designed a more Gokû-ish destruction god outfit for him. I'm near-convinced that lighter grey top is part of a dougi.

Well it cant be Demigra or at least not yet as according the little info we have he will already look like Goku wither he is Goku, a guy called Black or Demigra. Distorted silhouettes don't really mean much, to some it looks like Demigra, sometimes like none we have seen and other times I swear I can see Goku's hair. Its really up to how your brain interprets the image.

Demigra was defeated in the video game in a alternate timeline (He was able somehow wish back Buu and Freeza already), so I doubt it's him. Not to mention I would imagine fans want more original content than giving us the same stuff over again.

I heavily doubt they're using anything from Xenoverse. If they were, they would be including Time Patrol Trunks since he's supposed to be the canon Future Trunks. Toriyama is obviously doing his own thing.

I forgot about Time Patrol Trunks. Thank you, I do feel better. I've been slightly worried about the theory of it being Demigra. I'm really hoping for original villains in Super.

Recent Super Dragon Ball Heroes pictures have shown Goku black only wearing on of the green potara earrings, meaning we might see a Vegeta/ Vegito Black, which would make the fact that he is a threat to the higher gods more credible, but I'm doubtful. Just speculation.

Toriyama wasn't responsible for the story of Online or Xenoverse 1. If he wants to include that content he can do so with his own version of events, the same way he completely overhauled Bardock in Dragon Ball Minus. For all we know, the Future Trunks Arc and the escalation to involving one of the other Universes and the high gods could eventually lead to his version of how Trunks meets Time Kaioshin Chronoa and becomes a Time Patroller. Not that I'm too worried about it actually happening, but it could be a possibility without any advance warning from familiar content (beyond a green turtleneck and one green, Potara-looking earring).

Seeing the extended trailer makes me wish they did a Trunks spin-off, it looks really good, if they can keep the content were teased with then we might get something special.

The idea this could be a goku that took whis offer of being the next god of destruction is an interesting one, goku and vegeta are shown to be on beerus home judging from one image so it looks like this black goku will get the attention of the main players in the main universe.

Saying that the shadowy figure that hunts down Trunks moves more animalistic, like a predator, it could be possible that this thing is a demonic being, that either comes to the past or trunks brings goku forward to the timeline where goku loses and becomes possessed etc.

I just hope Black Goku is insanely powerful otherwise he'll only be as much of a "threat" as Freeza was so far. I'm talking so powerful that Kaioken Blue Goku is like a fly, Whis can't touch him, and even SSB Gogeta might at best simply not get killed for a half hour before time runs out. I want to see Goku/Vegeta and even Trunks have to reach new levels of power that they can then use in the next tournament.

Now I've never played Xenoverse (of course I've watched a few scenes of the game on youtube), but I seriously hope this arc isn't based in or around the game. I especially would hate if Demigra is involved. His character design in funny and actually reminds me of how a clown looks. I couldn't take him seriously, even his final form is "meh". With that said, if Goku fuses with this being called "Black", I hope Black Goku is a mix of the two personalities. I don't want this to essentially be Goku's body being controlled, but actually Goku with evil thoughts. This would make interesting interactions between his family and friends. Goku can finally tell Gohan how disappointed he is in him!
