Daima is airing Autumn 2024, of course I'm not voice acting expert (Only watched shows that deal with behind the scenes stuff, like Shirobako, Sore ga Seiyuu or Seiyuu Radio ) But i'd say it's more than enough time to recast and re record, depending how many episodes they already did

Yup. If he's out of One Piece (owned by Toei), he's out of Dragon Ball (also owned by Toei).



Though, to be honest, Yamcha in Super had like... 5 lines outside that baseball episode.
I don't think his role in Daima would be too different.

He was asked to step down from these roles by his agency, so most likely he's going to be asked to pseudo-voluntarily also step down from any other roles they know there's a good risk he'd get fired from if he didn't (and that 100% definitely includes Yamucha). At this point everyone's just trying to minimize the bad press he gets as much as they can.

Well, unless Yamcha is in every scene of Daima (which I really doubt), they could re-record the character in a matter of two or three recording sessions of a few hours.

Now, the reason why they would take too long to re-record them would be the casting itself. I assume that Toei is still considering what to do with Furuya and has not begun a casting for Yamcha yet.

Yamacha is likely such a minor role Furuya will probably be him for Daima and then will be his send off. Anything post Daima will be a new voice actor.

Japan is EXTREMELY careful about keeping a wholesome, family friendly image, I think they are redubbing his scenes as we speak.

Not Dragon Ball yet, but One Piece; a Toei Animation production finally announced their replacement for the role of Sabo. Unless they have another actor in mind, expect Miyu Irino to play Yamcha in the foreseeable future.

It will be interesting to see if they bring Irino on to voice Yamcha, since Irino already voices Dr. Hedo and Beat.

It was always interesting to me that in America if a voice actor is fired you could see as many people as possible replace him in different roles but In Japan they treat it as one size fits all.

If there is something that japanese Dragon Ball was always consistent is having great voice actors. Not worried about any recasts, even though I would've like Toriyama had the chance to pick who's gonna replace Nozawa in the future.

For me it is the opposite, the Looney Tunes all share a voice in English even after Mel Blanc died. I think its a case by case basis.

That's an understatement to say the least- The affair was only the beginning of his crimes.

They're probably just going off of his official statement and only that.
