This is good, now there can finally be a definitive version of the Saiyans' origins all from Toriyama himself.
Also lol at the website url, those guys who bought the domain with an adress in the same vain as the two prior movies didn't count on this.

I disagree, I think he fits the 'brute' saiyan archtype perfectly in the Cell saga and onward, he is just on the short side. And regardless, Vegeta is supposed to be somewhat of an exception. The majority of saiyans we got back then ( Radditz, Nappa, Bardock, Celipa, Toma, Punbukin, Totepo) all fit the same rough type and they set the image people had of saiyans for years.

I know he draws them skinny now, that was the point. I'm curious how these new saiyans will look with his current style. It's not so much about size, they also look tamer. Well, considering that Yamoushi was supposedly "gentle" it might fit.

It's a theory. A fact has proof behind it.

Just because you don't like universe 6 doesn't mean everyone else does too.
Its a fact.

You're in the minority who likes them.
Hey, might want to be less disrespectful, as the way you are talking would make others not want to respond back. People here dont state things as facts just because you want it to be. You say its a fact? Give us the source, and well believe you. also, bringing "minority and majority" into an argument does not help your case.

I think 4, twice in champa's arc and twice in the current one.

I don't hate anyone more than those saiyan girls but there's a reason they got as much screen time as they have.

This might sound blasphemous to a lot of people here, or maybe not. But...

I have absolutely zero interest in this film. Maybe I'm in the minority and this sounds crazy to most people, but to me, Dragon Ball IS Goku and friends. That's all it is. The world and lore of Dragon Ball isn't that interesting on it's own, it's the characters that we've come to know and love that fill that world that makes it fun. So a story WITHOUT the main cast just sounds completely boring. I just don't care about the world of Dragon Ball on it's own, so exploring the Saiyans' backstory is incredibly mundane and wasteful to me.

I was also a little disappointed, but until we get more information, I'm assuming the movie will include the saiyan origins but the plot will still involve the main cast. They'll travel to the past somehow, or the past comes to them.... It's early, but I really doubt it won't feature Goku predominantly. Unless Yamoushi is just another Goku clone.....

"this film is being diligently produced with the goal of having the greatest scale and quality of the series to date!"

This alone is enough to not only get me excited but to ensure that it's the best movie in the franchise.

Who said anything about this just being an origin story without Goku ? Of course Goku will be the main character and heavily involved like he always is, this being a Saiyan history lesson won't change that.

Most of who you named weren't design by Toriyama, but Toei who went with the Saiyan cavemen design. Which is my point.

On Vegeta, most of the character got bigger in the Cell Saga before bulking down in the Buu Saga.

That would be really lame, Imo. Having a movie where Goku and friends are not the main focused is different and new and I want it. If they do show up, I want it to be near the end of the movie.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

If your talking about Bardock's crew, as far as I remember they were actually designed (or at least checked and approved) by Toriyama himself for the OVA. I'll have to look up the source, but I know that Toei's initial concept art for Celipa looked extremely different and Toriyama redesigned her. So it was still his vision at the helm of those character designs.

Again, Vegeta is somewhat of an exception, but his overall design is still mostly congruous with the traditional image of the saiyans.

I'm all for originality, but I just don't see them take Goku out or not give him the biggest piece of the screen time pie. If it involves saiyans, Goku , and most likely Vegeta, will play a huge part in it.

This is absolutely true, which is why I don't want this to feel like a 'Dragon Ball' film. I want them to just treat this as something completely fresh and new that just so happens to exist in the Dragon Ball world. I want to see Toriyama to try and write something original with characters that he is not familiar with.

What you said doesn't sound blasphemous at all. It's a very valid reason to not be interested in this. I'm just interested to see what they could do with a story that doesn't include the characters we know.

He approved, but didn't directly design them like Bardock. And Celipa is one of the smaller Saiyans.

Does anyone think they'll use this movie to bring in Bardock somehow ? Flashback or meet him back in time ?

We know he redesigns what he doesn't like or if it doesn't fit with his ideas, and I think he actually corrected all of those designs at least a little . Celipa's body type is that of a typical DB female (and they were on the sturdier side back then) but her initial concept art had her looking softer, with with blond cone shaped hair and a cuter face I think. He changed that.

On another note, what does this mean for the anime. I can't imagine the pressure this will put on their schedule. Unless, I please forgive me for bringing this up again, Super really does end in March. I know they can pull off running series + movie with One Piece, but it must be exhausting.

With how much fighting they've done in the current arc I think anything after will be a lot easier even with a movie being made.

Oh this is fantastic news, I've been waiting to here of this since 2016.

And Toriyama is directly involved again? With the script, story and character designs? That's also just what Is anted because it means it'll be another canon entry and an event Dragon Ball movie.

As for the idea itself, seems interesting, it's gotta have Yamoshi surely.

One question though, this isn't a prequel or something is it? Is it going to have Goku and Vegeta and all the others in it and be set in current time....but then look back into the Origins?

If the main characters aren't in the movie it will flop. No two ways about it.

If this is going to just be a backstory of the Saiyans with different original characters, then as interesting as it might, it will surely flop. I don't think they'd be that stupid though so hopefully it's an origin of the Saiyans while also having everyone else in it.
