Well, if you wanna kill off a new action oriented show, that sure is one hell of a way to do it.
DC keep pumping out shows for CN no wonder they keep getting cancelled unless they're goofy like TTG. Hell the new JL animated series is even 11mins but that still isn't good enough for CNUK it seems. Bah. Apparently the American time slot for the new JL series is 6pm I think tells you all you need to know about the state of UK childrens tv.

Not surprising that Super ended up getting rejected. It's foreign. It's 20mins. Has action /fighting. Literally all the opposite of what stations want it seems. Don't think we're ever gonna see it broadcast in the UK.
JL at 07:30 on a Saturday morning? wow. UK children's programming has hit an all-time low.
I think the ship has long sailed for Super here in the UK. Toei have tried their best, but it just isn't what the networks want: skinny characters, with silly voices and dull storylines.

Finally, the only station I feel that could work here would be Disney XD, GotG and Star Wars both air on there.
Super could actually work well on DisneyXD. But even though the violence in the show is fairly constraint, I have a feeling it would still get censored in some areas.

I'm more worried by the "The Future universe is destroyed, killing everyone in it, and they never get wished back" angle. That is going to be tough to swallow for broadcasters.

And Sabat just uploaded this on Twitter which happens to be the exact same scene from the one we saw of the Bang Zoom dub:

Update: Okay so the clip has now been removed but I think another user here already uploaded it to Youtube.

Yeah I honestly thought the article I was reading had a typo on there. Couldn't fathom the first episode of a new JL series airing at that time until I saw this: https://youtu.be/3WG56fUyNNY sigh.

The word on that dub of was that it hasn't come out because no broadcasters were interested, not that it was legally not releasable.

Funimation has almost certainly always held the Canadian broadcast rights to the entire franchise, because unless it's major network TV, we're always included in those deals.

If FUNi choosing to use an almost identical clip to Bang Zoom isn't proof that they're sour about this whole deal, I don't know what is. Hell, with the out of the blue reveal of this clip as well as the cast list, I bet the only reason we got those at all is because of the earlier Toonami Asia announcement.

That clip really proves nothing. They most likely just used the same clip for convenience.

I don't know that they're necessarily sour...but it is noteworthy that they included the same clip, and the timing of these announcements--just a few days after Bang-Zoom announced their involvement--is noteworthy as well....

I think the truth is somewhere in between. I don't think they bare Bang-Zoom or the actors involved any ill will, but I do wonder if perhaps they thought news of their dub would get buried if news of the Bang-Zoom dub picked up momentum. So, I'd say it's probably more of a marketing concern than sourness.

Interesting how the scripts are different. I think I like the bang zoom script the most.

Lmao FUNi got asked to take the Satan clip down but not Goku.
Dub wars started guys... :P. All seriousness though this was clearly as TBP said above a marketing move by FUNi.

Super Saiyan Prime wrote:If some of the Canadian VAs went to LA, I see no reason for them to go with that really strained Buu voice over McNeil's. His sounds natural compared to whoever is doing that one for Bang Zoom.

I was going to suggest Trevor Devall and David Kaye might show up, but I don't think they do non-prelay work now.
Trevor was in Final Fantasy XV that just released recently. FF I believe is "meant to be" played in English, & the English tracks are often released in Japan as well, but there are Japanese reference tracks during the recording of the English version. I am hesitant to call it a "dub" in the negative sense, because the mo-cap was by English-speaking actors, & the lipsync is to the English track, but it is "one of many audio tracks for a piece of entertainment".

The thing is, there's no union rate for dubs of games - union games all pay the minimum that, say, Assassin's Creed or Uncharted, do. Which is why the likes of Nolan North, Tom Kane, Josh Keaton, Kevin Michael Richardson, Corey Burton, Jennifer Hale, Mark Hamill, & Tara Strong have been in them (several Final Fantasy games, Metal Gear Solid, Dark Cloud, Tales of Symphonia). I haven't seen David Kaye in a game dub, even, interestingly, though.

I figure promos pay way better.

I noticed something while re-watching my dub comparison (https://youtu.be/IDmJaVpALM0). Buu refers to himself as "I'm" in the Bang Zoom dub while he says "Buu" in the FUNimation dub. I wonder if Bang Zoom overlooked that detail or they purposely wanted to change Buu's dialect.

Honestly, after listening to the FUNi dub clips, the Bang Zoom dub sounds amateurish and pretty meh in comparison. Can't wait for someone to lecture me on how I'm "wrong" but that's honestly how I feel
